The tutorial isnt bad but in my opinion its not much of a tutorial, it basically gives you some code and says look at that, now copy and paste, change a few variable names and youve just written some code. I prefer tutorials that are more like: Ok we need this this and this, to make it work we put this here and that there, now test it and see how it works, now change this that and that etc etc etc... But still if you wanted a quick system that seems good at a glance.
i did a system similar to this myself but it worked in a very different way, instead of using a case statement i simply used an IF to make sure that the page variable wasnt NULL and then used the page variable value eg "news" as the page name so that would link to a file called "news.htm" just added ".htm" to the end of the page variable's value and tried to open that file, if it works then they see the page, if not they get an error also controlled by an IF statement
I suppose its not the most secure method but it seems to work, ive tried to open files in other directories and on other domains and i just get an error.
Such dynamic scripts are very useful... I had a similar script, that took page variable, and based on it's number, showed certain file, defined in $pages array...
I made that script way back, when I was new to PHP... Today, I'm still no expert, but new version of script will use MySQL, to display text that would appear when certain page is expected... Main advantage of using MySQL for content, is that you can have some sort of a back office, to update your site, from anywhere in the world, you save disk space, and you can have one unique template for all pages... Or you can even put entire templates inside MySQL... Possibilities are endless

Hello, now this may be a stupid question but i'm very new to php so i need some help. what
i'm wanting to do is combine 2 pages in to one. like for example the install.php for
invisionpower board it starts with one page and you click continue and it gives you a whole new page
but if you look at the url you are still using the install.php file but it has somethinglike "?a=2"

The thing that has been bugging me for a while was that switch statement that we use to create ID
browsing (some use If-Ifelse but results are the same for both). I wanted to figure out a way to use
more dynamic switch statement so that i only need to update my links array in order to create links
for template. With use of foreach, array_keys, and in_array functions finally i managed to do so.

Hi, What I am trying to achieve is when you have a form drop down menu, it displays all the
categories from the directory, with all the indentations. Something like when you submit your site
to a directory. Now I've got it almost working, but I can figure out how to indent it. The code
below, I've used a spacer gif, but obviously that won't work! I've had a go at

We're doing a "Mock" e-commerce site for our project in Web Development and I was wondering how
to make a Search form like the ones in many sites. There will be a Search textbox and a button in
the form which will accept a string (keywords) which will then be processed by a script. If there

I am looking for a way to make a dynamic menu using php and include, basicly I want to make a file
that contains html formating source and links and include it somewhere in all my pages, the problem
is that links are taken literaly and refered to as to where the html is running from. So is there a
way I can make a file and include it in my pages, then it will determin where the page is running

my site. now i have found away people can mess with this using the url. this means people can

Hey everyone. I am having some trouble accessing the same php class instance in more that one page.
This is for my login script and what i need to do is be able to call the classes logout function
from a separate page. What i have tried to do is create a new .php page and include the class file
and then make a new class and call logout. This does not work because it does not log out the
current user which is my problem. Can anyone help me fix this or know of another way to do it?
