- an x86 version? (1)
For those of you (er, any -if that's the case) who've heard about the Synthesis Kernel in
Massalin's PhD thesis, has anyone tried to make an x86 version? And to everyone who doesn't
know what I'm talking about: The Synthesis Kernel was a self-modifying os kernel written in 68k
assembly that emulated unix. (a Sun's version I think, I can't remember) Seems that the
emulation went faster than the real thing, maybe the only time that ever happened. /laugh.gif"

Is Os X (10.5.1) Tiger Ready For Prime Time?
- Would you install it on your computer? Have you? (4)
My nephew bought a new ibook a few months ago and I told him to hold off on installing Tiger because
it was so new I knew there would be problems with compatibility and bugs and stuff. So it's been
a while now, they've released 10.5.1 and .2 shouldn't be too far behind. The question is:
For those of you who've installed it, how do you like it? Is it pretty much bug-free by now or
are you having problems running your favorite software? If you don't have a Macintosh or an
informed opinion on the subject matter, please refrain from posting. Thank you....

It's the Novell first time shipped the Real Time. So I don't think it is at the most
effective coding for this release. Althrough it should without any critical issues. But I will wait
until it's service pack or next release. QUOTE Novell Tuesday released SUSE Linux
Enterprise Real Time 10, its open source operating system tuned for high-performance applications.
Novell is targeting the platform at vertical industries looking to support applications that need

Windows Vienna
- Next Version of Windows (13)
Windows "Vienna" is the next version of Windows following Windows Vista and soon to be released
Windows Longhorn Server. The next client version of Windows was originally codenamed "Blackcomb,"
though the company renamed it to "Windows Vienna" in early 2006 and to "Windows Seven" or "Windows
7" more recently. Microsoft currently plans to ship Vienna in 2009, about two to two and a half
years after Vista. The next major release of Windows is expected two years after Vienna, in 2011.
Features: Microsoft hasn't publicly committed to any features for Vienna and the...

Vista Desktop Installed!

So I finally got my hands on a Vista operating system for a clien at Plug Computers. Just yesterday
I sent out a system with the Home Premium for system builders edition on it. Got to play around with
it for a little bit, seems to be some pretty cool upgrades as far as securtiy and the way automatic
updates are done. I like it alot. If you are satsified with your windows XP and have a little bit
dated computer I would just stick with XP. Yeah vista is great, but you really need a solid computer
to run it and your applications smoothly. Your overall computing may be a bit...
Windows Vista Latest Version 5365 And 5381
- (10)
On April 22, Beta Testers for Windows Vista were given a new interim build - Build 5365 - to test.
Microsoft is atleast a month away from releasing Windows Vista Beta 2 and this interim build
showcases several enhancements we can expect to see coming in Beta 2. There seems to be alot more UI
refinement in this build as well as some great performance enhancements. Setup has also be refined
to let you see what stage the setup is at during the process. I can say that setup was a little bit
faster this time around but there's still alot of work in this area to be done t...

Command-line Scripting Into Next Version Of Windows
- (0)
I started watching the dot net show a while back, and I downloaded a few episodes particularly to
look at the future of Windows as a platform. There was quite a bit of stuff about the likes of
Avalon, and Indigo and suchlike, but there was also something very interesting about the new
Microsoft shell. Known as "Monad", or MSH, this is pretty much Microsoft's version of BASH or
KSH, but for Windows instead of UNIX. As someone pretty into UNIX because of its command line and
the ability to do shell scripts and so forth, I was immediately interested. Might be a little ...
