before you jump rightaway into the jungle of programming, know the reason why.
because learning c++ needs a lot of determination and understanding of your objective in life.

or else you might find you self waisting time.

To answer your question, you can find a book in c++ in almost anybookstor or just google for c++ manual in the Internet.

Good luck

hi fsd,
i agree with the fact that you should learn C programming before going for C++. C++ is an improvement over C. So it would be better to learn C before C++, as you will get to know about the basics. Also I think you should get a good book on C++ and learn classes yourself by reading from the book. I dont think anyone will take any pains to teach you the basics of classes. You can ask for tutorials when you have atleast some knowledge. Tutorials should be taken when you encounter a problem while programming or when you want to learn some advanced things from someones experience.
I would recommend you to first get some popular C++ programming and then learn all the syntaxes and knowledge about Class in C++ and then if you encounter any problems while programming you may ask for a tutorial.
Also i would like to recommend you to start learning C if you havent learned much in C++. If you have already gone too deep into C++ and have a clear concept about everything then you may not need to take up C. If you need any tutorial for C programming then i am ready to help

What are some specific examples of what can be programmed in C++ ? And don't tell me 'everything' or I will have it doing my laundry. I would like to learn the language but I need to have an objective of something to program.

I have slight problem with understanding what you want. Do you ask for the explanation how to use objects and how to program them if so I would be glad to take you trough the process.

QUOTE C++ is a bunch of small additions to C, with a few major additions. One major addition is
the object-oriented approach (the other addition is support for generic programming, which we'll
cover later). As the name object-oriented programming suggests, this approach deals with objects. Of
course, these are not real-life objects themselves. Instead, these objects are the essential
definitions of real world objects. Classes are collections of data related to a single object type.
Classes not only include information regarding the real world object, but also fun....

I'm using Dev-C++ as a compiler. (To use a classroom assignment as an example,) here is my
problem...I've got classes Dog and Cat, which inherit from class Animal, (which uses iostream,
stdlib, and some classes created by students) When I include both Dog and Cat in a new file, I get
errors because I'm including libraries twice. (iostream included from Dog, and from Cat...)I can
get around the problem by having Dog inherit Animal, and Cat inherit Dog (which sounds pretty
idiotic, I know..I was just testing to see if the problem was really what I thought it w....
