Free Fonts..where Can I Get Em?

Where are the best free fonts at? Also, which fonts do I have to have (meaning which ones are in style right now?).

Well, there are many websites floating around giving away free fonts. I personally use GetFreeFonts.info. They've uploaded some really neat fonts. I'll post more when I get hold of them.

I have DL'd about 900+ free fonts from http://www.sketchpad.net/b6.htm

The only problem with so many fonts is finding the right one!!

You can get fonts at many sites. I like to use acidfonts.com.

www.dafont.com provides me with the fonts I need/use.

I use www.dafont.com a lot, but also try searching for the style of font you are looking for, you will often find a font that is perfect, and no-one else has!

You could also try looking on PC magazines, as these often offer free CDs with more fonts than you could ever need.

Download the file you wish and save it anywhere on your hard-disk; preferably your desktop. If it's zipped, make sure you unzip before going further. Now that you're done, you should be left with a font file.
Now if you're using Windows XP, simply go to the control panel; click on Appearence and Themes link. You'll be displayed with several options. Now if you notice under the See Also option, a link named "fonts" will be displayed. Click it and paste the icon file from your desktop.

The fonts folder is always found under the control panel in all version of Microsoft Windows. Once you've copied the file under the folder, all applications (Word, Frontpage, etc) will show that under the pull down menu.

There are loads of sites with free fonts floating around, dafont.com (as has been mentioned before) is a good one.

You could also check out Fontleech, a blog picking out nice, free fonts.

And if you do any programming you could visit Monospaced programmer's fonts, which has a nice overview of good fixed width fonts for programming.

Hmm there is a whole topic about that on freebie stuff, I believe.
Try googling it, it will pop up a lot of sites with free fonts
