My computer teacher is a smart guy. He went to Binghamton University (in NY State, part of the State University), and is now getting a Master's degree at Queens College. He can also run a computer class (he does sound dorky in some of my classmates' opinions) that I don't learn anything in because I know almost everything he taught so far. But lately he's been bugging me. Ever hear of Foxtrot puzzles? If not, Google it, and come back when you know what it is. What I am saying is that he is making up do one. He gave us a bitmap of one, and expects us to do it using the Windows Calculator and a list of 10,000 prime numbers. Messing with the Calculator isn't really easy on a laptop, making it take even longer. Every computer class I waste 20+ minutes working on this one puzzle. I really want to play BeJeweled 2 Deluxe during this time (BTW, I am on level 36 I think), which I find to be much better for the brain than Foxtrot. The moral of the story: Foxtrot is a waste of time, and my computer teacher feels that classrooms are a dictatorship  . Co not ever attempt a Foxtrot puzzle unless you have a real calculator handy, and even then, get it over with ASAP.

Well, it happens with many of us at school. Sometimes you have to accept whatever they order you to do . Right or wrong you have to cope up with the problem. One simple advice to you. ?Try ignoring him and enjoy your school. these kind of situations may make school seem like a hell.I experienced similar situation during my school days. But the best thing you've gotta do is ,ignore that particular staff and get along with your work. Just dont think about him. The more you think about him the more irritated you are prone to become. And more importantly,you have to live with it whether you like it or not.

First of all, arent you in the class to learn? I could understand if you were mad that you werent getting to learn new concepts in your computer class because you have to do foxtrot problems but instead you are mad you dont get to play a game? Seriously, you need to grow up then. I was in computer classes in high school very similar to yours just 3 -6 years ago (i took 3 years of them in high school) and i did my share of gaming in the class but it was only when i had completed the current project and other people were still working on it. Plus, if someone needed help i would not continue my game but go help them instead. You are in school to learn and not to play and school isnt always fun but if you are interested in going to college for Computer Science like i am then engrave all those concepts you are learning in high school cause it will make your life mush easier in college. I was basically reviewing all my high school concepts in computer science my whole freshman year which made the transition easier since i didnt really have much work for 1 of my 5 classes then.

Computer classes at my school are deadly... the teacher is a total microsoft freak, so he does not really know much else - at least as far as I know - and the course summary was that we were going to learn to use real useful programs such as word, powerpoint and exel... the crappiest programs I can think of... almost... I bet I know more about that guy in webdesign, too... They do not even have PHP on the server! That place bought msserver, bought it. It is really stupid what people nowadays will do. People seriously need to get over their "you get what you pay for notions"... That just does not work in software anymore... anyways, it seems a lot of people here hate their tech admin at school... are they just naturally obnoctious or what?

Your computer teacher honestly sounds annoying in my own opinion. I had a teacher like him a while back. The best thing to do I can tell from experience is just to grin and bare it since they're the ones handing out the grades and try not too have alot of teachers who don't like you.

Just gets so annoying when you see them messing up in stupid programs... That *** couldnt get Reader to close full screen (which he did not even know existed in Reader)... And "open the internet" by clicking the IE icon? It's like please, I know you give me my grade, mister, but do you actually get paid for doing this? What would you do without your nastly little GUI server tool? Are you an intelligent being? I sometimes just have to laugh... Me and one other person actually know how to get around without a GUI - and the ones who know that that means - in both linux and win, and this guy thinks he is teaching us? Get real...

I find you guy's view on your computer science teachers to be somewhat similar - they teach everyone as if they are idiots, even those whose aren't, and don't provide adequete information to those who need it. That is almost exactly the the case by me. My real complaint about this guy is that he won't let me play a game until I finish an exra-credit project. If you saw my report card, you would agree with me that I don't need extra credit in computers (my grades are between 90 and 100). I really like BeJeweled and really hate Foxtrot. Some good news: I might be able to go without finishing the project, because I spoke to my principal, and he said I should meet with him and the computer teacher in his office the next time we have computers (which, if all goes well, will be next Wednesday), and we will work out something.

Computer teachers are generaly like that... There are actualy 3 categories of computer science teachers, and they could be grouped like this: - "Living in clouds": This category probably covers about 45% of the computer teachers... They think they know everything, no matter that they haven't updated their knowledge in years, and they are falling behind.. I actually had such a teacher, and just because I knew more than her, she kept harrasing me, and kept giving me al kinds of impossible tasks to do (well, not impossible, but very very EXTREMELY hard), and she kept waiting for me to make a slight mistake, just to give me a failing grade... This is probably the worst kind of teacher, and everyone hates them, as they don't posess (and probably never did possess) neccessary knowledge for this job... - "I don't care" type of teacher, is the one that will tell you to read something from the book at home, and let you play games throughout the whole class... This is my oppinion the most destructive type of teacher, as they don't even try to teach you anything, they just do their own projects during class, and let the kids play games... Kids of course like them, and have nothing against playing games the whole time... Not my favourite personaly  - "Real Guru": Now these are the right kind of teachers, in my own oppinion... They know the matter, they know about computers, they aren't afraid you will ask them something they don't know, or afraid to say they don't know something... But they will look it up, and tell you on the next class... They are strict, but fair, and 90% of the kids that finish they class, have the basic knowledge in computers, a knowledge they won't forget in 10 days... Some students like them, some don't, but whe it comes down to what it really maters - knowledge - they are the ones to look for... There are basicaly very few of them, not more than 3% or 4 % of the computer teacher population I'm actualy currently looking to go to computer college, for computer teacher, as I would like to pass on what I know of computers to new generations... I believe I could fit into this last category, and never become like the second one, let alone the first category... But, it's most likely that I won't be actualy be a teacher (because the teacher pay really sucks), only use that diploma to get a better job with computers Anyways, let us know how the meeting went, with your principal and computer teacher... And try not to get so irritated, it will only get worse...

I agree and disagree with a few points. First, we are there to learn, and some students (if not all) did pay for their course in some form. However, there are bound to be a few dud teachers that may either not know much, or is teaching something outside of his/her specialised field. I've only ran into one or two dud cases when it comes to teachers, but still at least raise the issue through the proper channels if anyone feels the teacher isnt doing it's job.

Free laptop haha (9) okay here is my vent and I am very steamed over it. While I was doing some work around the house
and listening to the radio, they played a sales ad for a free laptop. You would think the station
being one of the bigger ones in the NY area that they would not sell ad's to anything "funny"

Anti-computer Parents

My Teacher Is Satan's Lovechild
No kidding (16) My teacher is a terrible person. She is ridiculously mean. She gives out homework just to see my

Immature And Annoying Students
Just a rant because it BUGS me! (6) Alright, here's some background info: I'm not a particularly evil person. I don't

Some Really Annoying Songs
I hear them constantly, in my head and at school (11) There are some songs that everybody just can't forget. I hear them all the time on the radio

I Can't Install Slax On My Computer!
(3) Ok, so I put togeter an old windows 98 computer, ans I want to put slax on it. I boot it from the

Reinstalling Everything On Your Computer
It Is Very Annoying (15) Yesterday I had to reinstall everything on my computer. That is all fine and dandy if I only need to
reinstall Windows so I decided to use the File & Settings Transfer Wizard. After I installed Windows
I used the wizard to import my files and settings. The only stuff that actually got transfered was a
few of my documents, my background, and thats it. Thats just a pain installing all that stuff over
