Fixed your quote. You just had the end tag's / backwards.
check the email header and send a copy to paypal so they're aware of the fraud. I've been getting tons of these for like everything right. I got one that said it was from msn, yahoo, paypal even my bank and other banks. Had a not so bright friend who actually used the link that's in the email and signed into his account and surprise surprise he lost it right after that. Whoever it was that sent the email got his info and changed his password so he wasn't able to log back in. Of course we all thought it was funny. round
These email fraudsters have been getting increasingly sophisticated. I've had 2 HTML emails recently from banks which had all the right logos & graphics and came from what looks like an authentic email address (e.g. info@nameofthebank.com). The only thing is, I don't have accounts with those banks so knew straight away something was up. But if I was with one of those banks, there'd be no way of telling it was a fake. So best practice seems to be to view ALL emails relating to finances, banks etc with suspicion until you can prove otherwise.
you know i would send them bogus info with lots of swear words and spam the crap out of them.
I got one of them emails about some guy who's got loads of money but it's all tied up and he needs your help to get the funds out of the country (he claimed he was Fillipino instead of Nigerian for a change) and asked for contact details to discuss the deal, so I sent him the phone number of the Australian Federal Police's on-line fraud deparment.
Paypal Scam? I don't have Paypal, but still, those fraud people should get a life. It's a pretty obvious scam, and still (sadly) some people still fall for them.
--- I remember the Nigerian Scam email (I hear about people falling for it). I got one. And I replied (LOL) I said, I won't accept anything. They replied ignoring my message and told me to dial a number and they were keen to have me fall for it, too bad. Didn't they read my email? I said I won't have it happen. I'm starting to think those where computer generated mails.

Really? I live in the Philippines, so that got me so upset. I wonder how it'll feel to recieve an email about a guy wanting to transfer money from the Philippines, and you LIVE in the Philippines. Anyway Tyssen, I really want to see that email. I hope you didn't delete it! I could report that to the local police, although I highly doubt they'll take much action. It's not FBI quality . But that was interesting.
I got an e-mail similar to this like someone hacked my account but I DON'T got an account at PayPal. I also check the addresses, did not match. Also notice the layout was slightly different (you have to compare the two pages). It was the first fraud e-mail I found out about. We all know PayPal will not ask you to re-active your account (or something like that).

GMail has actually done a lot of things to prevent phishing examples like these. What they do is they look at the "from" header and if it doesn't say example@paypal.Com... It's obviously not from PayPal and GMail won't except it, it won't even show up in your spam folder. Also from those messages that are real GMail puts a little key next to there name letting you know that it is in fact a legitamate email.
Yeah this should be mentioned more on the news and everywhere around the internet, because many poeple just give away their important info and someone than steals their money!
NEVER, i repeat NEVER SHOULD YOU SEND ANYTHING IMPORTANT with email....not a single company wishes you to send your personal info or something accross the net with email...
Unfortuneately, it's a fact of life that we have to deal with this things. I get alot of penis enlargement spam coming into my email. Most of it is taken care of by my email client (Mozilla Thunderbird), but there's some i still need to get rid of manually.
Hey i was checking out my span section and found this EMail in it, as i was saying, I dont have a Pay Pal account...it is kinda funny. Four Different EMail but yet the same "FRAUD".

I was happily browsing the web so I decided to check my Yahoo! email. I got like 4 emails that were
bounced back by Mail-Daemon. Apparently, I had tried to send this spam mail to some MSN groups!? It
was bounced back to me because I had to be a member of that group to send emails. (Whew!)

Currnetly there are several jokers out there who try to send fake emails pretending to be from eBay
itself. Such emails may be used to steel personal as well as financial data is the user recieving

tips: I am posting the mail I got from eBay as it is so that the users of Trap17 can also detact an

I have seen posts about what kind of messages are out there fooling members to give up private
information--especially when PayPal sent you one. Oh no! No way, PayPal address cannot be faked.
Wrong. I almost gave away my entire personal information about 3 years ago. And the fake messages
are getting better and better. Even the site that links to looks too real. So I decided to share
this with you, in hopes that no one from TRAP17 are suckered into giving up what is private
information. PS I know everyone knows this but let's spread the word and see how many more we....
Many people don't care about email account security and just go for a Hotmail account because
it's automatically MSN compatible or a Gmail account because it has lots of space. But out of
those of you who choose your email based on safetey and security, which client do you recommend?
There are tons out there. Personally, I use GMX.net, it's a German service with extremely high
security. They have a password meter to check your password for how easy or hard it might be to
guess, encouraging you to use upper and lower case letters along with numbers. They veri....
QUOTE A new scam by hackers has some people believing they are receiving an e-mail about a
critical update to Windows when in actuality they are installing a Trojan horse, Sophos said on
Friday. The e-mail directs victims to a fake version of the Windows Update site, where there are
links to download the malicious "patches." "The email uses the Microsoft branding and style so to
the casual observer it appears to be legitimate," Gregg Mastoras, Senior Security Analyst at Sophos,
told BetaNews. If users download the "patches," they are actually installing the Troj/DS....
