For a better performance is general and a fast boot you need to disable Winxp services that you don't need, i don't remember website in english but i will try to find out what services can you stop to get a better performance.

To make your computer (with windows xp) start faster do one or all of the following things: - Delete from time to time all files in the Prefect directory (located in the Windows directory) - Defragment your harddisk once in a while. - Turn of System Restore. - Disable the new visual styles and use that ugly grey one from previous windows. These are not all for making windows start up faster, but also to make it run faster. You could also try to update your BIOS (I think it's called flashing?) if you do not have the latest version already. But note: don't hold me responsible for any problems whatsoever .

The links provided here looks pretty good. I am just going to check all the information provided here. Let's hope my system can be faster. There is also a tool called Tweak UI that can improve some things also. Sorry i have forgotten the link for it . Please google it.

hey everyone. fillipc... good stuff. that's what i did to my computer after my dad told me it helped heaps. also another thing to do is in msconfig click on the services tab and, same thing, disable all the stuff you don't need. it helps heaps, but you need to be REALLY REALLY careful. and whatever you do DONT disable the services marked essential. THIS WILL KILL YOUR COMPUTER. anyway, apart from that, this should speed up your computer a fair bit!

Service tweaks do reduce the startup time. However remember to defragment the drive where Windows is installed often (at least once a week). Also without using bootvis you can perform the exact similar tasks : 1. Start -> Run type : defrag c: -bAssuming Windows XP to be installed in drive C. Then again Start->Run type : rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasksThis process run's in background (no visible window), but look for the hard disk activity led .... takes some time to complete.

Beware of the TweakUI program.. even though these programs do help you out to tweek ur pc for faster performance, wrong settings can result in adverse results. So it is better that you dont use such programs and do basic things like un-installing useless programs and also disabling them from startup. Disabling System restore ( be careful doing this ), periodically defragment your hard -drive.

Triple Booting With Windows Ugh!
(7) Ok so I've got Mac os X leopard, ubuntu, and windows XP all installed on separate partitions of
my harddrive in my macbook pro. When I boot into mac and linux both see the windows partition

"hell os", that would be even better. Also would renaming this drive not allow me to boot under XP

I'd need to supply certain space to the two separate partitions. I was thinking of making my
