| | I need to change my DNS records, that is, to add several CNAME records... Now, I registered my top level domain (.net) through my ISP, and they in turn registered my domain at some other registrar... Now, my ISP doesn't give me CPanel to update my DNS info, if I don't buy their hosting plan (which is pathetic compared to Trap17 free account)... I had them change my nameservers to Trap17 servers, and now, they tell me I need to edit CNAME records on Trap17 nameservers... I must admit I'm not really familiar with how all that DNS administration works, so I wanted to ask if it is true? Do I need to somehow change DNS records here? Is it at all possible?
What I want to do is: I registered with Google Apps, and have my email through them, and now I want to setup CNAME records, to point to Google Apps pages, through my domain (eg. docs.todorowww.net), without setting up redirection... Is it possible? |

BuffaloHELP provided a handy guide to getting Google Apps working. It was written a little while ago, so some of the wording may have changed slightly, but the principles should be exactly the same. I don't use Google Apps, so I've no idea if it works, but give it a go  Let us know if you're successful in getting it working.

Thank rvalkass, but that's not exactly what I wanted to know... I set up Google Apps just fine, and they're all working, MX records have been changed, and Google accepts incoming mail... What I want now is, to change CNAME records, to point to ghs.google.com, to use with my domain... For now, I have set up simple subdomain redirection, but would like to do it more neatly... But I don't know whether cPanel and Trap17 allow editing of all DNS records... I checked the entire cPanel, and can't find any area where to edit DNS records... Is that possible... For example, to add several MX records, or add some CNAME or other records?

Ah, OK. I have looked all through cPanel and can find no way to edit the CNAME records or anything like that. All I found was a way to change the MX Records, which I am sure you are aware of anyway. Looking into the documentation it appears that DNS records and things like that can only be edited by the server admins. Fire off a request to support and I'm sure they'll be happy to change it for you. http://www.xistosupport.com/

to be able to change the MX record and the CNAME from the domain control panel we need pay for them other than that you've paid for the domain. you can change the MXRecord for using Google Apps from your cPanel

Question About Accesing Site After Changing Domain [resolved]
Anyone have answers (2) Just wanted to make sure that I didnt screw up things. Either way i just currently had the domain
name changed here on Trap17. So I have made that change as well as I also pointed the servers for
my domain to trap 17. So now my question is to i need to wait until the servers read my domain..

Domain Name Changing Questions
(4) Yes i now there are a ton of fourms about domain name chaning, but i could not find the answer to my
specific question so, the owner of the website i am co-webmaster of is planning on closing down his
site, but visitors say i should keep it up...so i am going to....so to keep him from having to stay

Problem After Changing Sub-domain!
(3) Today about 5-10 mins ago I changed my sub-domain from www.forum-resources.trap17.com to
www.gfxheadquarters.trap17.com I followed everything correctly and made sure that everything was
working and in order and then it said. Successfully Changed and stuff, but I still can't
access it. Does it take like 1-2 hours or something for it to successfuly go through the system or
something and refresh the cache? Any suggestions or ideas. Can you pull up the logs or something and
make sure I typed in the correct sub-domain name?....

(13) Hi, i have recently bough a top level domain from GoDaddy.com and now I am having a few problems

Changing Domain Name On Trap17
Instruction Needed (4) concerning my recent application for a default credit account, I somehow managed to enter a xxxx.com
for the "requested address" instead of xxx.trap17.com. I think I was just fiddling around with the
text fields and forgot to go back and change that feild before I hit the submit button. By then, it
was too late and my credits reverted to "days" and I can't create a new hosting address.
I'm afraid to do the "terminate account" because then I'd have to start over from scratch.
Ideas? yes it was my fault, just hoping to remedy this before it's too late.....
My Site Is Not Changing

updating dns records
(2) while i was changing the dns records to ns1.trap17.com , ns2.trap17.com the domain is still
working with the previous host , i know that updating the dns records takes about 24 hours but ,
does that mean that the two hosts will work togather ?? or meant that updating the dns records was
not done successfully ?? or what ? or it is normal and after the updating is complete the domain
will just work with the new (trap17's) host ?....
