Cryonics: Medical Technology Of Cryopreserving Humans And Animals - Preserving Humans and Animals for future revival

Cryogenics are the future, with the power to freeze ourselves we can sleep and not age one bit, we can also wake up thousands of years into the future, we won't have to listen to loud noises and stuff and we can dream for as long we like. Think about it, the power to sleep for as long as you like. You have an incurable virus so freeze yourself and wait for scientists to find a cure. you're living on a cargo ship and it takes 10 years to get to Earth but you don't want to be old and wrinkly by the time you get there so freeze yourself Be an ice sculpture for a while, you won't have to change your bedsheets ever again. Stuck in suspended animation. All of you may think cryogenics only exist in Sci-Fi movies like Alien.
Notice from opaque, adminstrator:
Topic Title and Description changed. Made it more meaningful and relevant to the post.
Yes, actually. Cryonics may seem like a great "heal-all" salve for the society. After all, anyone with cancer or AIDS could simply sleep well into the future and wake up at a time when their illness is perfectly curable. However, I think the drawbacks are equal to, if not far greater than, the purported advantages of cryonic systems.
Imagine waking up to a world you do not understand. Actually, we live everyday with people who can hardly adapt to changes in a normal pace. We see traditionalists regarding computers with utter suspicion or conservatives who simply cannot understand that some people just can't be heterosexual. Suppose we wake up in a future with morals, values, cultures or ethics entirely different from our own? Imagine sleeping in a democratic era and waking up hundreds of years later under the militaristic rule of a singular fuhrer? Far be it from me to invoke Godwin's law but imagine waking up to a world where you are not allowed to speak your mind, where the welfares of the state come before the rights of its individual citizens and where it is perfectly normal to exterminate the remaining Jewish and homosexual population? Would you care to live in such a world?
Also, to undergo cryonic treatment is to place your trust in other people. Now, these may very well be professionals who know what they're doing but these are also humans who are not that infallible. Think about it, would anyone motivated by greed really care about the welfare of a body from 70 or so years ago? Would you have enough money to pay the future generations indefinitely, just so someone would check ever and anon that your personal freezer has the right temperature?
It would also mean that anyone who believes in the merits of cryonics also believes in a future discovery of a cure. What if cancer really is incurable? Or AIDS mutated into a much more contagious form? Or the world was besieged by a global cataclysm and the scientists of the future prioritized researching more efficient ways to combat more severe illnesses brought about by the radiation in the wake of a nuclear war instead of researching a cure for your, say, breast cancer? In fact, what's to assure you that the people of the future won't just dispose your body and claim, "It was really his/her time; it was too late when he/she undertook the cryonic treatment."
Actually, who would want to wake up in the future and be regarded as the village "noob"?
Cryogenics The branches of physics and engineering that involve the study of very low temperatures, how to produce them, and how materials behave at those temperatures.
Cryobiology The branch of biology involving the study of the effects of low temperatures on organisms (most often for the purpose of achieving [cryopreservation].
Cryonics The emerging medical technology of cryopreserving humans and animals with the intention of future revival. Researchers in the field seek to apply the results of many sciences, including cryobiology, cryogenics, rheology, emergency medicine, etc.
Cryoelectronics The field of research regarding superconductivity at low temperatures.
Cryotronics The practical application of cryoelectronics.
i think cryonics is a great idea but i think will be difficult. freezing a living thing and "defrosting" always leads to death. they are relying in future advancement in science that will solve the problem.
but relying in the future is often disastrous. their method in cryo today, make you sleep and freeze you. Which in the future necessary steps must first be done before they make you sleep and freeze you will make todays freezed humans destroyed/killed forever. ( yes some people today have been cryoed before they died)
i think the scientist should first understand how to make us hibernate, that's an easier task because your just adding genes than freezing your whole body with uncertainty about the future
I think this whole thing is a terrible idea. I definitely wouldn't do this because the risk is greater than the reward. I mean, what if they can't wake you up? What if you somehow die in your sleep? What if your brain no longer functions normally? And if that happened, would the cancer or aids cure really be beneficial to you? That and accompanied with the stuff in Salamangkero's post, is any of it worth it? Let's say everything worked out perfectly, on your end, are you ready for that kind of a culture shock? It would be Back to the Future or the second Austin Powers movie only crazier. I mean, c'mon. What's the point of ending up in that era of time if there's no flying cars?
QUOTE THIS MAY SOUND incredible but the way technology is growing this will shortly be possible.
Research by Sammy Phang, Queensland University of Technology’s Faculty of Built Environment and
Engineering scholar, helps overcome one of the final obstacles to application of iris scanning
technology to unlock our homes, access bank accounts and log on to our computers. Of all the
biometric technologies used for human authentication today, iris recognition is thought to be the
most accurate. Iris is an externally visible coloured ring around the pupil of every human eye....
What do you think of wireless. It's secure? , safey ? , or not !! When using wireless
every day every where. The security issues still the bigger problems that many users faced today.
What do think if a system could detected that some intruders were entered your network like the
wired one. Is it good enough ? Now it's may be the time !! Take a look of this article

QUOTE A 13 year old Vietnamese boy was arrested yesterday for allegedly strangling an 81 year
old woman to death. According to the local police, Dinh The Dan "confessed that he needed money to
play online games and decided to kill and rob the woman". The woman, Mai Thi Mau lost her life for
100,000 dong (around Rs. 244). After strangling her with a rope, Dan buried her in a pile of sand in
front of his house. The saddest part is that is that he won’t even go to prison!
Here’s what a local policeman had to say – "He is too young to be put in pr....
The marvels of technology surprise me to this day. Like my new MP3 player for example. It's a 1
gig, and it's smaller than my index finger. Or my newest phone, is like half the size of my old
one, with a camera, more features, and four times as much space for downloads. iPods are mildly
annoying in their marvel. They're tiny, but hold so many songs. Like the iPod nano, which holds
1, 2, 4 or 8 gigs depending on the generation. The marvels of technology amaze me. It makes me feel
old not just to remember cassette tapes, but to own a cassette player and cassett....
Nikola Tesla was one extraordinary man. The city of Buffalo was once his play ground for his ideas.
But due to many undocumented feuds with Edison (yes the very one) Tesla's contribution to
electricity world went less than well notice... that is until now. Tesla worked on transmitting
mass volts across the distance without the aid of clumsy wires. Let's face it, the power poles
and loosely hung black wires across your block are just an eye sore. But Tesla's methods were
quickly overshadowed by Edison's quick and easy solution--run wire grids to provide e....
Hi, I'm looking for advice. I'm looking to get a new laptop. It will replace my current
desktop. Bascially it will primarily be used around the house, and occasionally for travel about
7-10 times a year (including at airports, on planes, etc). I got my last laptop back in 1999 so its
been a while. I'm looking at: Dell XPS M1710 (GeForce Go 7950 GTX) or Alienware Aurora
mALX I have looked at cnet and both of the vendors sites, but i'm still not sure. Does
anyone have any suggustions? the cnet review hinted that the mALX may loose position wi....
Computers and their Future in Our Future What kind of role do you think computers will play in the
future of the world? I know that computers are already implemented in allot of today’s technologies
like our cars, airplanes, school databases and more. But what else do you think computers will be
involved in? I think that in the future, computers will be implemented allot more into the daily
lives of everybody. I mean this because the information highway is growing in great numbers! And
since the information super highway is growing, I think that the use of the de....
Here it is, the new BLU-RAY disc, the next generation of optical media that should replace DVD's
on the market. Some movies are already being sold at DVD and BLU-RAY format, although prices here
in Europe still are around 300€ to 500€ for a table BLUE-RAY reader, more or less the same a DVD
player costed when it arrived at the market. Some laptops are coming with BLUE-RAY too although they
cost around the same amount. I would like to hear your opinion about this new technology and for
those who don't know it yet here I post a link for your information: BLU-R....

Hai Guys have you ever heared of Future Splash Animator ? Here is a clue, it is most commonly
used software. Everyone with a computer might've come accross this or will have this. Yes it is

Maybe anyone not understand the "Cloning Technology". I found this full article at
http://allfreeessays.com/student/Cloning_Technology.html for all: QUOTE Cloning can be a very
sensitive subject. It seems that it?s a battle between science and ethics. Does the ladder outweigh
the former or vice versa? Maybe a few definitions will shed some light on the subject. ?Cloning is
to create a genetic duplicate of an individual organism through asexual reproduction, as by
stimulating a single cell? (Webster?s 211). ?Parthenogenesis is reproduction of organisms without

well, i sure that you recently heard about LCD and Plasma monitors, but .... do you know whats the
diference between them, well, its HUGE and you must be very careful if you are going to buy one of
these: QUOTE 1- Life span, the number of viewing hours a monitor provides before dimming to
half brightness, is one of the biggest advantages LCD has over plasma. Though the numbers vary among
the different brands, plasma displays generally offer around 20,000 hours, while LCD sets last for
up to 50,000 hours. Point for LCD QUOTE 2- One of plasma technology'....
This is not about computer but it is still electronic. Has anyone have seen the Anti-Crash
Technology in RC planes yet? It uses sensors to "sense" the ground-and-sky orientation of the plane
so newbies crash less often. I just have my plane today it ACT works awesome. It's like an
autopilot system preventing me from crash and burn!....
I have recently downloaded a VoIP free service (Voice over Internet Protocol, computer-to-computer
chatting) called GloPhone ( GloPhone , and find that it ROCKS! GloPhone gives you a free
telephone number from the USA and allows you to call any other person using GloPhone by typing in
their telephone number. Also, for a low cost, you can purchase a plan that allows your computer to
send a call to any actual telephone in the USA or Canada. However, GloPhone is not the only VoIP

Me again:)Searching the web for my science news thirst i've stumbled over some words about
refocusing of blurred photos, method and technology developed at Stanford University. The primordial
use would be in sports where each photograph ca't be re-photographed or surveillance systems.Of
course even an non-profesional photographer could take advantage of this technology:).It's

http://www.physorg.com/news7746.html A chip inserted into a patient's brain can allow him or
her to control a robotic arm just by thinking. This has enormous implications, seeing as the first
test patient is a paralytic, but he has been able to draw and use a computer with this arm. It works
by reading the activity of neurons then sending the data to a computer. Some scientists believe that
this will lead to an era where all we will have to do is think to accomplish most tasks-including
communication. I for one think that this will just make the obesity problem in....
Hey guys have you heard about OLED? Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology An OLED is
an electronic device made by placing a series of organic thin films between two conductors. When
electrical current is applied, a bright light is emitted. This process is called
electrophosphorescence. Even with the layered system, these systems are very thin, usually less than
500 nm (0.5 thousandths of a millimeter). When used to produce displays, OLED technology
produces self-luminous displays that do not require backlighting. These properties result in thin,
very ....
As we know cars have evolved hugely since the beginning of the time, and we are seeing bigger and
bigger debates about the enviroment factors and there look and feel. Here are a few ways in which

ultimately less expensive — by building materials one atom at a time. Nanotechnology, which

I have read in the news paper, a local news here in the philippines that during the convention at
singapore, Bill Gates says "New technology soon to be implanted in the human body, but I will not
try this experimentation in myself.." Is it possible the somebody is working to implant computer in
the human body? Wow,,, very interesting, but do you think this will help us? if the computer is
inside our body, what does the computer do? maybe instead of using our mind the computer will think
for you... ha ha ha... that will makes us a robot... If this will happen, if bill g....
Another article I did to compare IPV4 and IPV6. Ipv4 vs. Ipv6 Ipv4 is the fourth version of
Internet protocol, but the first one to be widely deployed. It uses a 32 bit addressing and allows
for 4,294,967,296 unique addresses. Ipv4 has four different class types, the class types are A, B,
C, and D. An example of Ipv4 is 207. 142. 131. 235. The ipv4 uses a subnet mask because of the large
numbers of computers used today. The subnet mask helps reduce the number of unique IP given to
companies, corporations and so on. An example of a subnet mask is a company. A arch....
I really despise high school students that can learn real computer skills in their school; part
because my school's computer program is crap. Anybody can use the computer better than the
computer teacher, and most of us don't even get a computer class. The result? Half of my
classmates doesn't know how to use Excel or Powerpoint. Most of them hardly know what Photoshop
is. Technology is progressing at a really high rate, and it is becoming a big part of our lives.
You're basically disabled if you can't use a computer. So why doesn't high school ....
Sony patents 'real life Matrix' Obviously the news report has been hyped up to a large
extent, but this patenting is ridiculous. QUOTE The patent - based only on a theory, not on
any invention... I mean, how the hell can you patent a theory...? Does that mean I could go
off and make a patent on something currently in development and yet not fully developed and have
exclusive rights to the technology or what? And does that mean they have exclusive rights to that
technology? (I think so, but then, I'm not an expert in IP law) Anyway, this is ....

QUOTE The technology behind Google's great results As a Google user, you're familiar

it is my perception on future OS, just some random thoughts Internet already is a indispensible part
of computer and future OS will be focus on better using and serving Internet. nowadays most PC are
clients of the whole network, in the future, one important feature of OS will be making every PC a
client as well as server. for example, by default /my documents will be home directory of servers

make anything public by simply right-click the item. you can also encrpyt you publ....
