http://people.mozilla.com/~beltzner/overview-of-firefox3.swfI saw this a few days ago but it recently popped up on Digg. Thought it was a cool look at Firefox 3. The new address bar seems to be the biggest addition to Firefox 3 and honestly I hate it with a passion. I use Firefox 2 on my windows system, but both work and my roomates computer ( which I use more then she does. >.< ) has Hardy Heron on it, which comes pre installed with Firefox 3 and honestly it's the biggest pain in the *bottom* to play with. First I don't want my porn history randomly popping up while I'm searching for "big" trucks or something ridiculous like that. Also it's kind of intrusive as it just seems out of place and takes up too much space. Very unappealing to the eyes. The book mark feature is actually something I really like, but I'm sure I could find a similar feature with an add-on that's already in existence for Firefox 2. The Synaptic like system for Firefox 3 add-ons is nice and all, but I would much rather browse a website that has them organized in a larger font and have more options as far as ratings, downloads and top searches go. The new malaware prevention is actually really cool, I wish it would have came on Firefox 2 but I guess the saying better late then never plays a role here. So what do you guys think? =x

I don't like how the "go" button is removed. Sometimes I might press it rather then pressing enter. I like the new addons, the bookmark thing, etc, but I have the same "ehh" feeling you do about the address bar (It's not an "awesome bar", just an extended address bar). And I also don't like that favicon thing, I reckon they could of use that for better purposes myself. Hopefully, you can turn these extra features off. Or risk upsetting a large user base.

It just means that people like me will be keeping a copy of the latest Firefox 2 close to hand. I won't update unless I have no other option. If that's the case I'll head over to Safari for windows or Opera.

Also one feature he didn't mention in the video is that every operating system, Windows, Mac, Linux based, have their own default layout that has the theme of the operating system.

I like it, anyway you are right about the adress bar showing the porn sites. The ratings system is some stupid, i dont think that i can find an use for it. I have not tested it in Linux, but in Windows works pretty good. Regards

I was not a big fan, not even a fan of firefox, i must admit, i used to use maxthon browser which has a lot more features, but the problem is that it uses the internet explorer technology, it is not original like firefox, and it is not as secure as firefox, allthough firefox is not secure, i prefer to say that firefox has a much more secure system/program then intenet explorer but, still today, people do not know this for a fact. The spread firefox thing does not work as it should because they do not explain people why, in a very detailed way and with a high impact way, i guess that is why internet explorer is still the most used browser. I see my websites statistics and the difference is huge, almost the triple of people use internet explorer, and the main fault is the microsoft, which uses internet explorer, obviously of course, even the 7 version is still far from beeing secure as firefox. Thanks for letting me know there is a version 3, i did not know to tell you the truth.

You'd be amazed just by how many people *don't* know what Firefox is yet! They are totally content with IE, and why shouldn't they be? As far as the general population is concerned, IE goes onto the internet and surfs it. That's speaking on-behalf of the internet-enabled general population. The people who don't care how well the pc works, as long as it works and does what they want it to. Who don't know what the hell HTML/CSS/PHP, apache, mime-types, etc etc is. They run Nortans and never defragged in their life. Why should they know or care?

Now that Mozilla has set this record, who do you think will attempt to break it? I'm pretty sure Microsoft won't dare do something like this... it wouldn't be fair, and it would probably cause ethical issues where they would try to redirect users or something. Honestly, I'm not that much of a fan of Firefox. I'm only using it for some addons without which I cannot live, for example, Adblock on certain sites (I disable it for sites I support ) Opera and Safari have both been very fast in terms of starting time and browsing though. I guess Firefox has a few steps to make. I can't wait for 3.1 though...

QUOTE(ivantoar @ Jun 19 2008, 04:33 PM) But also, there's a country that doesn't have download number at all (0 download count), and some not more than 10, LOL, do they ever use internet? Funny that. You'd have thought all those millionaires in the Western Saharan and Guinea-bissau would be downloading these luxurious pieces of software at an alarming rate (that is after they'd bought their computer, bought a modem, hired a telephone line and paid for the Internet). On a less sarcastic note, 8.3 million downloads is quite an achievement though. It might not sound like much but it works out at 96 per second. However, I wonder how many of these downloaders will still be using Firefox in a month's time...

Browse Faster With Firefox
(1) If you are using broadband connection and using Firefox then follow the simple steps provided below
to make your Firefox work faster for you: The catch here is by enabling pipelining in Firefox you
can tell your browser to make several request at the same time, which means the site will load
faster. 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and press Enter. Scroll down and look for the
following entries: - network.http.pipelining - network.http.pipelining.maxrequests -
network.http.proxy.pipelining 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining"....
Firefox 2.0 Beta 1
(13) If you've given the newly-released Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 a spin, you've probably noticed that
there aren't a whole lot of eye-popping new features. However, there are a few subtle
improvements that make it a nice upgrade. In addition to built-in spellchecker, Firefox 2.0 also
has close buttons on every individual tab - a much-needed feature (especially on Mac OS X.)
There's also better (but still not great) RSS integration. When you click on a site's feed
icon (at the far end of the address bar), a preview page with the option to choose your feed rea....
