| | ok i will go out on a limb here and say
yes they blow big donkey *BLEEP*, did get me wrong about seeing some naked chicks it on porn sites yeah its sick and perted and need to get laid bad blah blah blah but those sites are the worse if you know what i mean.
with such advance in web design why would most .coms still have pop ups besides spam and setting your computer for a big overload of slowing down?
back in the hay days of my designing career i used like 1 pop up and that was basically it and that was for just updates to the page but you can easily put your info in the same page.
thats my opinion and im sticking with it |

CODE <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- F1 = window.open("PageToShow.html","SecondWindow","width=310,height=400,left=0,top=0"); self.focus(); //--> </script> What are the popups for? I clsoe them, or I don't allow to open them. When i use lynx, what would happened then?

This popup opens up on an F key, I've never seen that before. I believe I'll incoporate that into my website for a menu. Curious though, would a normal ad blocker disable that?

Like it was earlier said, popups have their uses, i mean there's alot of small things you could add to your site that people with dial-up (not necessarily me) wouldn't want to load a full page.

I hate pop-ups they JAR THE HELL OUTTA ME.... Once I went on this website and they had pop-up of ad's non stop in the end I had forty and my computer just shut down and my website and some things I made on my computer were lost...I literally went mad. I started to bite the keyboard and kick my machine. I spent like 6 hours on one piece... Pop ups are a NO NO unless they are pink then thats totally fine by me

I hate pop-ups. I don't care if you have to push a key or what, they have no purpose to me. Most people have pop-up blockers, so why would anyone even bother to make one for their site??? That's a waste of time in my opinion. They are annoying and pointless, so don't bother. Okay, maybe some have their uses, but most are annoying.

Mozilla blocks most of my popups, but as you guys said, they often do more harm than good. I can recall countless times where as my page just loaded, I clicked on a link or something, and lo! A popup gets in my way so I go to that site instead. And then a whole barrage of popups comes at me. It's just a hassle. I've stayed away from popups for a while, but if you have legitimate uses, they're not all so bad.

Tips on creating a good website!
(8) 1) Navigation: Keep it simple (KISS), and make sure it's consistent from page to page. No matter
where you place your menu bar -- either at the top or down the side -- always include a small text
menu at the bottom of every page. If you're one of those people easily impressed with Flash,
don't design your navigation with it. There are still some people who don't have or want the
plug-in, so they won't be able to navigate your site. Besides, search engine spiders can't
read it, so won't be able to spider the individual pages of your site if the....
