I Consider Opera As Best Browser - Browser wars are heating up

I personally am not a great fan of Opera, I really dislike the layout especially that annoying thing that pops out of the address bar with search and bookmarks and stuff like that in, ok so it is far superior to IE, I still am a firefox man myself. But you know thats whats so great about the whole 'Browser Wars' thing... choice. Also I personally think that a browser running 'Gecko 1.9a1', especially (or only, im not to sure if there are others) Firefox 1.6a1 (Deer Park Alpha 2) which can be downloaded here (this is not an official release, its a dev build so download at your own risk, its been fine for me by the way) is faster than the Opera render engine, which I also consider to be irratic, I got a page to display perfectly in IE and Firefox but Opera screwed it up, (it was valid xhtml 1.1, so it wasnt my fault). Its nice to see some of the Opera fans promoting their browser, what with all the Firefox hype (and yes I know I use firefox, but really theres about 17 million topics about it). I know you probably get alot of trouble from Firefox users, so to hopefully chage your mind abit, I (as a Firefox user) would like to congratulate you for not using IE (which is the main point).

UPDATE: Disregard everything read here (apart from the not using IE bit) I am now firmly an Opera fan, see here for reasons:

heres what i like in order

1.opera
2.mozilla
3.ie

opera loads everything up fast but eats alot of memory and i gotta pay like 20 bucks for it in the past.

mozilla is great and acts like ie but is not ie (get it?)

ie is compatibale with everying, but its unsecure and has tons of adware spyware, and popups.

I too use Avant Browser. I have been using it for quite some time and have found that it is the most adaptable of the popular browsers. I have used Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera and have found many features in each that I like. It seems the many of these good features are available in Avant Browser.

Like Opaque said, Avant Browser has the great quality of Internet Explorer, but the speed of Firefox. It is fully customizeable with skins and adjustable button position. It has tabbed browsing that many people wished was available in Internet Explorer. It has quite a good Ad-Blocker that many of you mentioned was missing in Opera. Finally, it has many options available to you, similar to the Firefox plugins, however, you don't have to download an innumerable amount of plug-ins. They come with Avant Browser and simply need to be activated or deactivated. I encourage all of you to at least give Avant Browser a try. It's free and quite easy to use.

Check out their site:

My opinion, Try AVANT BROWSER. One of the best Browsers that I have found. Its the best choice for Web Designers who want to have the quality of IE and speed of Firefox.

I'm sorry, did you just use IE & quality in the same sentence? huh.gif What quality would that be then? And when you say it's the best choice for web designers, I'm afraid you're wrong. Avant is built on the IE engine. IE doesn't support the W3C web standards properly, so in no way can it be deemed the best web browser for web designers. Firefox, on the other hand, is a standards-compliant browser, so web designers should use FF as their base browser and then modify and work around to get things right in other browsers. Most of the time your work arounds will be for IE.
As for Opera, I use it for reading my POP and web mail and I like it for that aspect (also like it's password manager too), but I use Firefox as my main browser for the reason stated above, but also because of its more advanced extensibility over Opera.

Here's what I like, in order from most to least:

1. Opera.
...
4. FireFox.
5. Konquerer.
6. Lynx.
...
9,984,414,881,992,363: Internet Explorer.

That said, I do intend to check the first Internet Explorer 7.0 stable release out - maybe it will change the opinions of many Windows users (although the fact that it is still a part of the Microsoft monopolization automatically gives it a lot of negative cred).

Ugh, I'm quite sick of all the FireFox hype. I do agree that it's a good browser, but the fact that it's been treated as more important than a cure for cancer irritates me. I think it's safe to say there are about 17 million topics about it just on Trap17, let alone the entire web ('Results 1 - 100 of about 109,000,000 English pages for "firefox". (0.63 seconds)'). And I don't like the attitude a lot of (primarily young) FireFox users seem to adopt - if you don't use FireFox, then 'omg!!!1 u r lame rofl!!!'.

IE7 is still not going to be a fully standards-compliant browser - it's gone some way to correcting errors in IE6, but not all the way.
As for Firefox, I can't speak for why everyone else extols its virtues, but as I wrote above, the reason it is held in such high regard with standards-conscious web designers is because it adheres to those standards so closely. That and the fact that you can install a range of extensions to aid in web design/development.

I just want to say that the "speed of firefox" is the same as the "speed of Internet Explorer". The only difference is that firefox shows the site when the HTML is still loading, but Internet Explorer loads the whole page BEFORE displaying it. But if you try to load a normal page on Firefox AND Internet Explorer, the time the page loads will be the same.

As I mentioned on the first page, Opera is fully customizable, and everything you are mentioning in above can be easily changed.

I thinkt he best two free things on the internet are web browsers Firefox and Opera. Opera
currently has released Opera 8.5 free with no ads. It has tabbed browsing and is very fast. It also

My favorite browser is Netscape 7.2. This Mozilla-based browser puts AIM and ICQ, email, newsgroups,

list is always a click away (just hit F9 or click the sidebar button). It works with 95% of all Web
sites I visited (otherwise I take a quick trip back to Micro$oft'$ dominating IE). The
new version (8.0) trims down off email and Web authoring components, and adds little news buttons on
