QUOTE eXeem™ is a brand new Peer-To-Peer program, which is based on the BitTorrent idea. eXeem™ eliminates the need for trackers as nodes in the program will be taking their role. eXeem™ also features easy publication of files to the network as well as a rating and comments system. eXeem™ contains NO SPYWARE. eXeem™ is free and is ad-supported.* eXeem™ is currently still in its beta testing phase, which means that the network might not be completely stable yet. You are still very welcome to give eXeem™ a try and see how it is different from other Peer-To-Peer programs.
That's basically what eXeem is all about. If you're too lazy to read the above, eXeem is a P2P application that does not use trackers to download BitTorrents. Personally, I have never used eXeem, and I don't intend to because I don't trust it was much as the original BitTorrent idea - downloading using trackers. *There is also an ad-free/"spyware free" version of eXeem available (because eXeem is open source), even though eXeem makers claim it's already spyware-free: http://www.techspot.com/download512.htmlSource: http://exeem.com

I think it's too cluttered. Personally, I'd take a program that does its job in a simple GUI rather than a complicated one that doesn't, which happened to me several times when using Shareaza. A new torrent file was released, and Shareaza could not download it.

Azureus, its the best thing i could find. If only for the only download certain files feature.

I didnt like Shareaza one bit. Even for files with many peers, the downloads were always under 10kbs, which is about 12 times slower than what I normally get with other clients. I have read that the speed goes up after you have been uploading to other people foor several weeks, but why would I stay using using if takes forever to get anything during that time?

I was on Bit Torrent about two and a half years ago and the first client I used was the official one. The official client turned out to be a great disappointment. The allocation of disk space is not good and it takes me a long time to kick off before I really get anything on my disk. I have tried several bit torrent clients with the python core, including ABC and burst, which are all based on shadow experiment core. They took a huge amount of resources, though and my super old computer would simply hang with more than sixty connections. Their allocation of memory is not satisfactory either. Then I though, it the inefficient language, python, must be the culprit here. Then I turned to clients whose core are written in other language. There are a few alternatives, Aruzeus, a very famous one is based on Java, BitComet is based on C plus plus and libtorrent also comes with a default client in C plus plus. BitComet pleased me. You can connect to virtually any number of peers you would like to and the core is not so hungry with CPU resources. The bad thing about it is of course that it is not open source, and God knows what the author has put into this piece of software. However, it is the only client that you can use to connect more than 500 peers with download rate of more than 1500KB per second. I run this piece of software on a very old Pentium 2 400MHz machine and there is no lagging or hanging even at this load. So it remains unrivaled as my favorite bit torrent client. For exeem, the new coming p2p software, I think it is not very stable at the moment. Some users also complained that some nodes cannot be connected. Wikpedia has come up with the following criticisms. QUOTE Criticisms of eXeem arose soon after it debuted (and after sloncek's 'unveiling'). These include:
eXeem's for-profit operating model, including support through advertising (much akin to Kazaa) and a public beta that included the adware program Cydoor. A spyware-free version, eXeem Lite was subsequently released, and eXeem has since dropped Cydoor from version 0.21 onward.
Closed source code development, in contrast with the open source model followed by the BitTorrent specification, which eXeem aspires to replace.
No initial Linux or Mac versions, with no ability of third parties to port the code beyond Windows (as eXeem is closed source).
Point 3 is not fair but I think points 1 and 2 are quite justified and valid.

I use bittornado cuz its the most fastest and easy to use one out there. Ive used the orignal one and ABC but i got sick of them cuz i dunno why the speeds would be slow on it. Bittorando is good overall but sumtimes when i close it it freezes and it still runs in the backround which pisses me off but its still good .

I voted for Azureus, because that is my personal favorite. It is extremely easy to use and manage multiple torrents. Also, I have never had any problems with it at all. The only problem is that it is based on Java, which is pretty crappy, but it is implemented very well. The advantage of Java, though, is that it can be compatible with many systems, which is of course a plus. But, it is an extremely good client, and I suggest everyone at least try it .

I use BitComet because it is one of the balanced BT client I've ever: doesnt require alot of memory, fast dl/ul, file selection before download, doesnt minimize to tray and loads of configurations (yet not confusing like azureus)

Best Messaging Client
(18) What do you think is the best messaging client? Right now, I must say Trillian, because it allows
multiple acount log ins at the same time. But it's only for windows, and I'm not sure if

furthermore, it is open source ! there's a lot of room for improvement...but im not sure how
much active its community is. And although both Gaim and Trillian can be invi....

Filesharing
Searching for a private filesharing client (5) Hey all, I'm looking for a small but simple tool, to exchange files with friends and family. I
know that all IM programs have built in file-sharing capability but that is not quite enough for me.
All I need is a little tool which would allow resumes and possibly secure (encrypted) transfers.
What I'm looking for is kind of like FTP but server and client in one program and very simple to
set up. For those of you who know what WASTE is, it comes pretty close but it would be good if it
also would allow unsecured transfer just for ease of use. I'd love to us....
Encrypting Bittorrent To Take Out Traffic Shapers
(0) I found this article the other day, which states that many ISP's are starting to adopt traffic
shaping to limit their users from downloading and uploading anything from BT (or making it extremely
slow to do so). In the article they point to Rogers, one of Canada's largest ISP's, which
have lied about using it in the past. Shaw, and many providers in the UK have this traffic shaping
feature as well, which ultimately makes anything very difficult to share.

Azureus (bit Torrent Client) Problem
(5) Hi everybody! I'm having some difficulties with my bit torrent client - Azureus. When I
download files (I usually download files larger than 400MB), the download stops at a random
percentage (but usually at the second half of the file)! 1st issue: I was downloading a 700MB
file, and by the time it got to 99.3%, the download speed hit zero. I was stuck in a "swarm" of
other bit torrent clients that have also downloaded 99.3% of the file, and nothing is
happening!!! I left it alone for about 4-5 hours, came back, and still 99.3%! I was
so mad,....
Free Lightweight Bittorrent Software (82kb)
microtorrent (µtorrent) (1) Check out what I came across today: http://www.utorrent.com/ It's called µTorrent, and like
the name, the download is ridiculously small: 82KB. BitTorrent is a file sharing network that's
designed to off-load bandwidth if you're sharing large files like Linux ISOs. What it does is it
allows peers to share a bit of the file, so that each person is holding a small piece. Then, it
grabs all the pieces from the peers online and downloads them all to your computer. I may not have
gotten this process correctly, so correct me if I'm wrong.....
What Is Your Favorite Software?
(43) If you had to only take 3 pieces of software, what would they be and why? I will start by saying
First, I will go with opera because i love its speed and compliance with w3 standards. Second,

there yet for me. Finally, bitfender because its such a small yet extensive program that also works
