hi guys its me the noob again..well ya i searched around but i couldnt find the answer to this question..do i have to buy a domain name to change my subdomain to a domain?? for ex. my domain now is www.wow.trap17.com and i want it to be www.wowproductionz.com???is their a way???i went to the changing domain names and they just confused the crap crap out of me,... forgive me for being such an idiot..i promise this will be my last questiion smile.gif hopefully smile.gif

hi theillestmc12,

yes, if you want a domain name of your own, u need to purchase it. Only the trap17 subdomain comes for free(fair enough).
After that point it to Trap17. ( By specifying the Nameservers as NS1.TRAP17.COM and NS2.TRAP17.COM ).
Your domain will work within 1/2 days after the domain mapping propogates all over the internet.

I know you're qestion has already been answered, but I had thought of an intresting metaphore when I read the response.

You could say a domain is like a PO Box, You can live in any house you want, or even in a cardbord box if you like. But the PO Box stays the same. Simmilarly to a Domain name you can't tell people to send you a letter at that box until you have paid for it, well I guess you could the letter might just get returned, and once you've paid for the box, and configured yourself to go check the box it takes a few hours for your Post Office to tell all the other post offices around the world that your PO Box in now open!

    really do love the free hosting here and would hate to have to leave and be charged a monthly fee.

    Ok I just bought a domain name from yahoo.com (www.ageofilluminati.com) Right now my website is
    www.childrenofconan.trap17.com/index.html I want to be able to change my domain so when I visit
    www.ageofilluminati.com it will direct everything. Forsay when I hit downloads it will direct to
    www.ageofilluminati.com/downloads.html not www.childrenofconan.trap17.com/downloads.html. I havent
    set it up yet and I just want to be able to change this information so it works. I know that the

    I looked everywhere in Cpanel but I can't find where I can change the DNS records for my domain.
    This is the only thing stopping me from moving my website over to trap17, because I need to manage
    DNS myself. If I can't manage it then at least I should be able to disable it. And Trap17 offers
    professional hosting so they shoulf offer this too. EDIT: There should be somewhere in Cpanel that
    allows us to have Custom DNS Records, but I can't find it or it's not enabled.....

    Hi, everyone, I've just got a couple things I need some clearing up, I'm not too acquainted
    with how domains and hosting configure to each other and whatnot. 1) If lets say I register a top
    level domain www.topleveldomain.com or whatever from any domain provider (godaddy, yahoo..), could I
    configure that to my trap17 free hosting account (I don't have one at the moment)? Or with
    trap17 hosting account am I limited only to subdomains? 2) How many hosting credits do you lose if

    another 1) it is shown obviously how much credits you require to request a website, but what are
    the ongoing credit costs (ie does the 20mb offer require 10 credits to setup then 10 credits a month

    I'm a little confused right now.I've got the necessary credit points for an account but
    before proceeding i would like to be adviced how to do regarding a name for my domain:should i buy
    one or reserve a free one that's confortable with me or should i get the default trap17? I have
