HT (Hyper-Threading) is a technology Intel made to enables multi-threaded software applications to execute threads in parallel. In other words, it makes the CPU work about 25% faster for certain applications. You have to buy an Intel CPU that specifically identifies it supports HT.
![]() If you look at this picture, you will see a small H and T in the upper right of the logo. This specifies it has HT. Here is an article on Hyper-Threading: http://www.intel.com/technology/hyperthread/ I hope this helps. QUOTE You have to buy an Intel CPU that specifically identifies it supports HT. user posted image If you look at this picture, you will see a small H and T in the upper right of the logo. This specifies it has HT. yeah that's what frustrates me. because my sticker doesn't say HT, but when i run the Tweak-Xp Processor Check, it says it is. could it just be a glitch?
For enabling hyperthreading one goes in the BIOS....but of course your motherboard has to be able to handle HT!!!! (/me kicks shopkeeper of Pc-Clinic... darn non-computer people!). So I got a inferior CPU with HT support....and of course a inferior motherboard of 1994 without HT support...and they told me them both had HT support! (Mind you, I bought it 4 months ago). Info could say you have a HT support processor, but if you can't find where to activate it you might have a non-HT motherboard....good luck!
Hey dude, I don't have and never come across a Hyper-Threading PC... But I think these may help... http://mindfulmusings.net/weblog/2004/10/1...ng-motherboard/ QUOTE 1) Download and install Windows XP Service Pack 2 2) Find the following files (normally in your c:windowsservicepackfiles) - ntkrnlmp.exe - halmacpi.dll and copy them to your c:windowssystem32 folder. (This is considering your new motherboard has ACPI support. I know that these files will support non-ACPI computers as well, but that has not been tested) 3) Open up boot.ini in your text editor and find the following line: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS=”Microsoft Windows XP Professional” /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn (or something of this sort) and replace that line with: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS=”XP Professional MP” /fastdetect /kernel=ntkrnlmp.exe /hal=halmacpi.dll Make sure there are no line breaks in that line. (backup your boot.ini and your hardware profile if you want, that might be a good idea) http://support.gateway.com/s/issues/2-1625912705.shtml http://www.devhardware.com/forums/t31312/s.html http://echeng.com/journal/index.php?p=968 http://ng.csharpfriends.com/top/ng/group~3...-___/index.aspx
go to www.cpu-z.com and download the CPU-Z program. That program will identify exactly what kind of CPU you are using as well as all the extras that it has enabled like MMX, SSE and hyperthreading.

Right Hyper-Treading not only found in CPU, even if you have CPU with HT supports it still requires a compatibility with mainboard, some board don't support Hyperthreading, there is a mainboard that really designed for HT. In short to enable hyperthreading you must have the two, CPU and the MaindBoard.
If you fail to enable Hyper Threading, don't cry your eyes out because of it! Take a look at this online article from the PCWorld magazine:
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,107492,00.asp Here is straight-forward comment from them: QUOTE Technology a Bust? Why would a speedier chip that is capable of acting like two processors have so little positive impact on test scores? QUOTE If you fail to enable Hyper Threading, don't cry your eyes out because of it! yeah well after all this i wasn't able to enable it. Guess the motherboard doesn't support it. i wanted to speed up my work in premiere, but i'm thinking now of just buying a good desktop and forking over the extra cash rather than tinkering around with the laptop. Replying to grnjdIt is easier then it sounds just check the device manager and see if it has two proccesors listed. If it does you have hyperthreading enabled.
How do you find out if you have hyperthreading enabled or not? I have no idea, thanks You Three finger salute, (press control alt delete) then select the performance tab... then hold alt and press v then c then p if you don't see two graphs for your cpu usage, and you have a pentium 4 Hyper Threading processor you need to contact me or follow the advice on that page.. have a good day ..
