Does Somebody Know Drupal? - is it good or bad?

webaurores
i've been checking some CMS (Content Managment System, a script to administrate content), and i noticed SpreadFirefox uses a script called Drupal. i checked Drupal's website and downloaded last stable version.
i've just installed it, and seems fine. but i'd like a review or if somebody can tell me if it's good or bad.
i don't want to search "drupal review" or something, because results can be manipulated (it's called "google bombing" or something) and hope some one of you can give me any suggestion about it.

(please, don't post "i don't know, i only use php-nuke" or something. it's ok, but it's not about this post)

I couldn't say for sure myself. On my hosting account I have many choices of CMS available in Fantastico. I ran into the same problem trying to to decide which one to use. Finally, I thought that software like Drupal. phpNuke, Geeklog, Xoops and the like are great for company websites, but I doubt I would need that much for a personal website.

I did visit the website and it seems like it's a very dependable CMS. If you haven't experienced any problems using it so far, then by all means continue using it.

To be frank I don't like Drupal very much, but consider this as a personal remarks not to be taken too strongly... In fact I have had experience of using most of the content management systems like php-nuke, postnuke, mambo, xoops, phpwebsite and others. When I installed all those cms I could learn by myself how to operate it. And they all seems quite reasonably easy to operate. However in the case of Drupal I found that it was not a common man's cms, it was quite complicated. I surfed and searched the forum - how to use the system and I struggled more than any other content management systems. Therefore, I have to conclude that Drupal is the most difficult cms to operate. Besides it doesn't have so much of choices when it comes to THEMES. Therefore, most of the drupal sites are more or less the same.

About forum:
Forum is one of the most important incredient of any content management systems. The forum in drupal doens't look impressive at all. Its just too plain with no graphics and its looks like a normal news page even for forum. I think the forum isn't looking very good.

In this case, php-nuke, post and others including mambo, xoops are much better.

My preferences is like this mambo, xoops, postnuke, phpwebsite and others.

Drupal is not that bad, But i would rate 5/10 . the usability is gud. but the problem is the number of themes or related downloads is less. In this case PHP nuke is the ultimate. You have very gud support from various fan sites. Stability wise there is no problems with drupal. Securitywise i guess PHPnuke/post nuke is better than drupal. i have used mambo, postnuke, drupal as well as ph nuke. for CMS i would rate

1 ...php nuke
2 ...postnuke
3 ...mambo
4 ...drupal

Hope that rating helps you in finalising ur CMS

Drupal is not as userfriendly and feature-rich as Mambo.

Drupal is okay for small personal sites. But if you wnat to make a site with good features and contant for a large number of usres, I would recommend Mambo to you. It is really very good.

Have you seen Drupal sites, I feel they look more like 'blog' sites, not profesional websites. Mambo is another story. You can check out my site in the signature below for an example of Mambo...
