Both in terms of their ablilty to move smoothly and walk, and also their ability to accurately imitate human movements and dance. And I'm sure that since there are only 4 in the world that they were not easy to make. Yes, they are the first robot that is able to stand on one leg. But who says that there are only 4 in the world? Just because only four were dancing at the press conference doesn't mean that they are all that exist. If Japan plans to sell these things as toys, they have got to be cheap enough that they can afford to make more than just two.

Yeah, except they are not intelligent, they don't have weapons (and can't hold any), and have no reason to take over the world. There will be enough people who would see robots, assuming they wanted to take over, as equals and treat them as so that not all robots would rebel, feeling they were being enslaved. Besides, all it takes is an EMP bomb to get rid of them.

I thought that the MTV article said that they are the only 4 of their kind. As I read it again it doesn't say expressly that they are the only 4, it just says QUOTE worlds only dream robots.

Well it looks like the Qrio robots just got the Axe from Sony already. So now the four in the Beck video will be the only ones. Slashdothas some more info about it, but apparently Sony has been cost cutting and cancelled the Qrio, and Aibo (Sony's robot dog). It's too bad would have been cool to see how they turned out as a toy.

The original article can be found here. I'm really not surprised that it's being cut. Although Aibo and Qrio look cool, they are very expensive (over a thousand dollars for Aibo, and I'm sure Qrio would be around 3-5 thousand at least), so not very many people can, or care to, own one. even that such a steep price, Sony was probably selling at a loss already (as is the common practice of Japanese businesses), and they probably realized that they would never own a large enough market to make the loss worthwhile.

By these days, it's not only the movement. Also the languaje skills and sensors are very advanced. Don't you think? By seeing those things now I'm sure it's a matter of time for us to see robots like those in the movies, and that opens all kind of possibilities. By now, it's an expensive, yet amazing toy or mate I'd like one!

Modifying The Robosapien
Crazy things people do with their robots (4) I think robots are cool. I bought my son a robosapien, he's cool and their are people out ther
modifying them with fm audio receivers and video transmitters and hand held computers attached to
their circuit boards for increased computing power, I even saw one with a mini-blowtorch attached to
his back and it made a flamethrower from his left hand through a tube fed through his elbow into
his hand. Pretty wild. You can see what I mean here. http://home.planet.nl/~pruim006/ I also
need to add that there is another site about modifying the robosapien from one of, ....
From Passive Applications To Sentient Machines
closer to self-sustained robots (3) There's a very interesting article that says that scientists have approached to programm robots
with routines that are self-aware and can interact in complex and arbitrary environments using
wireless technologies to cooperate with each others(as machines) and with other wireless networks.

New Generation Of Robots
Qrio (13) I saw this on the news the other day and it just shoked me to see a robot so human like. Again Sony
shockes the world with new technology. This robot could walk, run, jump, kick a ball, walk up
stairs, dance, and even talk and ask questions. I can't belive this. Here is a link url to a
website where you can see the robot!!

Doctor's Becoming Robots
(10) I forget what they call the robots, but they have a computer screen, camera and infra-red
sensor's. The doctor sits in his office 30 miles away and can speak to his patients through this
robot and they can speak back. Just by sitting in that same seat he can control where the robot goes
and review patient history and other important documents. By keeping this method of doctory around i
think that the amount of doctors could become minimised because one doctor could serve to a whole
heap of patients through this new technology. though you would still need doctors that....

Sony's Patent On Apparent "matrix-like Technology"
(14) Sony patents 'real life Matrix' Obviously the news report has been hyped up to a large
extent, but this patenting is ridiculous. QUOTE The patent - based only on a theory, not on
any invention... I mean, how the hell can you patent a theory...? Does that mean I could go
off and make a patent on something currently in development and yet not fully developed and have
exclusive rights to the technology or what? And does that mean they have exclusive rights to that
technology? (I think so, but then, I'm not an expert in IP law) Anyway, this is ....
