Another option for an external storage is using a NAS (Network attached Storage).
Then all your computers in your network can use the storage. The only disadvantage is that it's hard to use on different sites. It works fine in your home LAN. You can also make a NAS with an old computer , 2 or 3 hard drives and the pakket freeNAS. With that pakket you can even make a software RAID between the hard drives. The cheapest and the simplest will be an external USB (or Firewire) drive. If your computer has a Firewire connection, an external drive that supports both USB and firewire will be usefull. Firewire is still a lot faster then USB2, and most of the times all the USB are used.
I will buy an external storage for my notebook,
My money is limited but I want a good storage,he....he.... What must I do before buy it???? Can You give me suggestion,Please.......................!!!!!!!!!
I think it is very important to know the usage of your external storage, what is it going to be primarily used for? Backing up, transferring between laptops, it all depends on you. You need to know the size of hard disk and the RPM, of course the higher the better. I would recommend you to go around your hardware retailers and compare prices
Where I can get the information about best external storage for my notebook????
I need this information but my drive space was limited. Please help me...........
Look around now at Circuit City or Best Buy, since it's the time to find good deals on external harddrives. I've come near filling up my 160GB external harddrive in about a year so this Christmas I'm shooting for a 500GB Western Digital external harddrive as an add-on to the storage I have already.
If you haven't already purchased one i have seen tons of deals this week on 80gb external hd and 160 hd. I have even seen a 500 gb external hard drive for around $200 Canadian which seems like an amazing price to me.
Try Lanserver Mobile storage... There's two options for connection.
1. Lan - serve as a NAS (Network Attached Storage). Configuration is on on webased interface. The advantage is you can share your file on multiple computers in your lan network. 2. USB - if you travel.
For all those who are interested out there, I already purchased my external 2.5" 120 GB Seagate harddisk for SGD $125 which is equivalent to a USD $83. I hope I got a good deal though. It has been working very well for me, no problems expected. A lot of harddisks I see always have problems when you try to safety remove the device and the only solution was to power down the entire PC and then remove it. But with Seagate, the only reason why I can't safety remove is when I have one of the folders open. Other than that, I have no problems whatsoever removing my harddisk from the USB port.
