well i had created a subdomain and was transferring files into the folder i was disconnect from the server many times while uploading the files via ftp
once when i reconnect, i saw a file with an unusual name something starting with preftp... i tried deleting the file, but it said that permission was not granted to do that i tired deleting the complete folder and also tried deleting the subdomain from the cpanel but it was of no use
i have had this problem before also, i know jlhaslips has responded to this, but what i figured out to do was, this is just my opinion on it.but i figured it might be a file showing the failure to upload some of the files..so meaning you were disconnected in the middle of uploading a whole mess of files.and what i did was try and re-upload all of the files then shut down the FTP, i think i also shut down computer and then went back to FTP manager and it allowed me to delete it..you migh be able to try that is the helpdesk has not gotten to you yet
Those files are not supposed to be deleted as they are created by the ftp transfer software and the ftp server. They contain the details regarding the transfer and messing them up can result in data loss during transfer.

Many times a strange problem happens to me...when im uploading some file and after that if i want to delete some folder from my public_html , then i can not delete it...or if i want to change some permissions of files, and after doing OK , it doesnt even change..and then i ihad to do everything (deleting and chaning permissions through file manager

Hello chaps - this thread is quite old; but!
The reason you can't delete web folders is because the folder has a locked and hidden file inside! - even ftp programmes can't 'SEE' it ...
You have to use your web manager - "LOG IN" - "Navigate to the offending folder" and click on 'ADVANCED' view - you'll usually see something like .VT_LOG or ."some_file_name" - select it and delete it! - up one level and delete the folder - GONE!
These files are a pain - and get left from Mickysoft apps or badly drawn PHP file installers - sometimes from "CGI" counters ...
When I goto upload files using the file manager(legacy mode), the files do not upload correctly.
Every time I try to upload a file, it takes the time to upload it, but the file always comes out

Hi there. I have been trying to upload a zip file only about 2mb to my account through CPanel.
First I tried uploading it to a new folder in public_ftp. Then i tried to put it in the main part
of public_ftp. I also tried the same thing in public_html. It shows the file being uploaded, and i
get 100 %, but alas, when i look in the folders nothing is there. Is there a restriction on .zip
files? I have had no problems as of yet uploading htm and html pages. Please let me know ASAP.

I can't delete a little file using file manager in Cpanel. I'm trying to delete a .png
image, actually, I'm trying to replace it. The response comes back as a success, but when I
reload my site it's still there. Then I go back to the file manager and go up a level, then back

I'm using FileZilla right now, and trying to upload a second copy of WordPress onto the account
to use as a comic repository. For some reason, a lot of the files are missing, and when I look into
the folders, I see that a lot of the files have a filelength of 0. What gives? Could someone

For some odd reason, one of the folders in my template folder cannot be renamed, deleted or edited
in any way. I simply get the error 550 Rename/move failure: Permission denied upon trying to do any
of the aforementioned things. I can download everything from it just fine, but as soon as I do
anything to write to it or delete it, it gives me that error. I'm 99% sure its a glitch in the

when any php script create file it gets the sam permission right but i cant edit any new file crated

Alright, I figured out the edit html windows need to be refreshed each time opening them for them to
show the last updates so you don't just work off the old, un-updated version and mess everything
up (which really should get fixed). The problem that most annoys me though is when I try deleting
files and the File Manager doesn't delete them. I try uploading updated files over them and it
doesn't update them, but just keeps the old ones there. It's getting really annoying. And
when I try deleting stuff from the Trash Can, it never deletes it. Sometime....

Okay, I am having trouble saving changes to a .css file using the cpanel filemanager. Basically it
worked for me a couple of times (trying to edit "compiled.css") but now it just throws this error at
me every time I click save!! I cannot delete, move, rename or edit the file at all using an
ftp manager or even the cpanel. I have been forced to take my site offline until I have access to

*edit* Ok well the original problem has been solved. I have installed phpBB2 on my new how here.
Transfered all of the database files over. On my new forums all of the old posts and everything
shows up right. The problem is when I click the "Go to administration panel" at the bottom it links
me to log into my ACP on my old forums. It changes the url and all. If I hover over the link it
says that it will be directed to the right way, the way I want, but it doesn't. Does anyone
know anyway to fix this?....
Hey, i just uploaded and installed Smf on my website. Everything is working fine with the forums
themselves, but every now and then i get 1 or 2 messages. Here they are. " Database Error: Lost

I installed a plugin and then I removed it from the ftp, but it seems their created folder is still
in my directory. When I try to remove it, I got a FTP 550 Permission denied error, how can I fix
this? I believe it is causing some problems with my other plugin. Also what is the default

hello i've been trying to remove a folder on my ftp location here at trap17 but it doesn't
seem to do anything at all if an admin or anyone else who has the capabilities can remove it,

The version of Konqueror that comes with Knoppix 5.1 doesn't support the file manager in the
cPanel. I've included a picture. However the File Manager works just fine with
Iceweasal, the equivelant browser to Firefox. ....
I've chosen to install WordPress manually and things were going well so far...until I hit an
installation error when I tried to run the install.php file on my browser. For the record, I
logged into CPanel and went into MySQL Databases, created the databases, the username and added the
user to the database - as suggested in the installation procedure. Perhaps there's a mistake in

Ok, I want to host a video that I have in my computer, but the problem is that the video is too
big, 790MB. My host can't handle a file that huge so I was wondering if there is any way I can
