Cancer Advice: Asprin Can Help

Taking asprin regularly may make you up to 50 per cent less likely to develop colon or rectal cancer.
A massive study of 6,217 people conducted at four major medical institutions in the United States revealed that people who took asprin at least four times a week had half the risk of developing colorectal cancer when compared with others who never took asprin, or those who only used it occasionally.

Explaining the findings, Dr Paul Stolley, professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, said: "It seems that asprin may inhibit the formation of substances in the body called prostaglandins which are known to play a role in the growth of tumours".

Added Dr William Castell,an expert in preventive medicine at Harvard Medical School and director of the famed Framingham Heart Study: " Taking asprin four times a week would not only help reduce the risk of large bowel caner, but also reduce the risk of heart attacks and heart diseases."
A word of caution, however, before you rush off to buy asprin, check with your gp, it can cause stomach bleeding if you are prone to ulcers.
Aspin tablets are usually 300mg per tablet, and many experts regard 75mg enough to reduce the risk of the above diseases, so by breaking one tablet into four and taking 75mg four times per week would be a good idea, provided you have no history of stomach problems.

Um...as much as i dont doubt some university guys/girls i really dont think regularly taking medicines which you do not need is a good idea. For a start when you do need aspirin it would probably have less of an effect than it usually would have, also you might become addicted to aspirin as it is possible and i know that it isnt a lot to be taking but nor is one cigarette a day which turns into 5 then ten and so on...

I think the best advice for avoiding cancer is to stay fit and healthy, eat the right foods with plenty of vitamins etc... and accept the fact, however morbid it may be, that cancer might still attack you anyway. You cant really avoid it, you can reduce your chances by being healthy and making sure your body is in good shape to fight back but thats the most you can do im afraid.

I'll stick with the occasional ibuprofen to kill pain instead... this sort of seems to me like you'd just be raising your risk of one thing (stomach problems) while lowering another.

There are many research conducted to determine the effect of Asprin in cancer. In almost all experiment shows that asprin or NSAID (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs) can reduce the risk or cancer. But be careful, it does not mean that you start taking asprin to reduce the risk of cancer. These researches help to fiend out a safe and effective prevention system or medicine against any disease. Let one research concluded that X is effective to reduce in Y disease, but it needs other research to find out the safety level, side effects, residual effect etc.

Lesley A. Stark et. al. (and other) conducted an experiment and found that there is compelling evidence that NSAIDs (asprin) have a protective effect against colorectal cancer.

A study of Oxford University showed that, taking of one 300 mg tablet of asprin per day for more than five years can reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer by 37 percent. It may be reduced to 74 percent if the treatment continues 10 to 15 years.

There are so many researches like this. But remember many research also proved that aspirin can have serious side-effects, like stomach bleeding.

So, take the information (asprin can reduce the risk of cancer) just as an information or research result, do not start taking asprin to reduce the risk or cancer. Do not take any medicine without the advice of a registered doctor.

how much asprin is important
Cancer Advice: Asprin Can Help

If asprin is to become a daily medicine than the amount that is good for you is very important. I wouldn't start taking more of it until I understood that. Part of the problem with all these different recommendations from all these studies, is that they are not really saying how much to take except in a very general way. I started taking an 81 mg dose of baby asprin a day for the heart benefits. If that could be enough to protect against cancers than great. I don't believe 81mg will hurt me in any significant way. However, if I'm told that taking a much larger dose daily will do something good without being told there may be side effects, or interactions with or against other things I ingest, than I would definitely question that. Asprin is a powerful medicine. Taking it like a vitamin should be looked at carefully. Everyone should find out what they need as an individual before jumping on the myriad of bandwagons the media keep throwing at us.

We are all individuals with many traits and risk factors. Those things need to be sorted out before deciding on a regimen of any kind. There is no magic bullet. Good food, movement and calming down are probably the best things you can do for yourself.
