Blue Ray Discs are greattt! laugh.gif They are so worth it for the cost if them , which is sooo scpensive these days. YEah now games can hold more memory so that might make them longer and well worth it, for the price that they will cost for the playsation 3 game system. I guess i no why everybody doesnt like them because of their horrible price that has boosted the cost of the PS3 but hey wouldn't you want a systemm with the best graphics abnd souind and movies and all of that?? I wouild and would pay 600 dolalrs for the great PS3 console. Three cheers for Blu RRay: Hip hip hooray, Hip hip hooray, Hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif

I want to know how this will work in the long term. This is brought to us by the same people who grought us the failed beta tapes, the failing UMD, and this new Blu-Ray.

But beyond the history from Sony what I am worried about is weather or not the cost outweighs the benefits. Can you really convince everyone to replace their whole DVD collection again be it BluRay or HD-DVD? Then with these overly obtrusive DRMs these products have all been effectivly tagged "Defective By Design"...

A format war does noting to help cosnumers, the DRMs inconveniences consumers, and here you are trying to get them to replace their existing collections and/or pay 2-3x more than what they can get a standard DVD version for? Good luck there...

Any improvement in space is welcome, but I doubt if we really need this nowadays. I think a DVD has enough storage for our general purposes. I suppose this will be great for large files but I donŽt know if I want or need lots of films or thousands of records into one blue ray.

And IŽll wait till one of them, Blue Ray or HD-DVD sets like an estandar... it could be a waste of money to buy some device of one of these formats right now.

i dont think Blue Ray will catch on as for one its very expensive for a disc and also cd's and dvd's will all become obsolete as of digital storage such as portable USB's and portable Hard drives. Also all dvd's are capable of playing HD pictures as HD is just a screen resolution and a certain colour bit. I dont need a disc that can hold like 50GB of data ive got hotswap Hard Discs each containing 500GB of storage. So all i need to do is just pull the hdd out of its slot if i need to transport a lot of data otherwise ill just use a USB.

There was a post a while back like this I think, anyways, I said then as I say now, I think they'll catch on, they're good, and as graphics, and programing get more complicated and advanced the larger files will grow.

It's just a way for them to get more money from us so they'll be rich, if you notice they come out with something around christmas with the excuse "It's expensive to make" only a few years later for that to cost about half of what it did then which is a way to "Snatch money" as you said.

This is for all you who think that the ps3 is a bit to expensive. First of all the ps3 was not suppose to be at the price it is now cause sony is losing money for making them instead of gaining. Another thing is blueray players range from $800 up. When you get the ps3 you are getting a deal cause you are getting a high def player and also you are getting a system that packs a punch in graphics and game play. Also there has been a issue about the hdtv you have to get well my monitor is hd so there is my tv a 20 inc monitor is good enough for me to play my games and watch tv. smile.gif

I don't really care much for the Blue Ray Discs. They are really just for Sony products and even tho I like PS2....i'm not a huge fan of SONY. I read somewhere something about Blue Ray Discs not making any pornos. They banned any pornos from being on the blue ray discs and the article I read said that any type of product battle (like HD DVD .vs. Blue Ray is now) - the side that chose to allow porn on it won. I can't wait to see Blue Ray's go out of business.....but they could surprise us.

Interesting topic here, so I'll add my two cents. Blu-Ray discs are getting a lot of promotion in Japan, but only time will tell which of the two products will win the battle. Ideally, you would like a player that's capable of playing both. As mentioned earlier, Blu-Ray discs are too expensive, but like any new electronic product, the price will come down over time...depending on the demand of the customers.
