| | If you like dreamweaver and are using linux i would recommend bluefish. It is very similar and easy to use. When i am in windows i use dreamweaver and when im in linux i use bluefish. I think they are almost the same except since dreamweaver isnt free it does have a bunch more options but most of them i dont use anyway. |

Well, I personally feel that Quanta Plus that I've used on Mandrake linux free distribution was quite good and can be used by hobbists. Zend Studio can also be used for php script writing that you haven't mentioned here. Not being involved in serious web development I haven't used many different php ides but still I won't suggest you to use Nvu. -Abhishek Dubey

Replying to gogoilyI was googling around and found Aptana from www.Aptana.Org along with Quanta Plus at http://quanta.Kdewebdev.Org Both appear to be very good IDEs for web development although I have not yet tried them out but will. "And if you have money to burn and serious skillz0rz, pay for Zend." I have been using Zend for over a year and its completely inappropriate for all aspects of web design. Although its good for editing PHP its HTML/CSS/JavaScript editing abilities are non exisitent, you may as well be using notepad. -reply by asio

I use both Mac OS X (Tiger) and openSUSE on my work computers. I script heavily in PHP and mySQL. Having used the CS3 on my Mac I did get it to work under Crossover. That is the best way to go because you will be able to grow better with the Creative Suite. If you are a hobbyist then just stick with Quanta. -reply by Nick

Replying to thesimuniverseLinux and Windows speak different languages. You cannot run a program that speaks Windows on a desktop OS that speaks Linux. It is more complex than this. Try Bluefish, Komposer, or Quanta. Also there is wine. Wine acts like translator between a windows program and a linux based OS. I think it now has around 98% accuracy. I have not tried it though. I encourage you to use an open source alternative. It may not be as developed as dreamweaver, but there is a quicker response to bug issues and if there is something you want added in the next version you can simply contact the developers and have them put it on the next release. -reply by Hallbjorn

(23) Hey guys I use dreamweaver to code my sites, I heard even though the "hardcore" people dont use it,
its at least better than front page. And what I was wondering is are there any website

Dreamweaver's a good Webdesigning Studio (22) I recently downloaded Macromedia's Dreamweaver 8, and I can say that it is the greatest
webdesigner that the world has ever seen! The only problem is that it costs too much money in my

Dreamweaver Permissions Issue
Access denied when trying to FTP (5) Okay, so I was trying to FTP these files over dreamweaver today... and it seemed to be working fine.
But then, certain files won't let me transfer from my hard drive to the internet, or the other
way around. It gives me this error message: QUOTE An FTP error occured - cannot put form1.html.
Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem. Anyway, I know
that the file does indeed exist. I've opened it on my hard-drive... and it is there. But it

Whenver I go to download a cool website template, it always say "This website template was made with
