Uncle Bob
Jul 13 2005, 10:50 AM
| | I forget what they call the robots, but they have a computer screen, camera and infra-red sensor's. The doctor sits in his office 30 miles away and can speak to his patients through this robot and they can speak back. Just by sitting in that same seat he can control where the robot goes and review patient history and other important documents. By keeping this method of doctory around i think that the amount of doctors could become minimised because one doctor could serve to a whole heap of patients through this new technology. though you would still need doctors that can perform major opperations. I don't know whether you've heard about this but a doctor told how to perform some major opperation by using a mobile phone, i was crazy. With new technology coming out all the time we could be doing some great amazing things very soon. |

yep.. each of them cost around 100 thousand if im not wrong and if anyone wants to read more about it goto http://www.beyondtomorrow.com.au/stories/ep7/robot.htmli personally think that its really usefull but not too practicle as it might b an obstacle in the hospital because everyone is rushing in that place and if a slow moving robot is in the way it slows down the process and i still think nothing beats real person beat hving a real person next to you

hmm. since ill be with teh medical field in a couple of years, id still stick to the old ones.. nothing beats the actual talking and interaction with the patient, it would sound a little weird if you were talking to a robot XD and some patients would follow doctors instrtuctions more if they are able to interact with them too~

Anyone is use that feature to kill too. Robot killer that no one can stop. But hey, its a nice tomorrow technology. What if the robot ran dead, lets say batteries become dry or mechanical fault, the patient will be dead by then.

Itīs a good medical advance but I donīt think that the face-to-face with a doctor can be replaced by something like a videoconference and a machine.

Not a good idea. Think of all the doctors who would lose there jobs. A robot assistant would be ok. But i would never see robots being a doctor. Not in my time. How can they know what is an Apendix, etc.

48% Of Doctors Admit To Prescribing Placebos Just To Shut You Up
(4) QUOTE 48% Of Doctors Admit To Prescribing Placebos Just To Shut You Up According to a survey by
the University of Chicago, 48% of doctors said "they have given at least one treatment when there
was no evidence it would work." Placebo treatments included vitamins, herbal supplements, saline
infusions, dummy pills and doses of medicine too low to be effective. One of the most common placebo
treatments was giving antibiotics for viral infections that don't respond to antibiotics.

People Will Marry Robots In Future, Says Scientist!
(21) QUOTE Get ready to say 'I do' to R2-D2, because robots are going to be the perfect
marriage material. A British scientist claims humans and cyborgs will tie the knot in the not too
distant future. Artificial intelligence researcher David Levy was awarded a PhD today by a Dutch
university for his thesis, Intimate Relationships With Artificial Partners. He believes marriages
to robots will become common. The thesis examines changing attitudes towards the meaning of
marriage and the development of robotics. He says in the past that people only showed affect....

Robots : Our Future Or Our End
(75) Though right now only industrial robots are used except a very nominal percentage of population who
have robotic pets etc. , it will take just about 20 or so odd years before they will become part of
our daily lives. The one thing that comes to the mind as soon as hearing the word robot is that ,
how safe will they be . Thanx to the sci-fi flicks of hollywood most of us have created a negative
image about robots. I m a very great fan of science and i dont like it when people speak in
negative sense about science. But in this field i have a different opinion. As i m a....
Question About Robots.txt File
What exactly does it do? (4) I ran a search about this file and found a link that took me to a site to generate a
robots.txt file. It also told me where to place it in my file manager. However, I just don't
understand exactly what this file does. I do get that it prevents some search engines from poking
around in all my files. Is this all it does? What are the consequences of not preventing this from
happening? My folders are most all graphic sets that I offer for free viewing. I do not use my
cgi-bin nor my mail. I am only using my public_html folder. I do see in my errors log....

Robots And Sub-domains
Do the Bots see the Sub-domains (2) I guess I have had a site up for a few months now and the Googlebots and others are beginning to
find the site, according to the Web Stats at least. My question is: when the Bots travel through
and spider a site, do they actually see the sub-domains associated with the main domain? And do the
contents of the sub-domains affect the schedule for the return of the Bots in the same way as good
Content would affect the return? For instance, if you regularly update a sub-domain and keep adding
or changing the content, will the Bots be back quicker or more regularly? Are the d....
