Democracy is good according to many influential people, but at times personally I have never felt like I am in a democracy. What are my options? A Coalition government that can be anti-labour one day, and then look like they may pro-labour stance the next. The federal Labour party that seem to be in the middle, but have they got a clear policy!?! Oh and the slow but gradual decline of the democrat influence in the senate which apparently was meant "to keep the *BLEEP*s honest". I fall somewhere between middle class and lower class, also am a p/t uni student and get hit for everything. But the myths of being better off when getting a government job is true in some cases, false in others. But still personally I would be better off if I was lucky to score a gov based job, high income, less worries about bills, many free stuff (ie gym, some food, etc). It seems that middle class pays at least equal (if not more) tax at the same level of those in the higher income brackets. There are also issues ie health, water supply in some areas , but those who foot the bill seem to come from the middle class..

there is no perfect type of goverment each of them have their pro's and con's,we can only bring them as close to perfect as possible, democracy motto is by the people and for the people ,and it nis only people who make mistakes hehe, you may shout that the form of goverment is not working but again to change it is in your own hands ,nobody wants to go to politics but always want to went that the form of goverment is the worst ever,i don't think there was any time in the history at any place where people said this is the best sort of goverment ever, their are going to be prob lems always ,no matter what and as far as a gov job is concerned ,i think its not a good job, because your chances of moving ahead is more in a private company than a goverment job, private company would give you more opportunity than a goverment company, but if you don't want much opportyunity and want a secure job than i think the goverment job thing may work for you

I'm not sure that you live in a democracy. AU is formally a possession of GB, right? Like Canada, it's still based on royalty and still does nothing without the Queen's approval or am I wrong? The US isn't a democracy either. We're a representative republic and we're not well represented.

I think many aussies consider the nation to be an "inactive" constitutional democracy considering the Governor-General is usually the Queens representative by name only, and basically most decisions are made by their own those days without having to refer to the Queen, etc (have a look at their relationship with the US for example!.. and i'm not gonna go further there).

A Debate On Animal Testing
(6) I thought I should make this debate a bit more different: If you are for animal testing post in
blue If you are against animal testing, post in red Context: For many centuries people
have experimented on animals. There are two main reasons for doing this: first, to find out more
about the animals themselves, and, secondly, to test substances and procedures to see if they are
harmful (with a view to deciding whether or not they can be used on human beings). In the second
category fall cosmetic products as well as medicines and surgical techniques. There i....
The Debate Over Genetics
(1) The 20th century has witnessed major advancements in various scientific fields. The achievements
that have been made by the world’s brightest scientists and thinkers enormously contributed to the
prosperity of the human civilization. Among the most important advancements of the 20th century were
those that were accomplished in molecular biology and genetics, such as the applications of genetic
engineering and cloning. But the development of such honorable technologies, from a scientific point
of view, was accompanied by a furious debate from an ethical one. Genetics is ....
American Democracy?
(1) Democracy, in definition, is a system of government by which the sovereignty is retained by the
people. Democratic regimes usually guarantee the full rights and freedom of the person, where a
person’s freedom ends at the freedom of another. The United States of America is one of the most
democratic countries on the globe, at least that’s what everybody thinks is true… And the USA has
been waging wars and intervening in other countries’ affairs over the past few years in the name of
democracy and the liberation of suppressed people. But the question is how much of the dem....
"light Bulb Gets Flick In Australia"
(8) I got to conduct a presentation about the ban of light bulbs in Australia. Untill 2010 the
government wants to forbid them to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions:
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2007-02-...-bulb-ban_x.htm : QUOTE The Australian government
on Tuesday announced plans to phase out incandescent light bulbs and replace them with more
energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs across the country. Legislation to gradually restrict
the sale of the old-style bulbs could reduce Australia's greenhouse gas emissions by 4 million
tons by 2012 and cut ho....
The Big Debate On Cloning
Just something i think... (11) Hey guys i just wanted to share my thoughts on cloning with you.... so here goes: Cloning, genetic
engineering, and other forms of biotechnology are fast advancing, and there's no denying it.
The question is: Is this advance good for the human race, or is it bad? Cloning of humans is
seriously unethical and immoral and should be addressed soon because of its grave consequences.
Opposing cloning takes sophisticated knowledge and a mature mind to look past the big: It can save
lives excuse. The dilemma with cloning is not how many lives it can save, but how many li....

Should Languages Be Required For College Programs?
Debate it here (9) When I went to college, I was fortunate enough to be able to not take a foreign language class in
college because I passed my placement exam for Spanish. But what happens if you didn't pass? I
know many people who haven't passed and are later required to take that foreign language during
college (not all programs require this, but some do). Many people that are studying these languages
are protesting and claiming that it is a waste of time. Many people claim that it is useless. After
all, isn't college supposed to "prepare" you for your future career? What i....
Turkey In The Eu: Yes Or No?
Debate on whether Turkey's entry petition in the EU should be acce (13) Turkey's entry in the EU has been postponed for the time being, and is said to be reconsidered
in a few years time. As it is a matter that I consider of great importance, I would like to know
what the opinion of most people here is on the subject. There are many pros and cons to the issue.
Turkey is a large country of 72 million people and a demographical wonder for its size (with the
media age being 28.1, see http://worldfacts.us/Turkey.htm ). It is an economically developing
country, and can contribute greatly to the European median age as well, provide a good s....
Religion And Terrorism
Debate (14) Starting off, to be quite honest, I'm so sick to death about hearing about terrorist attacks
occuring overseas. For example, a recent one was reported on tv that authorities had arrested 20
muslims. Before some people go on about how this religion is bad, and what they are doing is wrong,
and so forth, pretty much every religion has their type of weirdos and crackheads. In many cases,
religion is not what fuels the fire, its those that are really greedy within the ranks, you got
hitler and his dislike for jews, the czaars in Russia, and so forth. It seems that man....
