PROBLEM: Uploaded website & all images display as blank white box with red X on the webpages.
Tech Info:
Am using domain hosting (not subdomain hosting)
All my html pages are in folder "public_html".
All my images are present in folder named "userfiles".
Both folders are "root" on the server in my cpanel (ie. not in subfolders).
The html code on my webpages "pointing" (incorrectly???) to the images is:
<img src="../userfiles/ (image file name)" <--- is exact syntax
QUESTION:
1) Whats up???
2) Is this html <img src="../userfiles/ (image file name)" incorrect ??
3) Does the Xisto server require that images only be placed in a specific folder OR subfolder in order to display???
I know this is a frequent beginners question but have searched & not found a complete answer.
All help appreciated

Did you turn on image hotlink protection? if you did you have to whitelist your site and your subdirectories. Try to put the image URL directly in the browser, does the image show up? Nils

NilsC, Thanks for the fast reply. The "Image Hotlink Protection" is disabled. When i type in "www.mywebsite.com/userfiles/imagefilename.gif" into the webbrowser I get a 404 error. Please advise. There is no files or images in the /userfiles/ directory. You need to check what folder the images are in. And yes I checked your real site ...  the domain that starts with a r****. Nils

NilsC, Thanks for checking. Are we talking about the same "userfiles" directory/folder? When I open "file Manager" in my cpanel- on the very first screen I see a file/folder called "userfiles" just below the "public_html" file/folder. It has all my PICs in it- I can see them -I just re-checked. Is this the correct folder OR do the PICs need to be in a different "userfiles" folder (ie. a "subfolder") inside the "public_html" file/folder ?? correct on the public_html folder. You need to create that directory in there. public_html/userfiles/ and the files will be in your www.subdomain/userfiles/ directory. Nils

there should be a folder already in public_html/userfiles/ , unless you created the userfiles directory in the www folder directly.. Just look for the images and see where that directory is. your domain-name.com/ is your root folder. Download a free copy of SmartFTP and you can manipulate the files easier (I don't know filezilla it may be just as easy) and you see all directories and subdirectories and you can set permissions etc right from the ftp program. Correct Font
Blank Images - (white Square W/red X)
I am not getting the proper font after hosting my website. I created website with some fancy fonts, in my local machine the html files getting the correct font types. But after hosting it, I checked from another pc. The font what I had in the webpage is missing and it has turned to normal TimesNewroman font. How to over come this problem. Please assist me. -reply by anand

Using Different Font
how to display a font that the user does not have (3) all right i realy did not know where to put this but you guys no how if i where to make my own font
lets say the name is "fake" and i wanted for my website to display all it's i content using the
font "fake". but as you all may know that the user must have that font in their computer but i made
it myself so they wont have it. is it posible to upload this font to my server and like connect it
in someway. what i mean is find a way to use that font with out the user needing it. or is this
imposible.....
My Domain Showing Blank Page (not Timeout) On Load [resolved]
It works through an "anonymous" proxy (6) As far as I know this problem has been on me for one, maybe two weeks now. When i try to access my
site all I get is a completely blank page. The source code also shows a completely blank page. I
would provide a screenshot, but there's nothing there to see!!!!!!!
Bear in mind it's not a timeout error, and the title bar, instead of showing the real "page
title" and favicon, just shows my site's address. This problem is the same in both IE & FF. I
CAN login to the administration area for my site with /administrator/ on the end, and ....

Problems With Subdomain Images
sometimes they donnot load (1) hello guys!, i was trying out with the subdomain options and also installed a board in one of
them, the problem is that when loading from the subdomain images from my domain or the server path,
they just dont load, any ideas on this matter? it was a smf board, strangely it happens just with
images but no with code.......

If Your Graphics Don't Display?
Firewall problems (7) Just discovered something. I was having issues with my graphics not displaying for some people
when they visited my site. After much consternation, I decided to investigate my cPanel settings.
I had activated my "Hot Link Protection" but hadn't checked the box to "Allow direct requests".
For some reason this affects the display in some cases. I don't know why, but since I have
checked that box, the problem seems to have been solved. Hope this helps others. Moving to

Error Using "move_uploaded_file()"
Permission denied to perform this action (4) I, on my website, have employed a page to upload files on my website. But I'm having problems
using it. When the file is uploaded to the 'temp' directory of my account, and when I use
the function 'move_uploaded_file()' to move this file into the actual directory, it returns
the error move_uploaded_file(ABD.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied

Cpanel Images Corrupted
gahhh (7) Cpanel is taking an unusually long time to load, and when it does load, all the images are missing.
If I right click -> view image on any of the missing images (which show up as a blank square with an
icon in the top left), I get this: The image

because it contains errors. as an example of one. Some images, however, do load, but because most
others don't, pages take an extremely unbeliavable amount of time to load (more than 5 minutes

NetscapeNav can't find my homepage (2) Hi all, Heres the latest in the browser display problems. Updated my homepage via ftp. -(deleted the
old home page in the "www" & "public_html" folders & the ROOT directory "_sgt" & "_sgg"
folders..before ftp'ing the update). Verrified that all new homepage updates had the correct
"last modified" date (ie. the server was showing the newest version I just updated in all file
folders which were previously deleted). Homepage uses HTML with CSS & tables only- no php or
anything fancy. The only changes I made to the homepage were the addition of some metatags (ie. )

Forum Signature- Image Display Problem
Signature Image does not display when viewing forum posts (8) Hi all, Just a minor problem, The image I chose to use in my forum signature doesn't display
when I go back to view my posts. It just shows as a blank white box w/ red X in it. I'm 95%
