is this a sleep disorder of some sort? I told my mom about it and she thinks i'm just joking around
First thing you need to do is convince your mother that you are NOT "just joking around." I don't have an answer for you about whether or not this is a sleep disorder, but I would take it seriously. Sounds a little like some kind of panic attack to me, but I am no doctor. You do need to see a doctor about this regardless. Sit down and have a serious talk with your mom. Good Luck!
My brother has a similar experence, he says theres some kind of ghost holding him down trying to kill him but I dont know. I dont believe its a ghost to be honest maybe some type of mental disorder, that sounds more logical then a ghost doing that too him.
Make sure your mum knows your serious and go see a doctor like mich said. better safe then sorry.
I once saw people sufferring like that on the biggest loser, it's a problem with people who are overweight or have large breasts. It's excess body-bits blocking your airways.
If you're not overweight, then I have no idea. I went to bed at around 10 am (because i was here on trap cause i'm an addict is this a sleep disorder of some sort? I told my mom about it and she thinks i'm just joking around OK...this is a very real problem for some people. I recently saw a TV program about people with the problem you describe. It is called Sleep Apnea. It can be dangerous so you need to get professional help...Convince your Mom of that! Here is a link you can show her http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2001.../modafinil.html Also, I personally have trouble sleeping and I know why. I have a deficency in a particular NeuroTransmitter. NeuroTransmitters are chemicals that interact with the end points of neurons. These chemicals are produced naturally by the body and are essential for communication between Neurons. The NeuroTransmitter I lack is called Dopamine. Here is a link showing some research results http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2001.../modafinil.html I beleive in Alternative medicine rather than swollowing an darn pill the pharmicutical industry decides is going to make them millions. So, I would recommend that you look for a Kensiologist in your local area. Here is a link to the Sleep Hotline describing Kinesiology and a therapy http://www.sleephotline.com/Sleep/categori...logy-Sleep.html I and others I know have terrific personal success using Kensiology and a treatment for various problems. It is an exciting alternative to main stream medical prctices. All the best.

Yea i believe in that ghost thingy but yea thanks everyone for the feed back i'll definitely talk to my mom about it because it scares me lol thats why i'm on so late at night! till early morning ---------------------------------EDIT---------------------------------------------- I found out that my dad has sleep apnea and he had to get that weird respirator looking thing to breath properly at night! Except he got that machine thing because he would stop breathing for about 30 seconds at night and it cause him to have a hard time sleeping!! This happened to me before too. You can read about it here: http://www.trap17.com/forums/index.php?s=&...st&p=372683 I went to bed at around 10 am (because i was here on trap cause i'm an addict is this a sleep disorder of some sort? I told my mom about it and she thinks i'm just joking around Convincing your mum that you weren't joking around would be the first option. If she still doesn't beleive you , search for help on the internet. If you feel your heartbeat slowing that is quite serious. Or you could contact your doctor in the area =D Hope I helped
Sorry. But could it all be just a dream? Because from my knowledge unless you are extremely dehydrated, or out of energy (food) - your heart will beat faster as you breath slower and vice versa, in order to keep the oxygen level that reaches your brain stable at all time.
First you must convince your mom that your not kidding. If she don't beleive you you could stop breathng and then she would think your just playing. Something like that used to happen to my dad then he went to the doctor and they told him that it was kind of like asthma but he couldn't do much about it accept for taking some pills. When he got the medicine. i started getting better in a couple of weeks. I dont think he does it anymore, but im not sure

You really are dying in your sleep. Again last night I came the closest to dying I ever have. The numbness set in, could not wake myself up, breathing was faint and chest pain and head pain increased as body went totally numb. For some uknown reason I thrashed and jerked myself and fought violently to make myself move in areas that were clamping off and losing circulation. I fought so hard I dislocated my shoulder. I stagger after these episodes and usually can't walk. It takes an hour or so go regain circulation. Even after I regain circulation my head feels dead. Yesterday I left my keys in the car and my car running. My friend Stephen said, Sherry, you left your keys, that is wrong with you! I said, I've never done this before. I feel I'm too far gone to wake. It's like you're dead mentally. I feel dead sometimes in sleep but last night it was worst. Almost didn't. A very hard battle. It's gotten harder to where I feel tonight may be my last. I may not wake up. -reply by sherry

Dying In My Sleep? Replying to Tunay Just to let you know I have suffered with this experiance for years, it starts with a loud buzzing noise in your sleep which then makes you concious of being awake even though your not. It sometimes feels like you can see through your eyelids while asleep, if you know what I mean, then as you become more aware you feel the need to remind yourself to breath and thats when the struggle begins to awake yourself, sometimes its my heart I think is slowing down and even though I'm asleep I start to tell myself if I don't breath I'm going to die, but you find if you ride with it, you don't actually die at all your body kicks into gear and your breathing and heart will just carry on as normal, at first it is very frightening but if you like me you will get used to it. I personally don't know why this happens to me, I preffer to see it as a kind of spiritual experiance like an out of body experiance, but after nearly ten years of going through this I'm still here, still sleeping still breathing and my heart is still beating... -reply by urbana I went to bed at around 10 am (because i was here on trap cause i'm an addict is this a sleep disorder of some sort? It is probably, though only a doctor could tell you for certain, REM paralysis. Sometimes while dreaming I also would wake up, usually because the dream was about spiders - a particular phobia of mine. Now I wasn't listening to my heart or my breathing, I was holding perfectly still because in those dream-ridden moments I was certain that there was something vile in the darkness that would pounce if I made a single movement or sound. If you are particularly worried about dying in your sleep that might be what is causing your problems.
Now a few words about Sleep Apnea. The danger of Sleep Apnea is that when the throat closes enough to deny sufficient oxygen to the lungs the heart works extra hard to extract the oxygen it can. A long enough time without air and the brain will wake the body up long enough to get a breath. Mild Sleep Apnea means your body isn't really getting rest. Full blown Sleep Apnea is like your heart ran a marathon while you slipped in and out of sleep.
As well as everyone else - tell your mum that you aint joking, then see the doctor. You could be athsmatic, but theres a chance. You might be layed in a bad position, try adding a few pillows underneath your head to see if that helps. Usually i cant breathe very well when i lay flat on my back. Adjustable beds actually solve snoring problems because the throat, when you are perfectly horizontal, clamps together so the person snores.
