I really like HP better because they seem to have good prices for what they offer. Maybe they dont have a computer as powerful as dells computers but they appear to have more quality. I have a friend who bought a dell and his soundcard stopped working right after his warranty expired, so he had to get a pcmcia sound card in order to get sound from his computer, the bad thing was that he couldnt use his laptop speakers anymore. I bought my HP laptop around the same time he did, and mine is still as good as new though it never was because it was refurbished, right now he has another laptop and mine is almost as good as his. I really like the design on the new Hp laptops, the DV series, I would love to buy a Dv9000 with dual hard drives. That would rock.!

Dell seems to be brand chosen for many educational institutions down here, I dont mind dell, although I hadnt really used HP branded PCs and/or laptops to really comment on which is the best. So for now I'll just have to go with Dell if it was out of the 2. Although I dont mind the ASUS laptop i got ATM

well, i am using the dell e1505 right now and i couldnt ask for a better laptop i would go with dell... "Dude... Your Getting a Dell!" - and plus they have a cool slogan..

HP is the lesser of the two poor evils. I personally prefer IBM to any lower end computer manufacturer. All I know is I absolutely dispise dell. Their computers waste electricity with all those wasteful LEDs decorating the computers to make them look like UFOs. Their customer service sucks. In addition their computers are of shoddy quality - I've never had any trouble running Linux until I installed it on a Dell.

now what Dell computers are you referring to? Only the XPS use leds and have you seen a Alienware computer, if you haven't take a look at one and you see Dell isn't about wasting energey. Of course then you have people who building custom computers that got their computers lit up like a Christmas tree so. As for customer support I have never had a problem with them, heck I would have conversations with the tech people as I am trying to figure stuff out or have some minor problems. Now that Dell has linux Pre-Installed on some of their systems I don't think you would have any problems with it, unless you configure it wrong. I been sticking with Dell for a few years now because computers are cheap and very customizable for any user to get it. Just have to know how to work the system, remember you control the computer not the other way around for a few hundred more years  .

I find that Dell makes fabulous desktops for sure and they are reasonably priced. They stand behind their product with a good warranty also. I like the power of the HP Laptops and all the things that come with them. I find their screens are larger, etc.

i would prefer HP. it is a much better and standard company than DELL. HP is a lot cheaper than Dell and will lot of extra features. HP rocks!

When I used to have a Dell Computer, and it was starting to get old, I started to shut down and crash (NOTE: i didnt download anything, it was super fast) and i got angry  and yeah my family threw it away, and went looking for a new computer, When we saw a HP, we bought it , and when it was getting old, it didnt automatically shut down and crash, it was superfast!  We now have a HP Computer, Laptop, Printer, Photo Printer, Camera, lots more Were the HP family LOL I prefer HP

HP all the way. Dells were known as a standard desktop company until they started coming out with their gaming machines and servers. Hp on the other hand is known for professional machines. Hey my laptop is an HP and so is my old desktop. Never really had a problem with either. Hey look I am currently using an HP Machine, go HP.
