If some one have a work around or a better and alternate solutions, do post them here.
But this is what I feel..
From my search, we will not be able to integrate wordpress and mediawiki without much code change in mediawiki and in wordpress php files. It can be done (uncertain), but the problem being the replication of the current situation of the wiki in future and stability of the whole package. Instead we can use the separate wordpress installation along with the wiki, may be we can use the same MySQL instance and use various databases, where all the requirements like posting interesting stuffs, pics etc + comments will be met and it is easy to maintain separately.
In case of mediawiki, you should also take the pain of having to deal with backup scripts and stuffs like that which is not the case with wordpress.
Backup, replication and stuffs are already part of the wordpress package, so nothing extra have to be done. I strongly think that we do not have this in the wiki. If something goes wrong, bringing all this incorporations into the wiki will become a huge task and may also turn out to be a failure...
BUt, i will leave it for the members to give me suggestions and ideas??
