| | Well most of you may not know my age but I am old enought to call my self a parent.
My vent is regarding issues with other parents and sports.
My son is playing little league baseball, T-ball division, yes this is the age group that runs to the pitcher and sometimes after the ball while standing on base and even after hitting the ball.
This is the age division where it should all be about fun. As a matter of fact we do not even keep track of a score.
But what I dislike is the fact that parents in this division are so aggressive. they are constatntly yelling and get mad when kids dont get teh out or hit the ball.
I have to say that im just like the next person , I like to win too, but c'mon these are some little kids that are just learning the game.
I just feel sorry for some of these kids, personally I wasn't treated this way and I dont expect to treat my son this way.
So if you are one of the older members out there or if you are not and have experienced this or something similar post it up. |

Well, don't get me started on Sports parents... I have been a Referee since I was thirteen years old... I have a few stories, but the one I would like to share with you is a actually a bit funny... Yes, you are correct. Sports should be about the kids having fun. I mean, nobody shows up to lose, but the fun aspect of Kid's Sport is often spoilt by the parents, certainly. Anyway, I was refereeing a game and a kid I gave a 2 minute penalty to, well he swore at me after I issued the penalty. That isn't good, so I gave him another Unsportsman-like penalty, and he swore once more, so I ejected him from the game. Not a big deal, he was pretty good about leaving the playing field and going to the dressing room... Game ends. I leave the playing surface into the 'tunnel' toward the change room when I hear a voice yell, "hey, Mr Ref..." to which I turned around to see this, well, *large* woman walking down the tunnel toward me... "Was it you that threw my son out?"... "yes", I replied... "what did he do?" she asked ... "He swore at me... twice..." "Good", she said... "Do it again next time..." and she turned and walked away....

QUOTE "Good", she said... "Do it again next time..." and she turned and walked away.... Now that is truly amazing! I thought sure you were going to tell us you got smacked in the head by a mean old fat lady...... It is nice to know that some parents realize their rug rats aren't little angels. I thought one day I was going to have a knock down drag out with some stupid woman over her bratty little kid. I had a low display pen at the swap meet, and this little girl reached over and pick up one of my pups by the neck and was choking it. I firmly told her to put that puppy down, didn't really yell at her but did say it quite firmly. Brat droped the pup and stood there looking at me like I was an ogre, which of course I didn't care, then she tottled off and caught up with her mother who was by then a few booths away. Then the little brat started bawling, so the mother came back and gave me a cussing for yelling at her little darling. I proceded to tell her if she'd spend as much time teaching her damn brat how to properly handle a pup as she spent cussing me I wouldn't have to yell at the stupid kid. So, believe me, parental stupidity is not limited to sporting events!

Hey, just dropped by to say I totally agree with you, garbage, I guess some parents are just too obsessed with having their kids be sports stars or whatever... which probably won't happen anyway and... yeah, it's about fun. And awesome story, jlhaslip.

that is pretty funny, about the woman and her kid. But Over all man that sucks especially for you as a ref. I mean that woman could have been the kids father and could have tried something stupid. and for one im not going to sit there and let parent even try to approach me after a game. hell if i think they come to close i might have to just claim self defense. but also in Texas I know they have strict laws against people when it comes to assault against a ref or some sore of volunteer and sports. There have been way too many situations where people jump over fences and beat up the ref or umpires, also a few years back a highschool coach was even shot by a parent at a game. C'mon, how crazy is that. And all this over a kids game. Im not sure how the laws are inother states or countries but it should not be easy time for sure.

Some people get totally crazy over sports I guess, like, not the players, but the fans, like sometimes people like go after and try to assault the refs (I saw this a while ago), but anything like that going on in a little league game is just ridiculous. Give me a break.

Ya I was a ref for soccer when I was about 15 this one kid tackled another player and dislocated his shoulder so I ejected him from the game and called an ambulance for the kid apparently it was their "best" player so all the parents and the coach started screaming at me so when I told them to be quiet or I would have to eject all of they screamed some more and I asked them to leave. -reply by jack

I Hate Parents.

Parents. What the hell is their problem? If it's not barking at the children, it's arguing
at each other. I mean, come on.. I don't choose sides of either of my parents. Is that the big
problem? I mean, I am literally going nuts. I'm not exagerating either, I can be found (after
they fight) crying. Yea, I cry. Deal with it. /dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle'

they've been 'hurt'. I mean, damn, I can never find it in myself ot be mad at ...
Anti-computer Parents
- And why they are bad (11)
Most parents don't like their children on the computer or TV a lot. From my personal experience
this was a bad thing. From spending a lot of time on the computer, I have become much more
intelligent. I have learned very good problem solving techniques when something is wrong with my
computer or website. I use these same techniques I learned from being on the computer and apply them
to real-life situations. It is also an excellent resource for ANYTHING. If your child is ambitious
enough, he can learn anything he needs for doing anything. I think I have learned more fr...

i swear that i'm gonna duct tape my mother's mouth is she doesn't start listening to
what i say. She always gives me crap for not listening to her, but really its the other way around.
I get into trouble from her aLL The time because she never actually listens to EXACTLY what i say.
she'll pretend she's listening and only catch a FEW of the details like... if i said i was
going to wear a red and pink dress with black butterflies on it she would only catch that i was
going to wear a dress. her listening to me saying what i'm gonna wear isn't re...

I'll spend 2 hours on a 40 point homework assignment, and magiclly the book disappears. I

could have tried and stop my bad habits and train my forgetful mind, but right now is to late.

so for my moms birthday, which is a month away, my parents are going to las vegas. the last time
they went there was when we were at my aunts in california. my cousins were 9 and they went along
with my 2 aunts and uncle and parents. i had to stay home with my aunts crazy husband. and they
always told me the next time they were going, id go too. SO now my parents say that i cant go, which
really pissed me off, but it didnt piss me off as much as their 2 excuses of why i cant go. they
said that im "too young", im 13, and i dont see how im too young if my cousins went when...
People Who Don't Punish Their Children
- are bad parents (30)
Okay, so before I go into why I think parents who don't punish their children are bad, let me
give you a little information before hand. A couple of weeks ago, my dad took me and my little
sister to hurricane harbor (A water park.) We were going to go to six flags, but the day we secided
to go was a 100+ day. So we decided to go to a water park instead. well, over all it was a fun
experience, but one thing just annoyed the living crap out of me. My little sister, who might i
add gets everything she wants, wanted to go on the buba tub, which might i add is a compl...

contacted my step father. Well I have no parents anymore. I have no one. Why wo...
Partiality By Parents (between Son And Daughter)
- pampering and partiality by mother / father (10)
Hey, This is actually a topic that I wanted to get out of my system from a long time....It's
about mothers and their fascinations to worship their sons and of pampering and partiality. I came
from a family where I was literally kept on the side while my brother was the god....I mean then he
got spoiled and behaved badly but still was treated like a king, Now his wife is suffering because
of his bratty nature. The thing that bugs me is that many times mothers pamper their sons like gods
and then get hurt and jealous when the boy gets a girl friend.. Imagine your a ...

they've given away my two dogs!!! It was so messed up I thought she was joking, but
slowly came to the realization that she wasn't. My Australian red heeler, Lady, and my chocolate

hadn't. I feel like killing my parents... this is so messed up...

where he's going to teach. My girlfriend's older sister and uncle both live with the mom,

Kids And Parents
- (5)
So I heard this fourteen year old girl complaining the other day about how her mother wouldn't
let her stay out all night on prom night because her boyfriend is nineteen. She called her mother a
bich. Uh, hello? You're fourteen! I used to think my parents were being overprotective
idiots, but now I understand why. The world is a harsh place out there and has no room for teenagers
who think they know everything. Your parents have lived; I am pretty sure they know a thing or two
about this thing called life. Sure, sometimes they might be a wee bit ridiculous...
My Parents That Won't Get Broadband

I've been asking for DSL or cable internet for over 3 years. My parents seem to think its not
worth the 35 dollars to upgrade. We are paying 15 dollars now for the Netzero 3G(which doesn't
work with linux). My parents also get extremely mad that I take up so much time on the phone, but
they won't do anything about it. It just doesn't mane any sense to me why that they
won't spend 20 more dollars to get broadband....

these days just seem so uncompassionate - uncompassionate to the point of being selfish. I
understand that it's not any else's business what someone is doing in their private life and
what not. I have no problem with this. I'm just getting annoyed with people these days just
excepting whatever the hell these people do in their private lives, no matter how grave some t...
