The best way to make your computer secure is to use Linux for browsing the Internet, as there are only about 10 viruses written for it. (or something like that). I myself am not that bothered about Viruses etc, although I do scan for them once a month.

Avast+Zone Alarm is what I use, I don't get spyware or virusesm and avast is much better than Norton or Mcafee, they are just resource hogs. I used to have Norton and Mcafee, with Norton, my computer would take an hour to shut down, and with Mcafee an hour to start up. Also Avast auto updates itself whereas with Norton and Mcafee you get those annoying messages.
Nod32: "Better. Faster. Smaller." If there wasn't a flash logo when nod32 starts, you couldn't even tell wether it's on or not. It has updates everyday, keeping you always up to date. It has a 30-day trial version for you to test... It has approximately 10mb to intall... If it's free to test, why not!? If you like, just BUY! It's not expensive! In fact, if you compare it to Norton, McAfee, you will se it's cheap! And it totally worths it!

i think that the best anti virus is kasper sky and you can download it here!!! www.kaspersky.com download the windows workstation version! it is about 24mbs! blieve me!! in fact i never liked antiviruses! because they just will use all of my ram space and also dont find any viruse! so i used to delet viruses on my computer myself!!!:D but since i found kasper sky i really surprised cause i had not ever seen an antiviruse as that! it never use more than 10mbs of your ram space! it finds all of viruses and also has a disinfect option for your application with are infected! and also you can send your unknown files to them and they will analize it in at most 24houres and then they will email you the result! and if it would be infected they will add it to their updates!:D so by the way i really recommend you to download it! enjoy! bye
Just installed Linux Ubuntu on a partition with Wireless access to the Internet and have a question
about the need for an Ani-virus software. Is it suggested to have it installed? and which one is
recommended by the Trap17 users? Ubuntu 8.04 installed via Wubi, if that matters. Both the LAN
hard-wire connection and the Wireless Adapter work, if that matters.......
Hello, I was wondering if anybody knew of a good free lightweight antivirus program, as I just got
an internet connection on my slower computer. The computer itself can hardly be called
internet-ready, it's over 10 years old, but it still works fine, the problem is I'm worried
that an antivirus program would slow it down too much. (I have Norton Antivirus and Firewall on my
other computer, which is much faster, and it slows down the computer a lot, especially booting. I
kinda want this computer to be usable online.) I know that there are some great programs out ....
I think avast antivirus is the best antivirus software, it is free and avilabe for everyone, it scan
every thing fast, each page you open, each file you download, and everything thats working on the
computer, t is really good, it stops the danger so fast... Try it and let me know....

Reding OS news I stumbled over this article that ran my bloodpressure up because it's on the
Microsoft monopoly issue. I begun with hating microsofts because their unfair politics on customers

Well I picked Norton 2006 last night since my subscription ran out so I thought I give a review on
it and let you the members of trap get a good idea what it all before getting it. The First thing I
notice what was different then most Norton software after it install it automatically does the first
scan of the computer (13 warnings_adware). Also for the first time it checks programs that connect
to the internet as well but just a bit better as well then that awful 2005 where the block programs
came up ever 2 minutes that was finally fixed. Also it does a tab FYI on yo....

Yesterday I was surfing the net and new virus was detected in my computer, its called
w32.bloodhound. Currently I am using Nortong Antrivirus Corporate edition version 9. This program
detect the virus but was not able to remove it. IF you people have encountered this virus? what
program or anti-virus did you used? Also there I have found a program in my add remove program
called BullEyeNetword and I can't remove the program. Can you please give me hint on how to

Ok. I got rid of NAV(Norton Anti-Virus) and installed AntiVir. The only reason I did this is
because I just bought this computer and NAV was all messed up. It refused to update so I got angry
at it and threw it into the ocean. But anyways, AntiVir is just temporary while I'm away from
home. But enough of that, so the first thing AntiVir did was tell me i had a trojan....I got a
message about this a day or 2 ago and this is what it was: trojan.wn32.apropo.225280 pro files>auto
update>autoupdate.exe That was what an anti-hack program warned me about from a Korea....
i find norton anti virus to be more of a hassle than anything on my system. i currently have it
disabled because of the constant warnings and 'tips' it 'provides'. i have talked
with other people about this, and have set up someones new computer that they have little knowledge
about and the responses i get are the same, people are annoyd with it. do you find it protects well?

So I was updating my free version today and it told me that I had 5 things in my vault. I was
wondering if emptying it would be the good thing to do. I mean do I just keep the virus' in

Have your anti-virus failed? are you full of trojans? and now your computer has your settings all
changed? it happened to me... but i found a program that completes my anti-virus, a kind of
"Settings Firewall". every time anything is changed (desktop, internet conections, startup) it warns
you and let you decide to allow or reset the change. It has a sort of usefull tools to keep your
computer running well and it also block "web bugs". this is good because if your antivirus fails,
GSH will catch all the changes a virus/trojan does to your computer and let you reset them.....
So my AOL keeps telling me that I need to download a new anti virus. It keeps giving me McAfee, but
I have heard that they aren't so good. Which anti-virus progs do you people use that you feel is

Anyone got that W32.Bagel virus yet? Supposably its spreading through Canada and U.S. Its pretty
vicous (smart setup tho). It makes files that sound like adult material and it puts them in folders
containing "shar". What that does it it puts those files that have the worm in them and those
folders containing "shar" like My Shared Folder, Shared Downloads, etc, the folders for programms
like kazaa and limewire, people download those files thinking they are downloading adult material,
but they just get the worm, and then it happens all over again.....
