A weblog (usually shortened to blog, but occasionally spelled web log or weblog) is a web-based publication consisting primarily of periodic articles, most often in reverse chronological order. Early weblogs were simply manually updated components of common websites. However, the evolution of tools to facilitate the production and maintenance of web articles posted in said chronological fashion made the publishing process feasible to a much larger, less technical, population. Ultimately, this resulted in the distinct class of online publishing that produces blogs we recognize today. For instance, the use of some sort of browser-based software is now a typical aspect of "blogging". Blogs can be hosted by dedicated blog hosting services, or they can be run using blog software on regular web hosting services.
Like other media, blogs often focus on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news. Some blogs function as online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.
So... whats your opinion on flat-file websites? You know, no databases, everything is stored in txt,
php, or html documents... In my opinion I really like using them. This is mainly because I have yet
to learn anything about databases /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0"
alt="tongue.gif" /> Post any advantages or disadvantages you think they possess.... I like them
because, for me, they are fairly easy to use once created. A disadvantage in my opinion is that it
takes a while to code properly so it functions well. ...

This is for all of you who have websites. There is an outrageous number of websites out there of all
different types. I thought it would be interesting to see what kinds of websites everyone has here
at trap17. So if you have a website (or more than one, not necessarily hosted by trap17), share what
its about. What do you like to put on your site? Also, provide a link if you can. Even if you dont
have a website but are planning on making one, share your thoughts and maybe you'll get some
extra ideas. As for me, I currently do not have a site. I used to have one that...

Blogging is a great way to let friends and family know what's going on with your life, or with
your mind? It's a nice outlet for the budding, amateur writer. Who in here has a blog that they
update regularly?...
I know that HTTPS stands for the normall stuff, and then add secure . But can someone explain how
these work, or how I can install them on my website, or create a secure directory? Do you need a
GNUP or SSL or can someone just explain what it does. Thanks, in advanced. /smile.gif"

Let's say, everyone in one the entire planet, dead or alive, had a blog, whose would you read?
I would probably read David Bowie's. Topic title and description modified. Title is very
important just as its description. ...
Tim Berners-Lee's Blog This is Tim Berners-Lee's new blog. Any real geek should know who
he is. He invented the World Wide Web. A few years ago he coded the first browser/editor for the
protocal which would read web pages and could edit them on the fly if you have write permissions to
the FTP or whatever they used back in the internet stone age. Tim explains more in his first post.
In the comments on the first post many of the jokingly say "Hey Tim, I wonder if the internets
thingy will ever catch on?" which is a nice touch. Anyway i'm looking forward to...
If someone contacted you and said, "I'd like to buy your blog" would you know how and what to
set as the price? What if you can get more out of it...what if you are calling higher price than
actually worth? Wouldn't it be nice if something can actually measure the content quality of
your blog? There are some of key words that this calculation predicts and measures the price of
your blog, but other than that little flaw I think it's pretty interesting. We have a web
visitor's count, we have download count, we have page has been viewed count so why no...
I signed up a blog recently, there is a simple text counter in my blog. Of course, I wrote some
articles in the blog, and the text counter counts the visitors. But the counter only counts how many
visitor come to my blog, no any detail about how many times each article is read can be seen. Is
there any free counter that can analys the visitors of each article in a blog? Assuming such a
counter exists, I can put the script of the counter in the title or description of my blog, then
each page can be counted separately. Of course, if the counter can show the article counte...

Theres tons of forum systems out there, so which one is your favorite? For me it all depends on the
situation. SMF is my favorite php\MySQL forum system since it blows away any version of IPB,
and is comparable to VBulletin, while still being incredibly stable, and also it's free. My
favorite CGI\Perl board is YaBB 2, which is on the exact same level as SMF in terms of features
(Y2 has some features SMF dosent, SMF has some Y2 dosent). So, whats your guy's favorite forum
system? /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />...
