| | Well, I don't like Harry Potter, just not my type of book, same with The Lord of the Rings, I don't like that kind of writting, I'd rather read something that teachs me something, that makes my brains think and work and well harry Potter is not one of those books, it's just like watching reallity t.v. I watch it, to pass the time (when there isn't anything else to watch, and well I don't have cable so...) but yeah what I've learned from those t.v shows is NOTHING same with Harry Potter and The Lord Of The Rings..... |

I agree with Brandice. Roald Dahl is a wonderful, whimsical author. My favorite book when I was growing up was The BFG, and Matilda, mostly because Matilda's just like me :-p Right, back to HP. I fell asleep during all three movies. I dislike movies that cut out major plot points, and where action is dominant over plot. When Harry Potter was a fad at my intermediate, I was very bored, that is...until I started reading the books. I was enchanted. Here was a boy who unlocked a magical world and had a mysterious past. Those were the days I wished I was at Hogwarts. I think they're wonderful books that both adults and children can either 2) relate to, or 2) enjoy for their entertaining qualities. Some parts have you crying, some parts have you seething with anger, and sometimes, you're laughing along side the characters. While it is true that it is a fantasy world, do not hesitate to believe that your own world can be magical. And that it's all about.

Oh, right, my second rant. Don't judge a book by its movie. You'd be surprised. That's why I always read the book before watching the movie. It's much better that way!

The only reason why I keep reading Harry Potter is because its addictive. I thought it was boring but I love fantasy though. JK Rowling's books are popular only because they are aimed at all ages from adults to 8 year olds. Personally, I think the idea is unoriginal.

Yeah, you can't judge a book by it's movie. Look at Timeline for a perfect example. Also, the movies really aren't that great. The first two are horrible, and the third is an okay movie, but not great. And I don't JKR is a great author. Sure, the books are great, but the fifth made me really question her abilities to write. I am a huge HP fan, but the fifth one was BORING. The writing itself is still the same, but there was no plot. Then I started thinking about it, and the other books don't really have a plot, either. It's just stuff happening that happens to be really entertaining. Then they just HAD to make movies. I think that they should have waited and have Peter Jackson do them lol (after he does King Kong and The Hobbit of course).

Although it does seem like a children's book, it doesn't matter to me, because I once was a child. I believe that Harry Potter is a cool book and I'd like to read the new books and watch the coming movies. Another thing about people I hate sometimes (not talking about anyone in particular, just people) is that they really like something and then a little later, they just start hating and thinking it's stupid and childish. If you were ever a true fan of something, you wouldn't turn your back on it and hate it. An example I use all the time is Pokemon. I liked it back then, I'll like it until it's dead. You have no idea how many people who hate it now liked it about 3 or 4 years ago... (same goes for HP) (this is just my opinion)

sad to see so many harry haters... dude, at my high school harry potter is huge- but of course, so is teenage mutant ninja turtles, recess, etc etc. I'm serious man- I guess we're just that cool. But actually, J.K Rowling did not write Harry Potter for children- she wrote it for adults, it just got simply marketed to kids, and hence harry became a kid. I'm not saying you have to like harry potter- or saying any of this to be annoying- I just thought i'd put in my own thoughts... I'm 17, and yet still refer to myself (as others do to themselves) as a kid- I mean, I'm a theatre kid. So I don't know how I am an not really any of you harry haters, but- I love acting like a kid- and yet for the longest time sophmore year a lot of people thought I was the most serious acting person they'd ever met... this is just my opinion, but I do find a lot of books boring, but... you can't simply say a book is boring and have that what the book truly is- because it's just maybe not your thing- don't diss philosophy just because it isn't your marzipan is kind of what I say- and it applies to books to. some people think the Lord of the Rings books are the most boring things ever- actually a lot of people do- and yet not only is it one of the great classics of literature, but there's the this world-sized impact of the movies... it's all a matter of perspective. I for one, am proudly obsessed. He's harry potter! I mean, he got stuck under the cupboard beneath the stairs! Who can't relate?? ...it's -all- a matter of perspective- while none of you might like harry potter, I simply think you're all silly muggles.

Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows
WARNING: MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS! ONLY READ IF YOU HAVE READ THE WHOL (18) I was wondering, can this be a discussion for the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter
series? Because I really want to talk about it. Great book! Do you think that the ending is a
bit.. predictable? I mean, it was kind of obvious (to me) that Hermione and Ron would
eventually.. Marry each other? As with Harry and Ginny. But I like Harry's kid the best, the one
that looks like him. Albus Severus, right? Or was it Albus Snape? Hmm.. I remember it was Albus

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
talking about the book itself and thoughts (10) Well, I figured I mine as well make the post for the book. I know Albus is probably reading it
considering his screen name is named after the former character. Anyway, I've read a few
articles about it and have heard that people are pretty satisfied with the ending. The storyline
has changed so much as Harry has grown older. I've also read though that there is lots of death
occurring throughout the book, but of course I guess that is part of the name. I purchased my copy
last night and have started reading chapter one. Please post what you think of it but ....
Harry Potter(7) And The Deathly Hallows
Lets talk about the last book! (spoiler warning) (31) As all Harry Potter fans may now: The last book is coming out soon. It is going to be released July

: QUOTE * Harry will return to the home of his non-magical (Muggle) relatives, the Dursleys
(whose cooperation has been requested by Albus Dumbledore), during the school holiday. The magical
protection Dumbledore arranged, which requires Harry to have a home with them, is set to expire when
Harry comes of age (see below).HBP Ch.4 * Harry plans to visit the remains ....

Harry Potter Is The Source Of All Evil.
(26) Not in the world, but in the series. Here is my synopsis: Oh yeah, it's kinda spoiler
intensive, so if you have not yet read the books, you might not want to continue reading. Hmm,
wonder if this board has spoiler tags? Book 1. Killed a teacher at the the school he attended.
Arguments against: He was preventing the capture of the stone, and He was a dark wizard anyway.
Arguments for: If Harry did not persue the stone in the first place, it would not have needed

For Harry Potter Haters
(16) Don't be so stupid as to say 'omg I well hate harry potter - I watched the movies and they
were boring so I just didn't bother with it ever again! its just for kidz lolz' That's
simply ridiculous The books are almost completely separate things from the movies MOST people who
have read the books dislike the movies anyway I agree completely that the Harry Potter films are
made for a young audience And books 1 and 2 are also made for a young audience But beyond that the
books contain some quite adult themes, and were definately written with a more '....

The 6 Horcruxes
Another Harry Potter thread ! (13) What do you reckon the 6 horcruxes will be then... Obviously we know the diary was one And the

dumbledore destroyed (we don't know much about that really) Something of ravenclaws, hufflepuffs

went to kill Harry. Dumbledore also thinks that voldemort planned to make a horcrux w....
Ultimate Harry Potter Spoiler
Read spoiler at your own risk (10) Harry Potter Spoilers Read spoiler at your own risk Alright now here is MY
theory on the whole "Snape is innocent, no shut up, he's guilty" thing: I was reading a
transcript of an interview that J.K. Rowling gave to some newspaper or magazine, I'm not sure
which, but it was about the guy asking her if she liked Harry Potter : Prisoner of Azkaban, the
movie. According to Rowling, she got "goosebumps" after watching it because it revealed a major
spoiler for later in the series (i.e., book seven). Today, I was watching Prisoner of Az....
Harry Potter 6 Spoilers!
Warning: Harry Potter 6 Spoilers (22) Yesterday, I was re-reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince , and I have deduced that
Snape's allegiences indeed lie with the Order of the Phoenix. Here is why: At the top of the
Astronomy Tower near the end of the book, Dumbledore admits to Malfoy that he knew about the mission
Voldemort entrusted to Malfoy. However, he knew that Malfoy is not a murderer and therefore would
not kill dumbledore, so he asked snape to kill dumbledore instead so that Malfoy would not be killed
by Voldemort. Coincidentally, Snape had made an unbreakable vow to Narcissa Malfoy ....

More Book 7 Theories (9) WARNING: SOME SPOILER DETAILS FROM BOOK SIX! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Haha, suckers. More Harry
Potter and you can't do nothin' bout it, ye hear?! Indeed. So here is my theory for Book 7,
which I heard from an unconfirmed source but it is still kinda fun: There is another prophecy
concerning Harry that he does not know about, which again was forseen by Professor Trelawney and
told to Dumbledore around the time the first prophecy was made. But surprisingly, it was about
Harry's romantic destiny, not Voldemort. Dumbledore decided not to tell Harry about thi....
Harry Potter 7 Theories
Sorry to bombard everyone with HP btw. (50) So, what do people actually think's going to happen in the last book, now the sixth one is out

think? Or do people just read the books and take in what happens then?....

chance to catch up with the Harry Potter books. They are all amazing. Once I started, I just
couldn't stop. Not only do I feel like I have to continue to read til the end of the book, but
also once I have finished one I sooo much want to read the next book. Was just wondering now which
one you like best (out of the five)? I think I like the third one most (the prisoner of Azkaban).
