i have a band called 2 Days From Yesterday and we needed something to do with our time, so we made a site for us. Theres a couple acoustic songs on the site so far, im still in progress of making the site. so far its alright but its gonna be beef'd up a bit soon. well anywayz, heres the site, 2 Days From Yesterday, theres another one 2DFY.Tk, but i HATE .tk cuz of the popups and ads everywhere, if anyone knows of a better free domain name, plz let me know. it would be much appreciated.

I think your site will be look much better if you add some pictures of you, your band, instruments and other members of the band, on the same pages with text.

On same pages there's only text, so try to combine text and pictures. And also change te red text color into another color, like white.

You can make some tables, and put the images left or right from the text. If you don't know how this should be done, take a look on this:w3schools :: Tables

Is that your band singing in the background? Not a bad site but if you plan on using it to advertise your band you might want to add a bit more. If you would like a free domain go HERE. You can get a beljem domain name(.be). Good Luck!

Well, I like the plainness and simplicity of the design, although the red on black is tough on my old eyes.
The embedded music is good. I like the tune, too.
There is a pix gallery for viewing the pix on, so I'm okay with the lack of pix on the home page. Loads pretty quickly.
Just curious about the name of your band. How did you come up with it?
Why not some reference to there being three Joshes playing in it? Just curious.

Site Review

Well for some reason, in firefox your site just displays the source code and nothing else.

So I guess I'll have to review it from ie6:

The site is very basic and simple and I like that in a design because that means it loads quickly on my 56k modem

However I think the main problem with the site is the link colouring. On the links page for example, all the links are invisible because the default colour of your links are black which matches the main colour of your background. Another example of this can be found on the home page and the bottom where the top of page link is invisible.

My other suggestion would be that the counter should appear at the bottom of the page rather than right at the top. The header of the page should be the first thing which users see.

However, I do like the background image you have used and a small graphical header, rather than text at the top, would really make your site look 100% better.

RATING: 7/10.
SUGGESTIONS: Modify the width and height <embed> tag so that you can turn the music on/off. [/tab][tab] Change the colours of some of the links so that they are visible when viewing the page.

if you're going to put music on your site, you should convert the mp3 file into 8kbits stream. It will reduce the size that way. If you worry about quaility, then have a low quality verison and a high quailty and let your visiters choose.

And wow, your band is really good. i like the song. =P

try www.biz.ly or www.co.nr

it doesn't have any ads support.. all you need to do is put a link back to their site.

Thnx for the Suggestions
yea, umm.. i have NO idea why firefox isnt displaying the graphical interface of the HTML. if anyone has a cure for this plz post back, id love to be able to fix this. thnx for all the comments and suggestions, i will take these to heart. Could someone post a tutorial or just a description of how to make a popup in HTML so visitors can chose a Hi-Fi or Lo-Fi version of the songs?, that would be great. I tried to keep the file sizes down becuase of the dial-upers. Ill be adding more pix throughout the site and i will deffinately make the tables to add text w/ pix, (thnx for the suggestion). Ill be updating quite frequently. and thnx for the domain links, i cant stand .tk, it annoyes me to death with the popups. Ill be moving the counter to the bottom as suggested and creating a logo inplace of it, a band logo. Ill be adding some edited pix just for fun, and i shall be changing the link (active and not) colors around a bit, same for the "to the top" one. Im gonna be adding a mouse text tail soon as well and my main goal for now is to get a link so people can download the .wma files of the songs. once thats established i will limit the streaming audio. If anyone would like me to add their site with mine, ill consider requests in return for a link on your page. :-) . thnx again for the suggestions.

oh, and if anyone knows a GOOD tutorial of how to php a membership database w/ login, plz post this, i cant figure it out for the life of me, i HATE php lol.

Hey thnx, yea, its my band in the background, weve got REALLLY bad recording stuff, soon we'll have better ones up. im deffinately getting that .be domain, thnx alot for that. Ill be adding alot more soon, i just put up the site into effect this morning.

I notice that there is no DTD - Document Type Declaration.
Would this be what is doing the source code display in the Firefox Browsers?

A sample of the DTD for HTML can be found at the w3schools website. Also, the Meta tag for the CharacterSet can be found there as well. Might be these two missing items that are messing up the display.
