My Clan Site

Wup guys, well, first let me tell you that i am really really proud of this website i just made, not only for what it represents to our clan, by the way is a CLAN SITE (call of duty 2) but believe me when i tell
you that its a clan site like you never saw one before, but also im proud of it cause its SOOOOOOO NICE
Since the call of duty 2 game is about the world war 2, the site needed to be like old rusty, something to be accor to the world war 2.

Its fully flash, but the loading times are great. Nice look, nice sounds, nice navigation.

I know it sounds a little to cocky for me to tell, lol lol, but i am proud of it, so i guess i have the right to showmyself.

Right now the only problem are the gramatical errors, cause my first language is spanish and i cant write very well in english, but other than that ITS COOLLL

So guys, check the site, and give me your thoughts about it, suggestions are welcome.

It is a very well designed site and neatly organised. Considering, you've used flash the pages load quickly. Some improvements though:

If you want to be indexed on google and other search engines, you should have some text on the page like "Clan site for the 131st Rifle Brigade" as search engines can't read flash.
When people are trying to search for you site amidst the tabs/windows they have open, it would be easier if they have something to go by. At the moment, you just have "Untitled Document". Changing the <title> text will also help search engines index your site.

Your overall rating:

9/10 - Really well designed and designed in such a way that all browsers can open it. However not very search engine friendly. You should provide an on/off switch for the music.

edit: I've just realised that the music I've been hearing is coming from your site! However when I went to turn it off so it wouldn't distract what I was listening to already, there wasn't an off/mute switch. You should provide one.

great job lairz.. yeah need to really change the title.. Untitled Document really spoils the professional look of your website..

great graphics, fast loading time..

Agreed on the music on-off button. I know you allowed for the volume to be turned down but some people prefer switching off the music all together. Also the volume slider bar do like to stick to the mouse sometimes.. haven't had the same experience with the other scroll bars.

I like the "sticky" scroll bars btw.. but sometimes it doesn't "stick" as well especially after scrolling half way down.

With regards to the shiny feel of the logo (the one with the two rifles). It might help if you use don't use solid colors but a gradient fill where it is solid white in the center and fades out. (Hope you understand what I mean).

Well those are just my own opinions, hope they help. Otherwise nice professional looking site.. Good Job!

thanks for your comments, about the untitled, and the search engine optimized thing, its cause its not completly finished, in fact the link i posted its on my server, it havent upload it yet to the 131rb.com server.

When you enter the site, the first page, will be a nonflash page, that will tell you to download the flash payer 8 if you dont have it, and there im gonna do some text, plus i havent made the metatags yet. lol

About the volume, it works, just that it isnt not very selfexplanatory, cause you have to drag it up and down to control de sound

I know what you meant with the shine effect, in fact that was the way i planned in the firs time, but i was tired and didnt want to make the mask fo the logo, so i just did the easy way, but now that is finished, ill do it, lol

Can't see the site very well, i can only hear the music and see a black/brown graffics!!!

Don't know if it's my flash version (didn't install version 8 yet), but by the others users votes seems pretty good!!

Great job. One of the few Flash sites I've seen recently that I've actually been impressed with (although it took me a while to realise the navigation was at the bottom). But year, just tone down the self back-patting a bit.

Takes a while to load on my dialup, but it looks really proffesional in my eyes. Wow this is really great, it's the best flash thing i've seen in a long time, besides that it's slow on dialup it still works fine and is really good. Keep up the good work

Thanks for all your comments, i really apreciate them.
About the loading times, well i live in el salvador, and here mos people dont have a very fast connection, so when i do a website i always have to care a lot about sizes, and loading times, wich put me some limits in the design.

But since this site was oriented to people living in the us and canada, i thought i could go a little further with sizes, but even i did bigger movies, the loading times still very reazonable.

I would not believe it's a clan site until you said so. It simply looked so professional, like the official flash website of Call of Duty game. Everything is so professionally made.

I'm thinking if you are to update your site, totally flash built website will be a definate hassle if you've many updates.. Nice alignment, great graphics, soft yet energetic background music.. Good..!

About the making of the site, i used Flash for the animation of course, Fireworks for the picture retouching, the interface (the metal panels, all of them) i made them in 3DS max cause i really wanted something rusty and old, and there was no way to find a pic like that and the shape i wanted.
And i aslo use Adobe Audition to shrink the backgroun sound to a loop.

About the download section i been pretty busy but i just finished making like 3 wallpapers so i m gonna put them anytime soon.

. . . that aside. . .

Graphics:
Excellent textures and quality. Love the darkness aroudn the edges of the site, and all the differernt layers it builds up. Also the varrying graphics on each page fit very nicely and keepthe pages fresh.
The loading bars are a really ncie touch too.

Mood:
Overall excellent. The music is really fitting n stuff for the over all war theme, not sure where you found it, but if you made it yourself, very well done! The graphics and moody music create a really good fitting feel to the site.

Content:
Good amount of content n such, but the Downlaods section stuff was missing what it promised, so minus on that sorry.

Aniamation:
I like the way you use the commo ntechnique of lots of basic motion tweens to build up the content on a page, very nice and effective with the sound fx.

Sound:
like i've already said the backgroudn music was very fitting,and the ability to turn it off was a great and much needed feature. Sound fx of the menus and naviagtion are also very good, and timed very well. Nothing unessary in my opinion.

Overall. . . . 9/10 for a flash site

+ Great aniamtion
+ Great graphics
+ Good loading times
+ Nice music and sound fx
+ good content

- really not keen on the type in boxes which turn orange when u click on them. . . ruins the flow and style of the site in my opinion.
- like i said, some content is not functional

well done, really nice site

hope to one day get as good as that at flash!
