My computer just stopped working last Sunday I'll explain how and maybe someone know how to fix... So... It was Sunday, my brother went to MediaMarkt to buy a wireless internet router and a wireless receiver for my desktop as it didn't had any, and my mother is always complaining about the wires all over the house... but to don't have any wires arround the house I must have the modem upstairs (2nd floor, 3rd in america lol), and if I have the modem upstairs I recieve the internet at half speed... So, my brother bought it and he added it to the computer and when we started the computer and it gave a error saying that there were something damaged in the computer... He removed it, then started the computer and it didn't start up... it was always in the loading screen... We waited a few hours and nothing... I don't know if it matters, but he used a magnetic screw driver... so anyone have an idea? I'm just so pissed off as I was learning PHP to help a friend with a site and know I have to stop...

IU dont think the screw driver would cause damage unless he held it by any of the components for a long time, one possiblity is a static charge from your brother hitting a component and damaging it. I think the best thing is to take it somewhere and ask whats wrong with it and if they can fix it for you.

On booting up your computer just keep pressing the F8 if successful then you will get a menu and then select safe mode in that list you should be able to get in since only minimum files are used to run the computer. And no that screw driver didn't do anything. You need a powerful magnet to do any serious damage to your computer. Something that small won't do anything. But if you do not get that command prompt i suggest you go to a computer tech and maybe he could figure it out. Also with your computer off take the cover off of the computer and see if anything is disconnected in their. Sometimes a wire could be pulled out by accident.

If you're using Windows XP, you can use the XP CD to repair it. Or the last is reinstalling the Windows.

Don't really know what happen but, he was adding a wireless network card to the computer? The reason it coudn't work could be because of the BIOS (Basic input output system) Setup. If that's the case you would need to re-configure it which is very dangerous, could screw up your computer and not be able to fix it again. This happens when adding a new hardware. If you are unsure to add/fix it yourself, i suggest taking it to your local store or a place that repairs computers. If you weren't adding new hardware, this shoudn't of happen. If your computer is broken are you using a different one? Danny.

Like an earlier post stated, open your case, remove and reinsert your cards and memory. Sometimes something will come loose whenever you open the case. You should not have to enter the bios from just adding a card. Also, knowing what OS you're using could help others help you better.

As shadowx said above, maybe your brother touch some circuit of the motherboard or something like that without discharge himself. For me that sound like the most login reason, motherboards seems like do a semi-boot when that happens.

first, remove everything, except for your RAM and boot-up your computer. If that doesn't work, then it could either be your ram, motherboard, or cpu.. but if everything works fine, turn it off, and plug in your IDE cable (cable to your drives: hard drives, cd drives). But from what you said, it's possbily that your motherboard is broken.

Anti-computer Parents
And why they are bad (11) Most parents don't like their children on the computer or TV a lot. From my personal experience
this was a bad thing. From spending a lot of time on the computer, I have become much more
intelligent. I have learned very good problem solving techniques when something is wrong with my
computer or website. I use these same techniques I learned from being on the computer and apply them
to real-life situations. It is also an excellent resource for ANYTHING. If your child is ambitious
enough, he can learn anything he needs for doing anything. I think I have learned more fr....
My Computer Teacher
Used to be cool to me, but now just annoying (9) My computer teacher is a smart guy. He went to Binghamton University (in NY State, part of the State
University), and is now getting a Master's degree at Queens College. He can also run a computer
class (he does sound dorky in some of my classmates' opinions) that I don't learn anything
in because I know almost everything he taught so far. But lately he's been bugging me. Ever hear
of Foxtrot puzzles? If not, Google it, and come back when you know what it is. What I am saying is
that he is making up do one. He gave us a bitmap of one, and expects us to do....
I'm Going To Kill My Computer Before It Kills Me.
It's just one thing after another... (25) So, I had an issue a while back with my computer. The power supply had died. The computer sat
dormant for about a month before it was fixed. So, last night, after putting the power supply in, I
boot up the computer and everything is dandy. Then the processor fan decides to start making noise.
Usually I can just kind of push gently on one part of it and the noise will go away. But no, not
this time. The noise got, easily, 20 times louder. So I shut my box down and pulled the fan and heat
sink. I fiddled with the fan for a bit.. took a sticker off.. adjusted a clip.. put i....
The Cost Of Computer-related Stuff Today
& other crap that makes PCs suck today! (5) Just a note, I know the cost of most things are far less expensive than they were 50 years ago.
Such as HDDs, RAM, etc. where the price actually dropped 1000s of percents. anyways... Imagine a
time when the newest and best game for the PC came out and it was being reviewed as the best game of
all time. Every site and every reviewer gave it 10/10 and better. high praise for everything about
it. The graphics were intense, the storyline was awesome, the theme was unqiue... everything about
it was awesome and it was "the must game to have this year!" Problem is, i....

I Can't Install Slax On My Computer!
(3) Ok, so I put togeter an old windows 98 computer, ans I want to put slax on it. I boot it from the
CD, it dosen't load. I make a new copy and it works. I go to 'install slax' in kde, and
I get the window, but it's too big for the screen resolution I have it set to!!! Now
I have to get a new graphics card. What I plan on doing though is getting a nice flash drive and

I Hate Computer Hardware!
Still i love computers... (6) Today, just 2 weeks before my planed total system upgrade my video card finally died (more of a coma
if you ask me). Of course it was an AGP one and my planed one would be PCIx, but I also planned to
sell it not for a few $. But as it seems fate has other planes for me. I'm now running on a
nvidia riva tnt2 32mb. I don't want to make any negative publicity for the company but I thought
Leadtek is one of the top companies. Anyway this wouldn't hate the hardware part so much if it
weren't the second time a componet dies when you need it more. Last year....
Somtimes I Just Feel Like Crying
How my computer drives to make me mad (20) I really hate how slow my computer can be somtimes, I also hate it when I try to use Ad-Ware to

Reinstalling Everything On Your Computer
It Is Very Annoying (15) Yesterday I had to reinstall everything on my computer. That is all fine and dandy if I only need to
reinstall Windows so I decided to use the File & Settings Transfer Wizard. After I installed Windows

Venting On The Computer Modem
So far it took me 3 days and nothing happen (7) Well my sister received a free computer (2.5 ghz pentium 4 etc) and for some reason I can't

digitally signed. This the first time that I had problem with installing a modem and it really gets
