"The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, I actually haven' finished reading the book because I learned to be unafraid of death and I just don't want anything altering that.

Jack Kerouac (pronounced [dʒak ˈkɛrʊæk]) (March 12, 1922 – October 21, 1969) was an American novelist, writer, poet, artist, and part of the Beat Generation. While enjoying popular but little critical success during his own lifetime, Kerouac is now considered one of America's most important authors. The spontaneous, confessional prose style inspired other writers, including Tom Robbins, Richard Brautigan, Hunter S. Thompson, Ken Kesey, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. Kerouac's best known works are On the Road, The Dharma Bums and Big Sur.

He divided most of his adult life between roaming the vast American landscape and living with his mother. Faced with a changing country, Kerouac sought to find his place, eventually bringing him to reject the values of the fifties. His writing often reflects a desire to break free from society's mold and to find meaning in life. This search may have led him to experiment with drugs (he used alcohol, psilocybin, marijuana, and benzedrine, among others to study spiritual teachings such as Buddhism) and to embark on trips around the world. His books are often credited as the catalyst for the 1960s counterculture.

Kerouac died in St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of forty-seven from an internal hemorrhage thought to have been caused by alcoholism.

The World According to Garp definitly changed my life. It was written by John Irving, one of the best-known American author. I don't really know how this book changed my life but it did. I read it one year ago but still I think of it with much love, the story of the life of S.T Garp and his relatives really changed some opinions I had towards life.
I really suggest you to read it if you haven't already, it's really really good.

Life changing is probably a little bit strong, but the Belgarion series of books by David Eddings are extremely good. The are of a similar genere to Lord of the Rings, but in my opinion better in every way.

One book that did make me think about things in a different was was a book called 'The Truth About Roswell', written by the Colonel who was in charge of the 'cover-up'. Its weird, but I read the book once a few years ago, & have never been able to find any trace of it since, either online or in the real world. It explained some good points - the arrival of night vision, microwaves etc, all things that are common now but technology that appeared almost overnight in the 50s.

If you ever come across it I recommend you read it, it might change your opinion on a few things.

  12. What Is The Most Messed Up Book You Have Ever Read?
Tell us what books are really messed up, but not necessarily good/bad (11)
I myself just started reading the book "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis. It's seriously
the most effed up book I have ever read. I was reading during "DEAR" at my school today ("Drop
everything and read".... hella retarded name) and my mouth gaped open in awe at what I was reading.
I was like oh em gee, dudes!! This stuff is messed up. This guy, the "protagonist" (Though the
reader kind of hates him too), is a psychotic. He is very homophobic and hateful towards almost
everyone . He rapes his girlfriend. He went up to this bum and started offering him l....
  13. Books Converted Into Movies Or Movies Into Books.
Once again I find a new topic about something and movies... (18)
Hello! I hated Harry Potter. It was good at the first few movies, but it just got worse. I have lost
interest. Unforunate Events was good, I liked it. It was funny, but in the movie the wedding play
was supposed to be before they moved into Monty's house. Otherwise, it would have been better.
If you would like to say which book should be a movie, say it here or share your comments of the
movies that are already out. I like books converted into movies, but the novels thay come out with
for the movies are weird. Most have 8 SCREENSHOTS FROM THE MOTION PICTURE! or, the ....

    His Books.. (1)
I don't know if many people read his books, maybe some have read American Psycho but aren't
really into the author. I happen to be a very big fan of him, it all started when i read The Rules
of attraction. Its about 3 people (Sean, Lauren, and Paul) Sean happens to really like Lauren, and
Lauren kind of likes Sean, but at the same time Lauren is still in love with victor. Meanwhile, Paul
(lauren's ex) has a crush on Sean. Another character happens to have a crush on sean...but its
not so promising, and she is probably my favorite character in the whole book....

Come on! Tell us! Lol... (35)
Alrighty. This is kinda weird for me to post this because I really don't read that much but
there are a few that I truly love! First of all, I really like "The Davinci Code" and "Angels and
Demon's" Both outstanding books! Great plot! Unexpected endings! Kept moving to keep me
interested! Very good! If you havent read either of them for any reason, religious or not, I would
suggest reading them! They are great. Now my truly favorite trilogy... or at least soon to be
trilogy, is the "Domain" trilogy by Steve Alten. Basically, its this huge story about the end of....

  17. What's Your Favourite Book? Why?
A small investigation about most popular books (94)
The question is very simple, what is your favourite boook? And why? I have also added a small pool
about how many books do you read each year. Anyway my favourite is L.A. Confidential written by
James Ellroy. It's a very good police story with a intriguing plot, but it's also a
masterpiece of politic and social analize. The power games of institutions, the corruption that have
attacked police and government and the general undeground atmosphere are the pillars fo this
beautiful book. It isn't a simply police book, but a fresco of a society and of a period of ....
