| | I remember I time when everybody I knew had hotmail accounts. Free, fast, easy....but somehow whenever I saw someone with a an e-mail address that ended in "@hotmail.com" my mind screamed "Noooooooooob!". Did anybody else get that feeling? Does anybody still get that feeling?
I've always heard that a person's e-mail adress should look at least somewhat professional, particularly when putting it down for something important, such as a job applicatiohn. After all, would they rather hire "JoeJohnson@nc.rr.com" or"Fuzzy_Pink_Bunny_Slippers1982@slumberparty.net"?
Now, I'm not saying it's wrong to have silly addresses (mine, in fact, is rather odd); I'm merely wondering if anyone has encountered any dificulties by using a free e-mail account versus a paid-for and respected one when it comes to dealing with the professional world. I know I've had several e-mails ignored when I've used my silly e-mail address to write to people. Has anything like that happened to anyone else? |

First of all, I have never had a hotmail account but i think exactly that when i see an email address that says @yahoo.com. Personally, i have a gmail account, 2 yahoo accounts, 1 aol account, and 1 comcast account, and 1 website account. Depending on the situation, i use a different account. Obviously i dont check all those account very often but I check atleast 3 of them daily and i check the most frequently used accounts more often. So i a real profession situation i would use my personal and most professional account which would either be the aol or comcast accounts.

I've never feel that way, infact I feel happy, happy that I've make a very good choice choosing a popular email that I'm clever! If you want something unique, go for some trustable email that isnt so popular, I've a huge list of them!!... Or you can go get a hosting from trap17 and use their webmail or start your own email company!

I too use several accounts for different purposes but i neither judge a person by the domain of their email address or its nickname. Neither do i think it would be an issue when hiring someone unless the email address is profain vulgar racist or so on following along the lines of the rules for posting in this forum so i would consider "Fuzzy_Pink_Bunny_Slippers1982@slumberparty.net" on that persons ability to fullfil the job rather than "JoeJohnson@nc.rr.com".

I only ever use my Yahoo address for signing up to stuff on the net which I probably won't use regularly (it's just a spam magnet these days anyway) and as a back-up for all those people who haven't updated their email lists for me. I have an email address supplied by my ISP which I would use for all my friends and for writing official-type emails because it's got my name in it and I've set up an alias email address I use for message boards cos it's the same as my username. I've also got various other email addresses that I've set up and hardly ever used as well as ones from old ISPs which are s'posed to get shut down when you stop paying their subscription but I find that I still get emails through from them ages after. I had a Hotmail account about 7 years but it got shut down without warning and with no reason given. Apparently it was due to a breach of their TOS, but just which one was never outlined (and I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong  ).

no matter dealing with professional fairs or personal fairs,i think email is very helpful.but not depends on which email ( paid or free ) he is using,because Free Email system is better than the paid email. Email system is a middle point system.( i just can not explain it definetly) Nowdays i think Gmail is the best free Email system in the world,it beyond Yahoo and Hotmail.

I agree with Reaver. In the professional world, people shouldn't be taking decisions on your email address! Personally I use the email address I got from my ISP for all professional matters as it is different (small company) and looks vaguely professional compared to a Hotmail or Yahoo address. However, I have no problems with people using free addresses professionally, as they are no different to any other email service. Most companies give employees an email address when they join anyway, so does it really matter?

I have a lot of emails. I have one yahoo for signing up for things, especially ones that I expect a lot of spam from, one from my isp for professional things, one from hotmail for random things, and finally my one from gmail for personall matters. I have a couple of other emails too, but I don't really use those much.

Think about it from this point of view. Your at a job interview and your interviewer asks for your email and you say: 12xxSSJ4_Gokuxx21@hotmail.com After you tell him your email he is going to direct you too the door. Thereby, losing your chance at the job. However, something like this: JohnDoe@hotmail.com Would at least make you look decent and not some freak who is childish and obsessed with DragonBall Z. Well, thats my 2 cents.

I use several e-mail addresses too....yahoo.ca, gmail, the ones that came with my hosting account (squirrel mail, etc.) and lycos (although I'm using this much less than before...especially since they've started bombarding it with banner and pop-up ads). Probably thinking of cancelling my lycos account altogether - do you just send a request to the admin at lycos?

And come to think of it, free email provider provides better and more mail services to their users because they have more user and more opinion to make their services better... Whereas paid onces ppl didnt know if that particular email services is great and didnt want to trust them and thus lose more client..

Another Cust. Service Rant... This Time As A Customer

Ea Announced Their Worst Idea Ever
Install a game 3 times and then you have to buy another copy (9) I can't believe how stupid EA can be. So if you buy a game and install it over 3 times, it locks
up and you have to buy another copy. This is STUPID. I've read in a forum a post by someone who
formats his hard drive every 3 months. He's never going to buy any EA game with that kind of
protection. I think it's pretty dumb too. Imagine buying the game, installing it and having it

Customer Service... Vent About Customers
(3) I work in customer service, taking orders over the phone and such. I Really don't understand
why people are rude to us, I can't help but think of the old adage, "Don't bite the hand
that feeds you" to me being rude to the guy whos writing down what you order doesn't make sense.
For example (I work with pizzas) oops, it was hot sprinkles, not half sauce? oops. I bet that
burned. I can understand people complaining for a genuine reason, something wrong with the pizza
or it was late or such, but people ringing up and complaining, then talking your ear of....

A New Game Idea For The Future

Rogers : Internet Service Injustice
cable connection (10) To those of you that know company : Rogers that provides both internet and TV and even more. When
