| | I recently started learning photoshop, Macromedia Flash and some other programs about graphical design and web design. I wasn't very successful in learning photoshop because after Macromedia Flash it seemed so complex and I couldn't find appropriate tutorials to get used to it and find out more things. So, finally I kind of gave up and stopped. But my friend recommended me this amazing web-site that combines links to most of the graphical tutorials on the web. I started with it about 4 months ago and my results were incredible, I was able to make couple of decent web sites and succeed in sigs designing
So, if you want to get some knowledge of photoshop use This Site |

My advice for learning photoshop is just messing with it. Like spend a few hours messing with how to draw stuff and how to work the blending options and some of the other special effects. Then go to the library and pick a book on it and you already will know the first half and you can learn specific things you want from that book in a few more hours like overlays, etc. So basically, learning photoshop isnt using tutorials but mainly just trying things out. No sig makers learned those effects just by using a tutorial, its trying things and undoing them if it doesnt work right

Yes, you can actually learn alot by just playing around with Photoshop. Good-tutorials is a good place to find Photoshop Tutorials, but there are many other sites, such as: http://www.planetphotoshop.com/tutorials.htmlhttp://www.tutorialized.com/http://www.pixel2life.com/

I learned my photoshop skills mainly from clicking around it. It's kinda fun experimenting all the effects they have. But sometimes when I'm really trying to make something good of quality, I would noramally visit goo-tutorials.com

Clicking and playing is the best way to learn, unless you want to learn something specific, then you can go search them in tutorials sites!

I know that one, it's very very good indeed. Did you know that they have more then 5000 free photoshop tutorials, yes, it's enormous, just huge the stock they have, and it is among the top quality websites for the photoshop gurus. I don't agree with fffanatics, i really do not think that that's the way one should learn how to use Photoshop, or even any other program or tool. A few years back i used to think like fffanatics, but now i do not, now i take the time to watch videos, practise Photoshop with step-by-step tutorials, and read tons of top high quality ebooks (they are not free, but usually they are the best help to learn what you want to learn). When you just play with Photoshop, just messing arround, you will not learn the basics very well, that is just my opinion.

I agree with the 2nd poster on this, from personal experience. Just spend a lot of time messing around with different things, trying out different things, getting a taste of imageready, etc. That is what helped me learn photoshop. Among other things, good-tutorials is also very helpful. It will teach you things that you will remember and use in different effects. I am a lot better on Photoshop now, and I still use good-tutorials. There are many things that I don't know how to do, and I usually find lots of them on there. A+ Site right there.

Well, I think we are talking about two different things. If you want to use photoshop just for fun, then yes, all you have to do is play with options, filters, etc. If you only want to make cool sigs you don´t need to know how to use the whole program. But if you want to approach professionally to photoshop I wouldn´t recommend just messing with it, because you´ll probably won´t get to a lot of things that you can do with it but is hard to figure it out if somebody doesn´t explain it to you. The problem with tutorials is that there are tons of them and you never know if they´re good or bad until you read them. And that can take too much time, so I understand people who prefer doing it by themselves.
