I had been having trouble getting "Enter the Matrix" to run decently. Other games like Doom3, Half-Life 2 and Escape from Butcher Bay run on high settings on my system and still get around 50 FPS, there's no reason why Enter the Matrix should be so friggin' slow. So I emailed Atari about it, and one thing they suggested was downloading this driver uninstall program to completly remove all traces of my ATI card and then reinstall it. So I did that, got the card reinstalled, then disaster struck. Everytime I tried to play a game, that "vee-clunk" sound that my computer makes whenever Windows blue screens, would be heard and the game would freeze. Unlike a regular bluescreen, it wouldn't reboot or show TBSOD (the blue screen of deathg). If I rebooted, it would then do the same thing as soon as Windows tried to load. It would load in safe mode however. So I did a repair on XP, didn't fix the problem. So I reinstsalled XP over top of my current install. Didn't Help. So I complety formatted my C: partition. Didn't help. So then I formatted my entire primary hard drive, rather then just one partition. Didn't help. But, along the way, I notied that games installed on my secondary hard drive would not freeze. So, I removed my primary hard drive and put an old hard drive in instead. Installed XP, installed my MB drivers and my graphics card drivers and it still hasen't frozen. So, does this mean I should be calling tech support to arrange a burial service for my hard drive? It is pretty old, in fact it's the only original part from my first computer I got about... 4 or so years ago. Could it be possable that the driver uninstaller program killed it somehow, or was it just the straw that broke the camel's back?

 higher settings need more money..  look you played like hf2,doom3,other or bf2?haha.it's no use reinstall the graphic card driver if your computer bought 2 years ago,you need upgrade your computer,just paying 1 time money for it you personal computer could be a play station i think.

Well, that "vee-dunk" sound you have described, sounds way too familiar. I think you are right, when you assume your hard drive died. It is fairly difficult for an uninstall program to cause such damage to hard drive, but, it possibly is the last straw, that caused your hard drive to die on you. That sound you're hearing, is hard drive attempting to power up, and position it's heads to start position, but for some reason, it can't... Maybe the electronics died. If you can find the exact same model of your hard disk, maybe you could replace the PCB on the back, and that would bring your drive back to life... Maybe, just maybe... But, my best guess is... Rest in peace, old hard drive...

Hi ps2online, The "ve-dunk" (OR "ker-chunk") sound is the drive attempting (unsuccessfully) to move the read/write arm to the correct spot over the disk. Gallahad is correct that if you could find the EXACT same drive you could (possibly) replace the PCB board & get your data off it..otherwise ...sorry.. it's probably dead for sure.  For future reference.. when a drive starts to fail (intermittantly) all sorts of "weird" BSDs & lockups can happen. You didn't kill it though by re-installing drivers or re-formatting...it was just it's time to go..sad but true RGPHNX

hard drives producing some clicking sound certainly is in trouble, and this is most possibly your problem, with the cost of hard drive cheap now you better purchase one rather than contacting support, that will be their suggestion anyway

the sellers are gonna jack the hell out of the price. In any case, I can only wonder what this will
mean for desk top and laptop computers. I mean if they can fit a terabyte in a thumb drive with this
technology, think of how much they can fit into a normal comp. Think of how much music that would

Help For My Seagate Sata Hard Drive!
hard drive stops working randomly, please help! (7) I just bought that disk (seagate SATA 500G) half year ago and found it stop working randomly,
resulting the whole system to be dead. BTW, I am using Win XP. I tried to use seatool, provied by
seagate, to scan and repair the error, the program stop at the half of the process. I even can't
format entirely, just do quick format. I don't know what I can do and have been pissed off for a

Cd Drive Eject Button Problem
see inside for explanation (3) i have a old dvd burner that is very reliable. the only problem that i have is the eject button on
that thing is a little busted. i know you can right click to eject it but how can i return it(after
you put a cd you press that thing to let the cd go inside) it is an old one and you push the cd

Network Install Linux On Laptop With No Cd Drive?
(6) I was hoping some linux tech heads here could give me some pointers about installing linux onto a
laptop I have which has no cd drive. To make things worse it does not even boot from usb. I had
installed XP on it with an unattended install using the /makelocalsource switch which copies files
to the local hdd then finishes setup from there after reboot. Is there an easy switch function to

A:/ Drive Not Found
My A:/ drive is not working. (4) Need your HELP! Today I had to reinstall my operating system and low and behold my A:/ drive
is not working. I have replace the drive and still nothing. My Hard drive and CD rom are showing up
when I go into the BIOS, but are also not reading. I downloaded a Fresh copy of Dos 6.22 which is
what I normally deal with on this PC. I even tried replacing the Jumper Cables from the mother

4 Wheeler Talk
What kinds 4 wheel truck do you drive (6) I have a 2007 Dodge Ram with the Big Horn Package I have a lot of the horns and whisles with it. I
dont use it for plowing or work basically a family vrhical. I have the V8 Hemi engine in it with the
automatic 4 wheel locking drive dial. It has a six speed trans and 20 inch wheels and plenty of
crome. For a 4 wheels dirve it rides prety good not like the ols style 4 wheelers I use to ride in.
The gas milage also is not bad instead of like 8 to 10 miles per gallon I get like 18 to 19 mi per
gallon. Need less to say I have had some problems already basically warenty work b....
Hard Drive Recovery
(9) One of my friends dropped her Dell Inspiron 1501 and the computer now won't boot. On inspection,
the computer takes a long time to finish POST, then displays that it's loading Broadcom drivers,
Intel drivers, and then it displays: No OS detected. Check PXE ribbon . So I restart, check out
the BIOS, and it shows me that the computer isn't even seeing the hard drive. (I'm
personally used to a computer telling me that it can't find bootable media in this case, but I
guess newer computers, or just Dell, now tells you that an OS isn't being detected....
Problem With My External Hard Disk

System Does Not Detect Dvd/cdrom Drive

Dvd Drive Problem

(10) I have a USB 2.0 'enclosure' for 2.5" HDD with a 30GB Fujitsu MHT2030AT HDD. When I plug
it into a system with USB 1.1 ports only, although the Mass Storage Device and the Fujitsu MHT2030AT
USB Device appears in Device Manager, there is no extra Disk added to Disk Manager (so I can't
partition/format it). The same arrangement on the same PC running Linux works fine (though, as
expected, it runs at USB 1.1 speed) I am running Windows XP (SP1+) with ALL of the latest patches.
