but would there be any way to keep http://blukirby.trap17.com up for about 3 weeks with a page that says "we have moved!!" because the amount of hits I've been recving has vastly descreased and it took me a lot of work to get so many hits, and not that many people know about the URL change. So it would be nice =/ do you guys know if this is possible? |

Yes. In your .htaccess file located at the root of your site (inside www or public_html but not in any directory higher or lower than that), append this code to it: CODE redirect 301 / http://blukirby.trap17.com/message.html In message.html located at the root, put up a nice little message that says you moved, and put up a nice large link to your new site. My mistake was not doing this sooner because I thought this method wouldn't work, so my daily unique visitors went from 5000 to 1000. If you have two different layouts for both sites, you can just redirect everyone to your new site: CODE redirect 301 / http://seigikan.net/ This way, search engines will modify their databases to include your new URL. Good luck!

eh...does this effect happen instantly? because i tried editing my .htaccess so the last line says "redirect 301 / http://seigikan.net/" but it still doesn't redirect when i type in "http://blukirby.trap17.com" =/

If you changed the primary domain name to your top level domain name, then you don't have access to blukirby.trap17.com anymore, and unless another user requests it, it won't exist.

ok...I'm sorry about the double posting.... I decided to go to the trap17.com domain change processing form to change my URL back to http://blukirby.trap17.com and then park seigikan.net for a month, then go back to the domain change processing form and make my domain seigikan.net but the problem with doing that is when I tried to park or addon my domain, this message would show up: QUOTE Sorry, you are not allowed to add any more than ( 0 ) parked domains! but on the front of my cpanel page, it says i have unlimmited =/ does that mean I have to go back and get 15 credits all over again to change it back to seigikan.net or can you fix this so I can park it just for a month.

You can only program it (write yourself a code which is available in our forum, search for "redirect" in tutorial or the search engine) to go from trap17.com to your new site when you have yourName.trap17.com as your domain. When you changed from youName.trap17.com to your TLD (top level domain) you lost your trap17's subdomain. Therefore, you cannot program anything to redirect from your trap17 to TLD. And no, trap17 does not offer URL redirect when you don't have subdomain of trap17.

Hmmm...I've decided to change my URL back to http://blukirby.trap17.com and get seigikan.net hosted somewhere else =/ i wanted them to be two seperate sites anyways. Thank you guys for your help =D this topic can be closed now, sorry for the trouble~

oh yea, I guess I did have to wait for it to propagate well, everything seems to be working just fine now =D I don't think I'll be running into anymore URL problems XD this topic can be closed now ~ btw: no, I didn't install any popups to my site 0_o

I am looking at your subdomain and it has a picture titled "Quick Hiatus!" Is that right? Perhaps it just needed few hours for the subdomain to propagate. I also see that there's a pop-up. Did you install that or am I looking at the wrong place?

I looked everywhere in Cpanel but I can't find where I can change the DNS records for my domain.
This is the only thing stopping me from moving my website over to trap17, because I need to manage
DNS myself. If I can't manage it then at least I should be able to disable it. And Trap17 offers
professional hosting so they shoulf offer this too. EDIT: There should be somewhere in Cpanel that
