| | DeviantART was originally a skin/resource website but then became more of an organised art community. I use it, I submit my works every now and then, and I never get any comments like "huggles". The only time I see those such comments is on more "famous" people on deviantart. It is also a very popular website, and that's because people like it. You can learn from people's critism, from tutorials, and from looking at other people's works. There is also alot of skins and themes, ranging from winamp skins to visual styles. There is also alot of wallpapers. This site should atleast get a rating of 7/10, but I would give it a 9/10. |

tphilakone, all of your posts I've seen are 1-3 words. That's usually called spam. And BuffaloHELP says my "posts were lack of contents and brief".

As with most of the responses here I also feel that this is overly harsh on deviantart.com, for the main fact that is simply is not a review of the site but a review of the people that use that site. The site itself is very well designed and easily navigable (sp?) with the works clearly split into predefined (and get still flexible) categories, this is however more noticeable in the upload process. The community aspect of deviantart is perhaps one of the better I have seen on the web, if you so choose to use the community aspects. The wide selection of artwork available on deviantart also goes in its favour and to claim that the variable quality of the submissions is a bad point of the site (it is after all a site review, ok so I know content is important, but it is more important when it is not user content). I know when other sites in this vein impose quality controls it makes it difficult for newcomers to get their work showcased (and to ultimately gain feedback which will help them better there work). Deviantart.com has grown to become possible the biggest art community on the web (I've discounted Flickr, because it is solely aimed at photography) and this cannot be used against it, ok so you may not like some of the comments (by the way from my experience the comments posted there are almost always relevant and usually contain alot of feedback which is invaluable to budding artists digital or otherwise). Overall I'm going to give deviantart.com a 9 out of 10.

I like deviantart. It's a great place to get inspired or just simply to look at other peoples' work. Whether you're a serious artist, or if it's just a hobby, deviantart is a great place to display it.

I actually wanted to start a deviantart profile. I just have to get some pictures though to actually post on it! I like how people can "join" your art gallery thing. The posting comments about yoru art is really cool. I would see why so many people have it XD

I think Deviantart is a really good place for artists to share and sell their art. I only browse art, and I have really found some awesome wallpapers and tutorials there. I have never been on their forums and I probably wouldnt care. If you dont like their forums or people then why do you bother surfing them? Theres plenty on that page besides those people, and its a great place for people who are starting, having that type of help will definitely make them better designers in the future.
