As i probably already have stated, the best antivirus for a windows pc is avast. It is completely free for a typical user, does not hog memory, and runs very quickly. I have never gotten any spyware or virus' since i started using this software two years ago.

I'm using the home edition of Avast and I'm liking it. NIS hoggs a lot of your system memory and can kill slower machines!!!

Well, I don't actually use an anti-virus (no use for it), but the two best anti-virus programs are Kaspersky and NOD32. Kaspersky has better definitions, but it scans slower. NOD32 scans faster, but it's definitions aren't quite as good. If I were to install an anti-virus (peh, like that would happen), it would be NOD32 -- only because I'm impatient.

I currently use avg free, I really dont have one because I feel like I need it, I keep it there just in case and only in the partition that has internet access. In the partition that I use for music production, I keep it without internet access and without any antivirus consuming the resources.

I use NOD 32 although I was more happy with Kasperski but I have heard that it can make some serious problems with your windows so I changed to NOD. Whatever as some said before if someone wants to get in your computer they will-anti virus programs only slow them and stop stupid-made viruses.

Your view on it (12) i find norton anti virus to be more of a hassle than anything on my system. i currently have it
disabled because of the constant warnings and 'tips' it 'provides'. i have talked
with other people about this, and have set up someones new computer that they have little knowledge
about and the responses i get are the same, people are annoyd with it. do you find it protects well?

changed? it happened to me... but i found a program that completes my anti-virus, a kind of
"Settings Firewall". every time anything is changed (desktop, internet conections, startup) it warns
you and let you decide to allow or reset the change. It has a sort of usefull tools to keep your
computer running well and it also block "web bugs". this is good because if your antivirus fails,
GSH will catch all the changes a virus/trojan does to your computer and let you reset them.....

(5) Anyone got that W32.Bagel virus yet? Supposably its spreading through Canada and U.S. Its pretty
vicous (smart setup tho). It makes files that sound like adult material and it puts them in folders
containing "shar". What that does it it puts those files that have the worm in them and those
folders containing "shar" like My Shared Folder, Shared Downloads, etc, the folders for programms
like kazaa and limewire, people download those files thinking they are downloading adult material,
but they just get the worm, and then it happens all over again.....
