Cname Help

Can I change the CNAME of my domain name from the cPanel.

IF I change the cName to use customised urls for Google Apps for Domains service, will it affect my site , will I be able to use the domain with my hosting account.

CNAME cannot be handled by your cPanel. Only the DNS control can manage your CNAME.

cPanel can only manage MX at the most with very limited ability.

Google Apps for Domain is exactly as it is written--for Domains only. If you have a sub-domain from Trap17.com you cannot take advantage of Google Apps for Domain.

You can change all this from your domain's control panel. I think you have to buy a thing called Managed domain, and then you can change the Cname and MX handlers too.

Cname stands for Canonical Name. These are host names and can be set to point to other domain names and host names. If you require further information, google it: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q...me%3F&meta=.

It should not effect your hosting in anyway. You can set CNAME in two ways.

1. Get an admin to add a CNAME setting to your account in WHM to the url you want.

2. Do it from your domain control panel (not all domain providers use this so you may not have it with yours)

I dont have the option to change the CNAME for my domain in my domain control panel, I've to pay for it extra. Ok, I'll try to create my customised URLs for Google Apps for Domains by redirection.
