For atleast 5 years now i have used Dells. I love them because they are reliable and run smoothly. Earlier in this topic someone mentioned poor fps from them but i depends on what you add to it. For one, right now i am using a Dell Inspirion XPS Gen 1 and it get atleast 30 fps in Doom 3 on Medium settings and keep in mind that this is a laptop. Obviously, if you build the computer yourself, you can customize it to operate at much more efficient and powerful levels but normally, if you are going to do that you need to buy the most expensive and state of the art parts. Thus, they can cost a fortune. Overall, Dells are well made and reliable computers that dont have to break the budget of its owner. Plus, they can easily be updated

I heard that the best laptops out there are Toshibas. (Did I spell that right?) Dells, along with all major computer companies such as Compaq, IBM, etc. all use cheap power supplies and motherboards. The most important part of a computer is the motherboard. And if you have a cheap, low quality power supply, it will degrade the performance of the computer and on some occasions, cause damage to the internal components over time due to inconsistent power. For all computers, it is good to have a name-brand, high quality power supply and motherboard. A surge protector would also regulate a smooth flow of power to the power supply. If I ever get a computer again, I'm going to custom build it with name brand components.

We use mostly dell computers and servers in the office and so far they have worked out pretty good. They are a few IBM and Toshiba laptops as well but both of them have proven to be very difficult to work with and they have constant problems. So I would say that I am very happy with the products that Dell is offering and the support that they provide.

We use Dell workstations here, and I would say that back in the day, Dell was great, now they are alright. As Cif said, you can build a better computer to benchmark stats. Also, for as much as you pay for a Dell, you can save or even break even and come out with a better machine. Another thng to look at is local computer guys that are trying to make a name for themselves. They want to build a computer that is affordable to Dell, but more dependable and better. Also, you get local support as well. So do I like Dell, well, let say they are OK, but they lack in the tech department and their hardware could be a little better.

I have a Dell and it works fine with me! Before I had Packard Bell, but I had so much trouble with it that i just had to buy another computer after a year. I think Packard Bell isn't as good as Dell. I haven't had any problems or 'blu windows' yet!!

I find the Dell computers are good they have a high standart and the components are very good BUT they are tooooo expensiv so i think only people with a lot of money can buy a computer from Dell. I don't want to buy an computer from Dell because the are really expensiv.

The Future Of Computer's Games
(12) Hello, this topic could be in other subforums, but i want to talk about the hardware that is needed
to stay in the line of new games, I know that with a computer we can do more thinks like a console
(ps2, xbox, etc), but some people like me have a computer for only 2 things, 1. Internet 2. Games
So, thinking in the cost of building a game ready computer, I think that at the moment (thinking
that 64bit software is some far) is better to buy a console to play games, like a PS2 or the
expected PS3, and a budget computer to other things, this way is cheaper, and i think....

Dell, Compaq, Hp, Ibm, Emachine Name Brand Computers
Which name brand computers do you think are best? (22) Ok of all the brand name computer companies out there which one do you think is the best. I know
myself that building your own custom system is the most economic and likely the best way to buy a
computer, but if you were offered the choice of all the top brand names which one would you choose
and what makes it better than all the others. I have owned Dell, Compaq, IBM and an EMachine. In my
opinion the Dell was the best. The Dell was inexpensive to buy and was a quite stable system. The
Dell also had very little upgadability though, but man did it look sweet! The Compaq....
Best Cpu
Computers (16) What do you think the best cpu is? According to what i have tried and heard AMD is way more powerful
than pentium. I heard that AMD gives you its full power for maximum efficiency while pentium gives
you about 80%-89% full power. This is why for all of you that have AMDs you better have a huge fan
for it or it will over heat. Has any one else found something odd about any cpu chips?....
