2 Gb isn't much space. I think I'd much rather either buy a spare backup harddrive, make a storage partition on my primary one, or even email myself files via Gmail. I doubt I would want to store 2 Gb of my important personal files on an online database where someone can steal or accidently (or purposefully) remove them. Heck, if I back up my stuff on a writeable DVD disk, I'd have more than 2 Gb of space, and writeable DVDs are maybe fifty cents a piece, if not less.

hmm.. i hate online backups.. they take so long to recover and sotre imo. i'd rather a hard copy on another hdd or dvd. the new blue-ray disks are gonna be far more effiecnt for data backup; a whooping 50GB. ;o nice resource though.

Nice site, but I don't really trust it. I don't like online backups becuase people can accidentally or intentionally steal your information if the site is not careful with security. They are also slow to upload and download. 2 GB isn't much space either. I'd rather use a DVD+RW to back up my data or USB Flash Drives. They are faster and more efficient.

Yeah, I donīt really see the point in this. If it were, say... 10 gigas or more, maybe, but nowadays almost everybody has a DVD recorder. And the meaning of backup copy seems to tell that you are saving something extremely important and you donīt want nobody to access it... nobody but you. Who knows what might happen if you put this on a public server...

To the person who said that Gmail is secure, I'd have to disagree with you. It can be hacked and your files can be taken just as easily as it can be from the site stated above.

Intresting, but I have various problems with online backup solutions. 1) They're slow during uploading and recovery. 2) They pose a privacy risk. 3) They are usually "fly-by-night" operations. I'm not saying that this backup site is any of the above, those cons are just from my personal experiences.

This is what I am going to do. Start my on online free storage company, have people upload all their personal data, and then shut the business down and take all their personal info! Sorry I don't trust start ups! And yea, 2 gigs isn't a whole lot.

Online store was a great option until DVD Burners and Media got so cheap that you can get a high quailty DVD-R for less then 50 cents. Plus, as others have mentioned, it poses a risk of the site going down or a hacker getting into your account. Although I don't think anyone would upload anything personal, they might upload something to share with a friend if the friend lives in another country or state. Other then that I can't see a purpose for this kind of storage, sorry.

i just think it is to much effort to go and put stuff on the net and anyway in our country bandwidth is expensive and to have a decent line that would make it worth while to put big amounts of data on the net would cost a pretty penny as these isp's all have ridiculous caps like a 3 gb cap on a 512k line i mean come on i will reach that in a day or two, so going and buying a 250 gb hard drive would more likely than not work out a lot cheaper after a few months !! And then it would be holding way more data and like someone else said it would be much more secure where as on the the net something may happen and there goes all your data you put. And on the hard drive the info is there whenever you need it you won't have to first go and download it off the net before you can use it !!

My main problem with backing up to somewhere on the web is that it doesn't strike me as being very secure. I don't particularly mind the time it would take to transfer, as I could just leave my computer running. I usually back up onto another hard drive, or CDs.

I believe the concern most people have with online back up is the security and time taken to process (downloading and uploading). When you put anything on the internet, you are susceptible to any attack from all over the world, and these are things you cannot control. Whereas with a flash disk, you just to safe guard it and ensure there is no physical damage to it. I have an issue with DVD writing though. I had a very bad experience once, I wrote everything to it, a total of 4 gb of data and when it was being copied to my desktop, an error of 'data cyclic redundacy check' popped up. I was so pissed, and from then on I changed to FTP to transfer data from 1 computer to another.
