Ah... Nice shot for Linux people to earn some compatibility with ATI. I was thinking if Nvidia could be done with the same method. I'd like to see Linux grow more into entertainment and gaming so I shall sign one in the petition..

Nice find! Just signed the petition myself... Although, I still don't get ATI's attitude towards Linux! It's not that hard to write some working drivers, now is it? They still don't realize that a great number of people are buying nVidia GFX cards because they are fully supported under Linux...

The only reason I did not bought myself an ATI card is that I use linux 96% of the time and I know that there are drivers from ATI which you can use but that the performance of those are left behind comparing to Nvidia. I also like to see beter driver support from ati and so I singned the petition to because when Nvidia can do it why should Ati??

hmm i've got ati cards in my computers and will be branching into the world of linux shortly and would dearly love to find the hardware i own being supported fully under nix. I am surprised in the world like it is today with a large number of pc enthusiasts using linux for varous reasons that they would neglect to take care of this huge customer base... shame on you ati.... shame (bad derryn hinch impersonation for you aussies out there) *signing now*

inspiron: nVidia already has a great linux driver for just about all chips (they follow a one-driver-all-chips-policy ... it's not easy to pick the wrong one anymore :/ ) there are already many of the (I'll call them like that) "major" games running on Linux: Quake I, II, III (I don't know about IV); UT up to 2004 (and therefore all games on the Quake or UT engine are or should be playable on Linux); Diablo II; Neverwinter Nights... ...anyways, I'm not that much of a gamer but I've got an ATI chip in my laptop... *signed*

Asp.net Hosting On Linux Servers?
(1) Hi, I was searching the free ASP.NET hosting, but I didn't found any really good hosts. However,
I found lots of good free hosting sites(like trap17) without ASP.NET support. Now I'm wondering,
why there is only few free ASP.NET hosts with such poor plans? You may say, that ASP.NET requires
Windows OS, but it isn't true, there is such tool named mono, which allows run NET technologies
on linux OS and it is free(as far as I know). Then why hosts doesn't interested in ASP.NET? A
lot of people searching for free good ASP.NET hosting, I just can't underst....

Help With Linux - Russix
(4) Hi, I am quite a big n00b with Linux. I need help with this issue. I didn't want to install
Linux on my hard-drive but still wanted to use it as a normal version not from a Live CD. I was
looking for a Linux that can be installed on a pen drive. First I found SLAX and then I stumbled
upon Russix, which is also based on SLAX. I like the security auditing part of Russix.

Linux Games
Any linux gamers out there? (0) Hi, are there any linux players out there? I know there are a lot of unique linux games out there,
but they are too much to try them all (and my drive space is very limited). I'm currently
trying auteria, a nice mmorpg, also available for windows. I like it because it's not as
stupid (personal opinion), as most otherf MMORPG in which everything I do is killing monsters to get
better weapons and higher levels to kill more monsters. Of course you can do the same in Auteria, if
you want... but besides that it's really nice and you can do a lot of other thing....
Firefox 2 To Firefox 3 - Is It Worth Upgrading?
Let's settle this matter once and for all. (45) I was only recently made aware of the release of Firefox 3, having not been notified by Firefox, and
problems with my internet connection that caused Trap17 and similar websites to slow to snails-pace,
so I ended up missing the download day and haven't got it yet. The thing is though, I've
been hearing a lot of negative press about it. I know that there was concern that Firefox would
break Flash support a while ago, which was fixed, and I hear it's kind of restrictive as to
downloading addons and junk. Now, I did actually test Firefox 3 Beta 5, and my only ....

Best Soldier Units
Let's discuss best soldier units trough history (8) Well, since I have come to discussion about best government system and aside of that me and the
topic starter have started arguing about best soldier unit in a sense. And since we are somewhat
polluting that topic I have decided to start new topic afterwards I may add some poll so we would be
able to see which units are the best in deed. So let's hear all of yours opinions and
let's argue about it. My preferable units would be legionaries and Spartans. I will leave

If Mac Osx Is Best With Hardware, Where Does Linux Lie?
(5) Here's a good question: Is Linux better at utilizing hardware efficiently to produce optimal
performance out of your components. I hear a lot about Mac OSX being so much better with Intel
processors and yada yada, but I don't know if this is true or if a bunch of Mac elitists said a
bunch of crap and ran with it. I don't think there are actual comparable benchmarks, but if
there are, where does Linux lie in the hardware efficiency race? (Or is it dependent on which Linux
distribution it is, like how XP still beats Vista in performance?)....
What Made You Switch To Linux?
(32) I first tried Linux a few years ago, not because I was completely against Windows or anything like
that, but just because I had some free time on my hands. I started off with Mandrake 9.0 which was
very user friendly and Windows-like. After reading through a bunch of message boards and learning
which distros are good for what, I soon realized my current distro was great for Linux noobs. So
then I decided to try something a little more advanced like Slackware which I knew had a steep
learning curve. Since then I've been using Slackware as my main OS and couldn't ....
What Age Should We Give Our Kid A Cell Phone?

not really advisable to let them have the celphone. since they are going to play with it and consume
too much of their time. and we would not want them have their attention on their cellphone only. we
want that they will put more attention to their studies and that they will concwentrate on getting
good grades. and enjoying other things like sports and not to worry about texting their friends and
they have nothing really the can do much about the cellphone. snice they don&....
Ubuntu Linux As Free Operating System Alternative
linux operating system (46) About three years ago I decided to learn how to use Linux and after a lot of posts on a forum I
tried Ubuntu Linux as it was recommended as a good first Linux distro. Ubuntu is not the easiest
Linux distro to use but with its unmatched forum community support it is one of the easiest to learn
to use. One of the problems with learning Linux is that a lot of users have an attitude that Linux
should be a free Windows knock off which it is not. Ubuntu is build on a Linix core or kernel and is
a different Open Source and free as in to use operating system. This brings us to t....

I Hate Smokers
2nd hand smoke (101) Who here hate smokers? I mean, they go into a restaurant, sit in a non-smoking section, and smoke,
ignoring the sign. I also want to tell everybody that 2nd hand smoking is actually worse than the
smoker himself smoking it. In Houston, the mayor has already banned smoking in restaurants. Well,
you know my vent, I hate it when people smoke right in front of you while you're in a casual
conversation. I can't stand the smell. I know I can't just cover my nose so I usually just
walk away. I think smoking should be banned and I hope it will...sometime...soon.......
How Do I Switch From Gnome To Kde?
Ubuntu Linux (6) Hey. I use Windows mainly, as I use games and graphical programs the most. However, I use Linux a
bit, just for programming and other things like that. I'm not that good at programming and
linux though ;_;... Well, I decided that the main reason I don't like to use it is that it
looks so alien, and I hate how GNOME looks. I hear that if I move to KDE I'll be sacrificing
some performance or whatnot. I have this really crazy linux zealot friend who preaches the linux
gospel to me, and will attempt to beat down any reason why I like Windows. I would ask ....
