Bill Gates Rolls Out New Search Engine!

Check out MSN.com. Microsoft, hot on the heels of Google by only a half a decade or so, has developed a search engine of some note! But even better is the letter from Bill Gates. I've included it here and added in the parts that were apparently accidentally left off the letter on msn.com

Greetings,

I would like to introduce you to the new MSN Search service and MSN.com home page.

Based on your feedback, and all the e-mail tracking programs I've personally developed over the years, we have designed the new MSN.com home page to be faster, simpler, and more organized. We've also made MSN Search more precise and powerful, so you can quickly find the information you’re looking for. I'll be sending out the $5 checks to all those fine people who were kind enough to forward ALL of those things that came from me but looked suspiciously like SPAM!

Our mission at Microsoft is to use the power of software to "solve" our customers' toughest problems. Searching the Internet today is a challenge, and it is estimated that nearly half of customers' complex questions go unanswered. That's why we at Microsoft are here to continue that trend! That's why we're proud of our new MSN Search service, a "simple" (well, as simple as anything Microsoft makes can be) and "powerful" (well, as powerful as anything Microsoft makes can be) tool (we are all about that word, "tool") that helps you find the answers you want from sources as diverse as Web pages, images, news headlines, music downloads, porn sites and even files on your own PC (you had to know we can search your computer at our whim, didn't you? I mean, think about it...I'm Bill *BLEEP*in' Gates...I can do whatever I want...hey, is that a naked lady picture in that directory of yours? What if I told your wife about that? Hmmm? Maybe you might want to download some more Microsoft software. It's not that expensive...).

Input from millions of our customers - including me (as if I use Microsoft stuff! Gimme a break!) - was crucial to our efforts to make MSN Search the best it can be (and we really mean, "the best it can be"...I mean we ARE Microsoft so that puts the bar pretty damn low). If you have not already tried it, I encourage you to visit www.msn.com and type in your question. We'd love to hear what you think, and I promise that we will continue to improve MSN based on your feedback. Once we link your harddrive to the internet and ease the movement of viruses across the internet directly into your computer, you can thank us as we roll out various "security patches"! The future's so bright I am required to wear hundred dollar bills pasted over my glasses!)

Sincerely,

Bill Gates

Yea i read that.. THe searching engine is really clean. I can find my site on the first page like the 4th one down D: oawowa.. I am amazed. Google has alot of junk sites that are just worthless.. Maybe Msn is gonna take over and be nr 1

MSN may very well become more efficient, but the sheer enormity of Google will always make it stand out the most. Google has found it's way into the modern lexicon (let's be honest, if you said you were going to "MSN" something, you'd be met with severe flogging) and our culture (Googlewhacking is going to be the next national pasttime, next to baseball and sexual intercourse!). Google is a giant, it simply cannot be stopped.

Kudos to Gates with the new search engine, although I did like the old layout better. Oh well, can't win 'em all wink.gif

Well i think Google will still be used most. No matter how much msn improves. Google has become so popular its the first search engine that comes up in most people's mind. I mean thats how it is and unless Microsoft does something to encourgae people i doubt alot of people will switch.

I didn't know MSN was working on a new search (or atleast improving the old one). I guess that's why MSNbot has been around my site so much.

I find google's results are not as relevant as either MSN or Yahoo. It seems google's directory is just a lot of spam. Although i still goto google first when i am looking for stuff on the net, i find myself getting pissed off more often than not when I see the results.

Google, better smarten up or they will not be in their current position for long.

ok but check this out goto google and put in this
"mom went to the Story Of The Year concert" with quotes
then do the same in msn, that just shows the power of google if you ask me

Well, it seems nice, but at the moment I'll stick to google, because I've got Google toolbar and it's so easy for me to search.. I don't have to go to msn.com to search things..

I had a stab at it earlier, and its response time was incredible... though, I'll still always favour google... I like the bare-bones method of google... none of that fancy crap floating on the page...

And yeah, I could never hear myself saying, "MSN it." as opposed to, "Google it." everytime I hear someone ask a question... tongue.gif

That will NEVER happen. I am a huge support of google and a huge unsupportive microsoft windows user because I can't get Linux on my machine. Anyway, microsoft will never outrun google. Google is the past, present and future of internet searching.
