Anyone who has a recent version of Firefox (from about 1.0.2-3 I think) should get automatic notifications of the availability of new versions from Firefox itself (as well as updates to extensions and themes).

Yeah that's right everyone get the notification of the availability of the of any critical update and even updates of the extensions and themes which is one of the very good feature that it notifies you about the critical updates. That is the reason why Firefox is becoming hot favourite of most of the people.

The Firefox 1.7 is a better browser than the Mozilla version that I have been using as well. It is crisper on the display and faster for line speeds. Of course, if you are able to apply the "turbo-charging" techniques described in the tutorial section here at Trap17, it is even better performance. The Tutorial is very easy to follow and it greatly increases the capabilities of the browsers. It even worked on the Mozilla Suite ver 1.7.11, because they are the same engine underneath. So,I am happy with the Mozilla/Firefox product. I hope they continue to supply good stuff at the right price...

I have no idea what they put in the new 1.0.X versions This makes me think why Internet Explorer doesn't come up with updates that often. I mean, Opera, Avant, Firefox, they all have automatic updates... unless the Windows (or Microsoft) Update updates IE for you...

The new versions are usually fixing security problems. The reason why IE isn't updated that often is because Microsoft either are unable to produce fixes that quickly or simply don't care.

I'm currently using 1.5 Beta 2, which is or at least seems alot faster than 1.0.x, and has some cool features, the best being the streamlined updates system which now allows you to download patches of a few 100KB instead of a 6MB file, which is good for us dial-up folk. Firefox 1.5 Beta 2: Home: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/Download (Windows, English): http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firef...=win&lang=en-US (its the link from the Firefox project homepage, but if you dont trust me feel free to click it on Mozilla's site) Release Notes: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/re...s/1.5beta2.htmlIf your using Firefox 1.0.x I would personally strongly recommend you at least try out 1.5 Beta 2, ok so its pretty much the same its just faster and it seems more stable.

Anything is better than Internet Explorer, that's for sure. For the past months, Firefox has been a bi overrated, but hey, it's free, and for a free thing that has all these features? What more can you say? Sure there could be some things that other commercial browsers can bypass, but nothing beats the free price! It's good to know that this new version will fix some known problems from 1.0.6. For some reason, in 1.0.6, I can't view my Gmail. I had to go to *GASP* IE, to view it. Hopefully when I get this, my problems will finally be over. (At least I think they will)

Hackers Focus Efforts On Firefox, Safari, And Office
(1) QUOTE Many people are switching from Internet Explorer to alternative browsers such as Firefox
and Safari. Though that might make them feel more secure, the shift has also opened new doors for
bad guys. Case in point: We have no IE bugs to report this month, but both Firefox and Safari have
been hit hard. So forget the idea that just because you've switched to a new browser,
you're magically safer. You may be for a time, but to stay safe with any software, you need to
keep current with fixes. Firefox Holes In a somewhat dubious recognition of Firefox's....
Opera, Firefox Bug Could Reveal Web Travels
(0) OH NO!!! (sarcasm there) QUOTE A flaw in the way the Firefox and Opera browsers
handle an image file could allow an attacker to see what Web sites a person has visited. The
problem concerns how the two browsers handle a ".BMP," or bitmap, image file, according to an
advisory written by Gynvael Coldwind of Vexillium.org, who posted a video illustrating the problem.
A malicious bitmap file can be created that pulls other information from the browsers' memory.
Some of the information that can be captured is random, but at other times could be valuable....
Is There An Exploit In Vista Home Premium To Make Firefox Permanant Default Browser?
(4) I just got a new laptop, and of course it's loaded with vista. Everything works awesomly!
(my last PC was from 2001, BIG DIFF.) But the damned thing compulsivly and automatically sets
Internet Explorer to my default browser and won't let me change certain things which browsers
will typically handle. 've manually changed it so Firefox handles all the stuff except HTTPS

Firefox Flaws Galore
(7) Well it seems firefox flaws are becoming a popular now, the two flaws that have been reported all
follow the same protocol that had posted about before; QUOTE The flaw lies in Firefox's URL
handler component.. Like the first flaw, this one could be exploited by attackers to launch
programs on the victim's PC without authorization, said Tyler Reguly, a security research
engineer at nCircle Network Security Inc. "They're both related to the URL handling process," he
said "It's just different errors within that handling process." So far it would se....
Interesting New Ie - Firefox Bug ( A Must Read Asap)
FF 2.0.02 and up users need to know about this (3) Well it has finally happen and strangely enough I didn't really think about it until now, but it
seems a security team found a very high level bug that requires both Internet Explorer 7 and
Modzilla Fire Fox. This is the jist of the bug; QUOTE The root of the matter is a Firefox
uniform resource identifier (URI) that allows Web sites to force Firefox to launch with the
"firefoxurl://" URI, Secunia reported. The way in which the URI handler is registered by Firefox
causes any parameter to be passed from IE (or another application) to Firefox when the "firefoxurl....
