Dell Vs Alienware - which is better and why?

which computer is better? the ones made from alienware or dell. i am plannign on buying a new computer but really dun no which one. I want to make my own costomized computer but i cant cause i dun n ojack about computers.lol anyhow some one give me feedback cause i need it like asap. thank and ppl please vote for dell or alienware.

I'd say alienware would be a good choice if you're looking for a powerful pc. But if you're looking for a really powerful computer, then i suggest buying a custom made mac. The macs i've seen can own any pc anyday. But it really comes down to what you're gonna be using the computer for. If you're gonna be using it for games, then i suggest alienware. Everything else go with a mac.

I think, as truefusion said, that alienware has the best compters. However they're really expensive.
I'd checked the best computer, configured with the best hardware, and i must say that i'll never get enough money for that

All in one i suggest Alienware.

If money is not an option, then choose alienware. It's extremely powerful and probably won't come with random softwares. If you're on a budget, then go with Dell. Dell has gotten a lot of positive reviews, and it's reliable. Plus, it comes with tons of random software for you.

In my opinion, alien ware are good computers but they charge you for the name. You can get the same specs for cheaper. I would go with dell over alien ware any day just because they are cheaper and they still have great computers. But if your looking to use this computer mainly for gaming, and you have the money.... Then I would suggest Alienware.

I would have to disagree with you truefusion.... Macs arn't always better, and like you said.... Its mainly about what you are going to use it for. I personally don't like macs cause not all games are for macs and its harder to do programming.

From my experience, Dell is reliable and relatively inexpensive. I've heard Alienware is really good as well. They're really generous with their specs. For gaming, I'd probably go with Alienware since they specialize in that, maybe refurbished if I could find one so it wouldn't be as expensive. You can also upgrade any aspect of the computer.

But for working or just general operation, I'd take my Dell

The difference between a dell and an alienware PC is that alienware has been thoroughly tested and over-priced. Dell on the other side is the most hated company next to Microsoft™. I recommend you to do some looking at www.newegg.com and put togheter your own PC...cheaper and better, and you are sure you will get quality parts AND you will know what's inside your computer!

Building your own PC is not at all cheap if you go for the good stuff. And if you don't know what you're doing, it can be a disaster, even though building your own computer is a relatively simple procedure. However, newegg.com does have some really great deals and I recommend looking through them.

but the problem with alienware besides the price is that the computer lean more toward gaming then anything else, not reeally for designing, and chatting.

go dell its more flexible to use.

I can understand what everyone says about Dell and even though I did experience some extreme customer service issues, they more than made up for it when they realized my experience was a bad. The problem is outsourcing, but thats another topic.

I can testify that the XPS line is awesome and hard to beat, even against alienware when it comes to laptops. If your getting a desktop, go with alienware.

If you guys say one company, like DELL, is hated, back up your statements. For all we know the reason you hate DELL is because they kept you on the phone for 5 more mins or they didnt give your 10% discount

Alienware was bought out by Dell...

With Alienware, you're mostly paying for the name. The designs they have are absolutely crazy and usually top-of-the-line. Each system is moreso tailored towards gaming performance than anything else... but they will do just about anything you want it to do (if it's a gaming rig). Like everyone is saying, they will cost you an arm and a leg. Unless you REALLY want to have a high-performance PC with the Alienware name, I'd stay clear.

Dell is a very dummy-proof choice. Computer enthusiasts will have to agree that they are one of the most convenient when it comes to people who have next to no knowledge of a computer... but things like cheap parts, limited performance caps, and the fact that the BIOS is locked down can piss off a tech-savvy user. They are relatively cheap and great for everyday use... with lag-free gaming out of this realm of use. I hear that the XPS line is nice... albeit a bit pricey.

The best bet, really, is to design and build your own PC, component by component. It's really not that hard and very satisfying to be able to create your own desktop tailored to YOUR wants... not to mention that you have complete control over what's in your PC. There are tons of websites that will help you out... and really, it's not hard.

But if you want a pre-built PC, I would personally suggest HP or Dell. So far, I have no real personal complaints about either... yet.

I would suggest Dell... DirectX 10 is more important, than to.33GHz processor.

there's really no comparison between the two companies unless you're looking at dell's upper end pc's and xps series. Alienware is a very different sort of company. They are producers of very quality and high end pc's with top-quality hardware. Dell is a budget-friendly company that sells relatively cheap pc's. You just can't compare them. A better comparison is between Dell and HP/Compaq. Both sell household computers. Personally, if you have no budget to go on, go Falcon. http://www.falcon-nw.com. If you are on a budget, go with Dell. In the middle, go Dell or HP upper end. The best option is to just build your own pc; it saves money by a lot and also allows you to see what you're getting for your money. But, many people, like as you said you are, do not know how to build a computer. There are many sites online that teach this kind of thing, and these tuts are very good. Try one sometime and you'll be surprised how easy it is to build a pc from scratch.
