is it really free??? I've always known about illegally downloading movies but its great that a site offers legal movite download, even if they are all home made and not proffesional. Are these movies long like 100 mb or short like 3 mb?? Hopefullt there short because of my slow connection!

it seems not a lot of posters in this thread really understand the concept behind these free movie downloads. most especially with the concept of "public domain". so here is a bit of lowdown on this:

so YES, these are FREE to view and download as you wish, since no more legal impediments are now present to hinder these for public dissemination.

and YES, they are mostly classics, since they are mostly the feature films and shorts which have crossed over to the public domain, because of the time element involved. their copyright and patents have expired. read the bold text in quote above. so you won't be seeing the latest spiderman and superman, or anything else of recent blockbuster renown in there.

and YES, they are mostly in black and white, since color has not yet been incorporated in movies of old. you have to wait a couple more years to come if you want colored feature films and shorts passing over to the public domain.

length and size of videos vary as well, depending on what type it is and the quality of encoding. if you find a movie you can't run on your machine, then you don't have the proper codec in the first place to view it. download the appropriate codec.

just always remember, THIS IS NOT YOUTUBE.

But I still prefer torrent download tho. Have you tried it yet?
I use BitComet as my torrent client and search for movies using Google.
I'm not sure how legal it is, but I never sell what I download.
I've downloaded two movies so far - The Lake House and Click.
The quality is fantastic.
You should try it sometimes.

ps. BitTorrent is no good. Don't use it

'Charade' seems to have been removed Anyway I found a torrent that is still alive :

(or you can go to www.isohunt.com and search for 'charade'.
But you'll need software like utorrent or bittorrent to download it.
(u can get utorrent from www.utorrent.com or www.download.com)
Not many seeders/leechers, so the download is painfully slow.
Maybe if you guys join in and download this movie, everyone will have better download speeds.

Well obviously it's illegal, at least in most countries, but it's unlikely you'll be prosecuted unless you upload large amounts of material on bittorrent.

This seems really cool that you can download movies legally. I had heard about bittorent in the past but i had always heard bad things about it being very slow and the fact the it is illegal. But if this is actaully legal that is pretty cool so thanks for the link to the site.

I really wish I was into these classic movie things because this is a really great find. The only black and white movie ive ever sat down and actually watched was Clerks! lol
